Hello,

I'm not sure that would work. A cuirass might serve you better.

For all out confrontation (at a reasonable price) I would suggest a motorcycle jacket (w/plastic 'skid' plates in arms, chest & back), chaps, gloves and fully loaded super soakers- let them shoot, then blast 'em with the soakers and watch the charge ride the H2O!

Hey Chris...

I like the idea too, but I think Anthony's right. I'm no science type, but it just don't seem possible to me.

Now...... what if we all were to drink gallons upon gallons of water a day so when we get tazed and pissed all over the puddle would reach the cops, thus zapping them and rendering em incapacitated as well?

You reckon that might work?

Heh.

Well, electricity tends to follow the path of least resistance, which is still likely to be the shortest distance between the taser prongs. So if both prongs are in ya, the best course for the electricity to take is still through your body.

I guess something that isn't commonly understood is that the tazer does not infuse your whole body with the electricity. The charge only passes the few inches between prongs. It's just that this is sufficient to incapacitate most people.

The prongs need to be in contact- which a plated motorcycle jacket would prevent.
Okay- forget the super soaker idea, but get the jacket, it's cool to wear even if you don't feel like you're in danger of a tazing. And what's a cop gonna do, ask ya to remove it so he can shoot ya? He can't aim for the face, 'cause that ain't allowed...

Hello,

I agree with body armor. But since you'll be wearing armor, might as well add a bulletproof vest, too.

If a taser doesn't work, the next tool to come out will be a gun.

If by "they" you are referring to the police for the most part they don't get them, Dragon Skin isn't really cheap and while it's more flexible and provides better protection to weight ratios then say the Interceptor body armor given to the troops it's still more encumbering then the standard issue cop armor. You might find SWAT teams or bomb disposal teams wearing it but you almost certainly won't find beat cops wearing it.

Yeah... but a 1 terrabyte hard drive cost 200 bucks more 6 months ago on newegg.com than it does today. Remember when Starter jackets cost 250 bucks back in the day? Now they sell them at Value City for 35 bucks.

Besides... I have plenty of money for something like that. Is it available to the public? I don't get the idea that it is from the website.

Apples to oranges, A better example might be comparing the price of an M-16 today compared to 20 years ago, you'll find that the price is quite similar and in fact is probably higher due to inflation. The methods of making body armor don't really get much cheaper as time goes by, the only way I see Dragon Skin getting much cheaper is if large orders come in and they get super-sized mass production going.

The wikipedia page implies that both the lower level versions of it are available but the highest level is not. You'll probably have a little trouble finding a place to buy it though.

Hello,

Dragon Skin armor is in the midst of a controversy right now. The company’s own tests show that it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, and I’ve seen a television show where some of the armor was tested impressively.

On the other hand, the military’s testing showed that the armor failed ‘catastrophically.’

Someone is lying, and it’s not clear who.

Actually it's possible that neither of them are lying. I don't think the Army has explained their testing methods so it's possible that they are doing something different which is causing the armor to lose it's capacity.

However it's more likely that the Army is lying, they probably don't want to have to budget for a complete set of replacement armor when their own already does pretty well. The reason I think the Army is the liars (assuming there is liars) is because I've seen at least 2 different tests and heard of over a dozen where Dragon Skin is the greatest thing since sliced bread and the only people saying it isn't are the Army.

I've done a bit of research, no one I've talked to could tell me of a retailer that sells Dragon Skin so the only place that I could point you to would be the contact page of their website.

I was pointed to this page: http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=10&t=194734 for body armor. It has a bunch of links to places to buy, I didn't go to all of them, none that I checked had DS but in truth if you need the multi-hit strength of DS then you're probably screwed any ways.
