Where's the snark coming from?

What's the point of singling people out for mockery, I'd like to know? Is it really necessary to devote an entire thread to lampooning these guys? How does that make this an attractive board for Firefly fans of all stripes? Or is this just the board for fans with particular political-ideological commitments?

I think he's just PO'ed at the deceptive, vicious and outright offensive behavior of some folk around here, but I second that ya really shouldn't stoop to crankin out threads about it.

That bein said, I have no issue whatever with bashing their heads over it *in the thread where they do so*, but ain't no need to stoop to the same level to address folks doin wrong.

Ain't that what the primary disconnect around here is mainly about in the first place ?

Ah man, no one has a sense of humour anymore...I didn't single out anyone in the title of the thread, I just goofed on a few of the usual suspects in the initial post- and I invite the same goofing on me and anyone else perceived as being rabidly anti-Bush/Cheney. Or maybe even comment seriously on the media lag on reporting what's really going on in Gov't.

I actually thought this might be a funny idea...guess this might be the wrong crowd, as Wash would say.

Well, I won't speak for any of the folks you mentioned above. As for myself, I am a mite sensitive because of the treatment I've received on these boards at various times (e.g. proclamations that all Christians ought to be burned alive, assertions that theism is inherently irrational). So I see a thing like this, I assume the worst. That's probably more a statement about my character than yours.

I have always thought a benevolent dictatorship would be the most efficient form of government. With a kind, intelligent, incorruptible man like Cheney I'm sure it would be true. If they can just get his Darth Vader outfit ready in time I think there's a chance.

Joking aside, I find the irrational dislike of Cheney even more confusing than that of Bush. I've never seen anything out of Cheney that would suggest that he's anything other than a good man.

I'm a conservative Republican who voted twice for Bush/Cheney and would do it a third time. I support the war, the Patriot Act, deporting illegals, hunting, no-bid contracts, wars for oil, and a just end to the writers strike.

I believe Dick Cheney is a patriot. He gets the job done (there are debates about what his job is, but CEO, Defense Secretary, Vice President...he always gets it done like it or not). He's a husband and father.

Yet despite all this even I am fairly certain that if he is not in fact the devil...then certainly there is a blood smeared document relating to his soul in some file cabnet in hell.

That said, I think every now and then we need people like that in government...although I think we'd have been better served with someone else as VP (like Condi) and Dick as Defense Secretary or Homeland Security Dude.

Edited to add: And you can't tell me Hillary Clinton didn't sell her soul in much the same way...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Cheney only shoot ONE 'folk' ? Were I to use Chris's logic, the Kennedy Clan would have a far greater propensity to kill folk and to run into things, be they bodies of water ( Chappaquiddick, Atlantic Ocean ) or samller, stationary objects ( a tree, concrete barrier ).

Kennedy death toll - 4

Cheney death toll - 0

The Lib's always fear and demonize those that are the most effective. For years they had a monopoly on the dirty tricks and it really irks them that a few conservatives are now willing to roll around in the mud with them. Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay and Dick Cheney are the most demonized conservatives over the last 15 years. They have also been the most effective at pushing the conservative agenda.

Wow..... I don't think he'll ever say Bush is right (I know I wouldn't), but I could see the rest of that coming true because we seem to care about telling everyone else what to do meanwhile we do nothing about securing our own borders and keeping people who don't care too much for us out of our own Country.

Huh?

The only conservative things that have happened in the last 7 years were tax cuts and Bush vetoing the tax increase on smoking to fund a communist health care plan. When did Orwellianism become the face of the Conservative members of our government?

Orwellian-ism became the face of conservatives when people like you started to buy into the demonization job done on conservative leaders by liberal groups and their friends in the media. It's understandable considering the massive amount of negative press conservatives receive. It doesn't take long to brainwash the public when every day there's a news story about the evil Neo-cons and their good buddies at Halabuton. The truth behind the Neo-con/Haliburton story is no more conspiratorial than any other group or company using the system to push their self interest. The only difference is that the others doing the same thing (Moveon/George Soros etc.)are more in line with the agenda of the media elites.

I've never hid my contempt for the Demoncrats, and there would have to be a very strange set of circumstances for me to ever vote Democrat.

I'm just wondering what you find to be more Conservative: The Real ID, The Patriot Act, Amnesty for Illegals, The Homegrown Terrorism Act, or dumping trillions of dollars (and the value of the American dollar with it) into what will become the most unpopular war our great Nation has ever been a part of.

I'm under no illusion that the Dems would fix this. Aside from the assenine war, most of this crap is usually their bag and they'll be happier than pigs in shit to keep pushing these agendas. Add to that Universal Health Care and a carton of smokes that costs me $200.00 and I'll be sitting real pretty.

My comment was hardly an attack from a Dem on the righteous "Conservatives". It's just poking holes in the fallacy that any part of the current administration is Conservative.
