They sentenced Willoughby aka Mackevelli today.

Instead of rolling up the whole enterprise and going after the bankrollers and certain upscale clients (Mack didn't serve upscale clients, he was a stringer) they just busted down the street level pimps and called it a day.

Dammit.

This was a rather large, multi-state, multi-perp forced prostitution scheme of underage folk, see, and it had certain connections which various prosecutors have utterly refused to explore.

Wasn't one of those serving the bigwigs, those are a bit more discreet, it's clientele was midlevel folk in jersey, and downright nobodies in ohio, but it was connected, although due to the failure of certain prosecutors to DO THEIR JOB, they're just gonna pop the small fry and walk away.

Again, Dammit.

And for all the horrors, what did they get ?
A mere 5-6 years, and parole eligibility within 18 months.

Triple Dammit.

And "The Minivan" is back, you know, that one that keeps snatchin girls around here in and around detroit - so watch your kids folks, it's a maroon chrysler minivan, late 90's, either a plymouth voyager or dodge caravan, the damn thing is anonymous as hell and all the more dangerous for it - usually running stolen plates too, so that's been a dead end.

Unknown whether it's stolen or not, or even whether it's the same one or one is stolen for the purpose, but it's always the same MO.

Spotter with cellphone calls the target, they make the grab, and then switch the baggage to the swapcar in a parking lot - only they missed the last grab and we got a *composite sketch from the intended victim.

It positively reeks of snatch for hire, and I have certain suspicions, but without evidence, we got nothin, so keep an eye out, you hear ?

This has been goin on since 99, so as you imagine it's pissin me off a bit, but it's no sense trying to get the cops to do anything, they're either all caught up in the drug war or trying to hide their dirt from the Federales camping the place due to extreme corruption and it's just kinda cramping their style to have to play by the rules, so they been doin much of nothin as of late.

What's worse than annoying - someone does it to adults, and it's news, at least news enough for the mainstream papers to cover and the cops to go through the motions... but these assholes and their van been gettin a free pass for nine years now.

I'd like sure as hell to revoke it.

-Frem
*The sketch in question is kinda debateable, the victim didn't really get a decent look and was then kinda pressured into it.

Links would really help, since Willoughby and Mackevelli turn up too much stuff to dig through on google.

Sorry, here.

I didn't think anyone would much care, just venting a bit, I guess...

We're talkin a pretty damn large combine servicing the middle and lower rungs, but tenatively connected to certain other groups I been tryin like hell to put out of commission for years.

And now that it's coming out, they're playing the "But we didn't know!" game.

Trust me, they knew, they'd known for nineteen fucking months, and sat on it cause they didn't wanna rock the boat.

Both the Toledo cops and NCMEC jammed their heads in the sand and tried really hard NOT to see upon being informed, repeatedly over the course of those nineteen months, in detail sufficient to procure warrants, and nothing...

Till one of my contacts caught a break, and although unable to legally DO anything, called in the parents, who, meeting the same wall of resistance from the Toledo PD and the FBI, decided to fucking do something about it.

Some of that story is here.

This lead to them being unable to deny and ignore this shit anymore and so the case got processed, but like I said, no follow up, they're just gonna pop the street level pimps and transporters for the mandatory minimum and walk away from the case.

And not a damn thing about certain folk within the system providing fake documentation, not even a pretense of an investigation there, telling me they know who it is and are covering for them.

As you can imagine, I'm pretty damned pissed off about that.

Cops ain't happy neither, since we got a lot of the same info they do, and the next time they fail to act, plan to feed it to the families as well if we can locate them.

If it's too much to ask of them to do their fuckin job, then perhaps they should seek alternate employment.

You're talking to people who are fans of a show where the main protagnist says, "If anyone tries to kill you, you try to kill them right back."

Of course we care. You always got a place to vent here, buddy.

It's fucking depressing is all. I'm just glad there are folks like you out there working on the problem. I think I'd be a complete basket case after 2 months, if it were me. (After 2 years with Vietnam vets, I started bursting into tears every time I heard "Vietnam." It's called secondary Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.)

So.. what is next? How do you guys proceed?

Well, we're more a private self contained intelligence archive than anything else, and all too often direct action risks fouling an active investigation - but this was one of those cases where they played the lack of resources, can't spare anyone, not enough evidence cards, even with signed affadavits and a description and floorplan from two former victims.

The on site guy even had one of the places under direct observation, cops came and chased him off, then claimed they couldn't get a warrant, judge wasn't satisfied with the evidence...

But when we did a midnight inspection and creeped the place, it was clear the perp had been warned off, someone cleared out of there in a hurry, and the place was abandoned.

It became pretty clear at that point that the perps had one or more insiders, whether badge bearers or office drones we don't know - and they're clearly getting some rock solid fake documentation, birth certs, drivers licenses, etc...

That stuff is pretty hard to fake these days, unless you have access to the blanks, which we suspect their source does.

Thing is, they're not going to throw one of their own under the bus, no matter what they've been doing, the thin blue line, and all that, and so this investigation falls apart both cause the prosecutors are unwilling to butt heads with politically connected folk who can have them bounced from the job with a mere phone call...

And the cops would have to admit to, and investigate, their own ranks and possibly some folk in the city/state offices, all of whom might have reasons other than exact guilt for the specific crime in question to not like that very much.

See, the papers danced around it, tried SOoooooooo very, very hard to make it look like an actual police investigation started this, but it did not, they refused to budge for over a year.

What started this was an angry parent with a tire iron who got sick of being bullshitted and stonewalled and took action himself, had he followed their instructions and cleared the area, they likely would have claimed they couldn't spare anyone to bother with it, and meanwhile the perp would be tipped by internal contacts and pull a fade, no fuss, no muss, no need for an investigation or questions, right ?

Just throw it in the case on file bin and ignore it some more in hopes it'll go away.

But he didn't play ball, and I don't blame him.

As for what happens now, obviously they don't wanna pursue it, too many questions, not the least of which is what took em so long, only gently glossed by the media - which don't get fed for two reasons, number one being that given the state of affairs with newsies being tossed in prison for not rolling their sources, they'd prolly roll my guys in a heartbeat, and I ain't throwing no one under the bus for this...

And number two, there's a limit to how much data you can share without poisoning a case or causing chain of custody issues, and because of that limit it's often not enough to interest the media, they want a full on scandal hand delivered, not a couple whispers and a hint that they might actually have to do some real journalism to fill out - not to mention the fate of what *happens* to newsies who push this button, as a general rule.

So, if we can locate members of the families willing to involve themselves, or even better, willing to involve their *lawyers*, and start laying pressure to some departments over known rings that are being ignored, specifically North Carolina, that's an angle we're gonna push.

Problem with that is a lot of the victims are fully estranged from or on hostile terms with their families, which is what lead them into this mess to begin with, but we will see.

And yeah, this kinda stuff has a psychological impact, as discussed before, which is why the best folk to do it are some downright nasty critters in their own right, that seems to be a pretty effective insulation from the horror, just from an empirical/anecdotal standpoint.

Scuse me while I seethe some more.

Nah, too busy playing THIS game to you know, actually go after people doing the harm, wasting time on lookers and lurkers while the true perps get a free pass.
http://www.news.com/8301-13578_3-9899151-38.html

I tell you folk, watch OUT for this shit.

Now, they deny spamming or posting to the links in forums with a misleading title, but I call bullshit on their denial cause they were spamming that crap via AOL's email as early as 1996 via operation innocent images, and one of their BEST little tricks was that sure, they made it look like spam for a child porn site...

BUT, they included a *VERY* official looking AOL logo and "Report this site as inappropriate" link at the bottom of the page...

Which lead to ?
Why, the same link, of course.
Bang, entrapment.

The FBI has a history of going after folks who report this crap too, case in point: Alice.

Typical mom, housewife, not really computer literate lady, accidently clicked a link on some non related site - which, these days when every friggin square inch of them is COVERED with the damned things in hopes you'll do just that, is understandable...

This sends her into the hostile javascript popup window cascade, assaulting her with some *awful* images that really shook her - she yanked the power cord and called the cops, who told her to call the FBI...

Who showed up and arrested HER!

Their take on it was why should they bother chasing down whoevers site it was, too much work and we have a bust in hand already, yay.

And proceeded to dismantle her PC, sweep it's cache and charge her with the crime, quite successfully in spite of our every effort to get the media involved and stop this travesty - and now this lady, this ordinary every day household mom (or WAS, rather) is a registered sex offender out on parole and forbidden contact with her own daughter for the horrible crime of...

Reporting a crime.

What kinda message do you think that sends to folks who mean to help ?

Why, exactly the one they want - don't fuckin report it, don't make us have to work, or you'll fry first if we can manage it.

Make no mistake folks, the days of Marcus Lawson and US Customs Enforcement are long gone, these days they *WILL* hang you out to dry if they can get away with it, and for nothing.

And all the while folks like Willoughby get a pass, while they round up lookers, lurkers, and common joes who hit a link by accident.

And even if the Feddies DIDN'T deliberately camo the links, what's to stop some hacker asswhole from reposting them to any forum camoed in such a fashion - nothing, and the feds know it, COUNT on it, for free busts that have nothing to do with any kind of crime.

Alice works for me now, in an information processing capacity, cause the mere sight of a uniformed law officer sends her into an uncontrollable shaking rage - trust me folks, you've *never* seen cop hatred as pure as what rests in that womans heart, they made her a monster, and I made her my monster.

And is was all for nothing.
So the Feddies could have a free bust, pat themselves on the back, and say they're "doing something"...

I want you people to remember that EVERY SINGLE TIME, you are about to click on a link of any kind, and think real hard about what happened to Alice.

And ponder that it could happen just as easily, to you.

Still think the Feddies are the good guys ?

God, Frem. That story about Alice is infuriating. Send her my sympathies.

There are probably around a million folks in "white" slavery, and this is they bust people for?

I just watched the film Human Trafficking, with Donald Sutherland and Mira Sorvino, right after I watched Rambo blow up genocidal Burmese soldiers. Of all the evil shit people do to each other, this is what our authorities spend their time doing?

I'm glad there is a place where Alice can put her well deserved rage to good use.

Yeah, it is.

The shit they are currently pulling is worse, and why ?

Watch.

(HTML widgets removed cause that trick doesn't work with this board, thankfully, but there's a million ways to do it, folks!)

It's just that fuckin easy.

Any little myspace brat can do it, any where, any time, and if you're not paying attention, if you're not *rabidly* paranoid about the surety of the links you click, or even hit it by accident...

Bang.

And the feddies not only can't prevent it, they're COUNTING on it for free, easy busts, cause you know damn well once they get their foot in the door, even if they KNOW it's a bogus bust and there's no illegal porn to charge with, they'll go on a fishing expedition, sure as shit they will.

And with so many laws, so many nitpicks, they'll FIND something, hell, a cigarette lighter qualifies as paraphanelia, your fertilizer, suspicion of growing pot, and what are these baggies in the kitchen for ? *eyeroll*

It's a fuckin setup, playing off a knee jerk reaction aimed at a crowd of people no one in thier right mind would actively defend.

And from there, if successful, they'll take it against, say..
"Copyright Infringers" or "Software Pirates"
You know, something a little more debateable.

And so on, and so forth - but the TRUTH is that most of the folks being hit with this are innocent to begin with.

Case in point, there's a local* who recently got accused, who was a bit paranoid to begin with, and mind you, the guys a freakin backwoods type hermit who sees another person about maybe twice a month, so as you can imagine the idea of this dude being a perv was ridiculous as he was more of a religious-spiritual asthetic than anything else, leastways by the stuff they dragged out of his place he sure was, and not a bit of it illegal whatsoever.

And yet this guy, who was suspicious of secular authorities, for whatever reason, got tipped, probably by the locals, when the freakin goon squad rolled into town - that right there oughta tell you the locals did NOT think he was a threat to their community if they felt the pressing need to warn him, yes ?
(Apparently SIX people called him, according to the feddie bitching)

Now ponder this... how SURE can you be, that there's nothing that could be considered "illegal" on your comp ? how SURE, hmm ?

Nothing some website dumped into your cache ?
No MP3s of dubious source ?
No MIDI files you haven't paid the eight dollar registration fee for ?
You have all your original Windows licensing and documentation with seals handy, right ?
And all your recipts, yes ?
For EVERY bit of software, hmm ?
No uncredited copyrighted images, perhaps ?

I could go on, but you get the idea, right - once your comp is in their hands, you're going to jail no matter how innocent you are.

Said local geezer left them nothing to work with, however, took a shotgun to the machine, grabbed his hunting bag and skipped off into the hills, prolly chucked his cellphone down the well, since they tried locating it to no avail.

Given the propensity for illegal content to "appear" on a machine after it finds it's way into their hands, I don't fekkin blame him, neither - supposedly his lawyer has since contacted the authorities and pointed out that they have nothing to charge him with, since he owned the machine in question and did not discharge the weapon around people or within city limits... and his place was clean as a whistle, naught but an austere, spartan religious mans small house.

But of course, you know, they wanna arrest him for resisting arrest, the old law enforcement catch-22 when you don't bend knee to the lords like a good little peon.

The local sherriff didn't even blink, just pulled the toothpick out of his teeth and told em if they want him, they can damn well go up there and get him themselves, oh, and watch out for that mossberg cause he hunts buck with it and he's a damned good shot, dontcha know...

I figure in a couple days they'll offer some bullshit minor charges to his lawyer and get it sorted, but can you *IMAGINE* if it was YOU on the bitch-slap end of the State, right out of the blue at 3am on a thursday morning for no better reason than getting rooked by some hackers prank link on a message board ?

And yes, they've been doing 3am "Dynamic Entry" to serve the fuckin warrants, too, hoo-rah and all that shit.

Meanwhile real crimes go uninvestigated and unprosecuted, cause these alphabet agency dickheads are too busy CREATING crimes and harrassing those they're supposed to be protecting.

Remember, these are the same asswipes who gave Ramzi Youssef a bomb expert, bomb plans, bomb ingredients, had the expert wire it all up, and then forbade said expert to sabotage it - resulting directly in the bombing of the WTC in 1993.

They're too busy COMMITTING crime, to worrry about solving any.

In fact, you don't have to do a thing... just have Wifi, at all.

Clipped from a discussion elsewhere...

So some old lady who doesn’t know how to secure her wi-fi network, will have some fbi goons bust down her door, put a gun to her head, just because someone “borrowed” her wi-fi to look at porn?

# 25 GetSmart said, on March 21st, 2008 at 10:14 am

How about a botnet designed to intercept all search requests from any gooberment IP address and re-direct it to these FBI honeypots? The amount of fun and joy you could spread using any number of variations on this theme could be immense.
Let the chaos FLOW!

# 27 badcowboy said, on March 21st, 2008 at 11:25 am

I look at this as a way to harass people. Drive by the house, crack the WEP in 60 seconds, click on a link and wait for the FBI to come kick down their door, confiscate almost everything from their house (computers, mail, etc). Try and argue in a court of technologically inept people that WEP can be cracked and that you had nothing to do with clicking on that link.

They wouldn’t get their computer back for months and the press would be showing their picture as a child pornographer, ruining their reputation, probably getting them fired, divorced, etc.

Makes me think twice about even having a wifi connection available.

Update: Just finished confirmation.

The minivan crew screwed up, and we MIGHT be able to bag them - here's the dope.

The used a more conspicuous vehicle this time, and blew the snatch on top of it, not only did the kid get away, she got a GOOD look and this time the composite sketch is solid.
(and it does match the previous one pretty well)

What caused them to blow it isn't clear, but they dumped the van and came back for maybe a SECOND attempt in the switch-car, which we knew was grey but we do not have a make and model at this time.

And then they hightailed it, which means they are probably laying low right now.

I want these guys so bad I can taste them, cause if they have any connections to these Teen Transport companies it might be a lead on some of the larger exploitation rings.

OK, the way these assholes work is a basic snatch for hire gig.

This isn't just a random grab type of thing, from all accounts they have some specific criteria for the snatch, age, race, hair color, etc...

To date they've not snatched any boys that we know of, but we'll leave that as an outside possibility.

How they do it -

One of them has or jacks a van, usually but apparently not always something very anonymous, like a maroon plymouth voyager or dodge caravan, this MIGHT be the same vehicle with stolen plates, but it's such a common model and color pinning it down has been very difficult, not to mention they have stolen a few of them besides.

They position someone on-site with a cellphone, who spots the target and calls it in, this is how they approach and make the grab/exit so quickly.

Nobody has questioned the locals about suspicious folks with a cellphone nearby just before it happened, and I mean to do that in a couple hours, nice and quietly.

Apparently they use some kind of drug for control, something fast acting and potent, not sure what but we might find out from the kids bloodwork - I really hope she's gonna be ok, would suck to have dodged a snatch only to catch hep-C.

From that point they travel to the switch car, usually placed nearby in a large supermarket or factory parking lot, and it's been reported as a grey car before, though we don't have a make and model, and no assurance they're using the same switch car every time either.

The grabber and driver take off with the 'package' to parts unknown and leave the van in place, and the on-site guy watches for a while to see if any heat comes down on it, and if not, takes it somewhere and disposes of it, the chopshop used at least once was busted but no leads came out of that.

These creeps are a little more pro than just a bunch of goons, and I don't think they were coming back for a second snatch pass, I think they were coming back to pick up to the on-site guy and get out of dodge, thinking that no one would recognize them in a different vehicle.

Keep an eye out for these guys, the link above has a composite sketch and a pretty good one.

They're probably going to go to ground and lay low for a while after this, but that only works to their advantage with the police, who don't really care - but friends in low places are looking too, and if we bag em, we'll put the cops on these bastards if we have to physically drag them there.

I want them OFF my goddamn streets, and I wanna know where the hell the other kids went, curse it.

I wanna know that pretty damn bad too, so they'd best hope the cops get em first.
