Obama said the UN Security Council should vote on resoultion condemning Russia. I guess he doesn't know that Russia is a permanent member of the council, so there will never be any resolution passed. Perhaps he should have called Hillary at 3 am to get a basic understanding. Georgia & Ukraine have wanted to join NATO for years and America has tried to make it happen, but the Europeans have blocked it for fear of pissing off Russia. Now the ball's in their court, 'cause KGB Putee aint stoppin' with Georgia. He wants to get back to the USSR.

Interesting how you dropped the critical qualifying phrase when quoting me. That's "...the left/liberals on this forum", not a sweeping generalization. If some folk here, who I interact with on a regular basis, are doing something and I note it; first, it's not mocking or demeaning, just observation; second, it is people I know something about, at least in the area of online behavior.

I kind'a wonder if it has anything to do with the general Liberal concept of subjugation of the individual for the good of the group. If (editorial)you don't hold the individual in any esteem, then you don't care about anyone's individual dignity. Therefore it's all right to insult them.

I do the tire pressure thing & get engine tune-ups like most Americans do. The offshore thing is NOT being done because Dems continue to block it. So one is being done, and one is not. See the difference? Also, why does Obama assume people don't already do these things? Another one of his Wright-inspired hate-America beliefs perhaps? Is Farrakhan-adoring Obama assuming that Americans don't take care of their cars? Is it because we're too busy clinging to our Bibles and our guns? Is his next energy plan going to be to tell us to only run our air conditioners half as long at half the coolness intensity? Or only use the stove on alternate days? Limit the # of toilet flushes per household too? How about cold showers? He's just chock full of surprises.

How do you know that most Americans do it? It applies to you so it applies to everyone else by extension? Maybe you personally know "most Americans", but the AAA seems to differ with you on this: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb6403/is_200710/ai_n25606190. Just an abstract of the article, but you get the point.

And from this: http://seniorjournal.com/NEWS/Alerts/6-04-24-CheckingAutoTire.htm
we get this: "Only 19 percent of drivers properly check their tire inflation pressure."

And you're obviously just trying to provoke the "liberals" on this board with the rest of your post, and responding to such nonsense can be fun sometimes, but I'm just not in the mood to play today.

By the way, not only does McCain agree with Obama, so do Crist and Schwarzenegger ( http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-me-arnold27-2008jun27,0,195463
4.story
). So you're here bitching about politicians on the left saying Americans should check their tire pressure, when politicians on your side are saying the same thing. My little liberal brain can't comprehend this, what seems to be, double-standard.

I would not want to talk to Hillary at 3am for advice. We've seen her in the daytime...do you really want to risk talking to her when she's sleepy and irritable.

If its 3am and I have to call somebody and I could only pick one person in the whole country to get advice from on this particular issue...it'd be either Condi or John McCain. Both know the players, the region, the terrain, the time and distance factors, the military capabilities, and the economic and political interests of all the interested parties to a Russia-Georgia conflict. Condi is the technical expert, McCain is the guy with more hands on "I know them, I've been there" experiance. Best case is we elect McCain and give him a phone line to Condi.

Well, Condi I can understand, since that region and its 20th century history is her area of expertise, but McCain? Seriously? After all of his gaffes when it comes to geography, and everything else, frankly, you'd still think he's one of the top two people to turn to with respect to this? There's no way he's shown any qualification or expertise to be able to warrant such a vote of confidence from you.

Unless you were referring to this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080813/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_lobbyist

Yes yes, seems like Johnny boy's foreign policy advisor was a lobbyist from Georgia. So maybe you're right and McCain is an expert on Georgia after all. But in this case, something tells me he wouldn't be very impartial. And therefore, not qualified!

Well not really...but...to be honest over the last year or so I've developed a bit of an infatuation with her. Have you ever hated something so much for a long time and then had it all turned around? I think it's just deep admiration for the strength and determination of this woman. During the Primaries I used to think about all those lonely nights for her in hotel rooms, waking up alone, and maybe thinking to herself what the fuck am I doing? She would go out every day, all made up and looking good and fight the good fight. I found that highly admirable, and I find now that I like her more and more.

While Condi is the technical expert, McCain has quietly taken the lead on recent US-Georgia relations.

He has made a number of side trips there during his frequent forays into the Middle East. He is personal friends with the Georgian President. So yes, I'd consider his opinion on the ability and willingness of Georgia to repel the invasion or what would be an acceptable compromise.

A member of his current staff was a paid lobbyist for Georgia. Its likely among that which drew him to McCain's staff...ie they share a common knowledge and interest in that region.

To be fair, McCain has been heavily involved in post-Soviet relationships with Eastern Europe and former Soviet republics.

You're probably right Chris. Any of us can "go negative" about anything or anybody on this board, but I believe it's better to keep things out of the gutter and reasonably rational. This chap is like PN, except without the stinging quarter-truths and funny pictures.

The BEST response to an out-and-out troll is simply to ignore them. They feed on your negative energy, they long for your irate response. Nothing makes 'em go away like no response at all. I know it's tough, but you... you're better and more mature than a troll, and you can withstand a troll's manipulations. Right?

HERO... I thought you should know...
Quote:

The fact is that most people in South Oessetia see themselves as Russians- not Georgians- and have done so for the past 150 years. But in addition, there are maneuverings going on behind the scenes, just as there were before.

So, hell, if you can't have a REAL war because the military is stretched thin, how about cooking up an event? Just prod the Georgian President, give him an endless string of promises and utterances of support, point him in the direction of the Russian bear and tell him to go poke it in the snoot. Then backpeddle away from doing anything real while using it as a backdrop for your campaign.

I just hope that McCain doesn't get his publicity stunt confused with reality, like Bush did.

-----------
It turns out that McCains chief foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann, is not only Georgia's chief Washington lobbyist, he's also a Rumsfeld devotee, a neocon, a member of PNAC, and was ONE of the instigators of the invasion of Iraq

QUOTE: One of the most successful neocon groups was the U.S. Committee on NATO, directed by Bruce Jackson. Other board members included Randy Scheunemann, Julie Finley, and Gary Schmitt, who like Jackson have been tangled with three other organizations: the Project on Transitional Democracies, the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, and the Project for the New American Century. Both the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq and the Project on Transitional Democracies were PNAC spin-offs.

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig4/barry-tom3.html

(This was written in 2004, so it's not new news or a convenient rewrite of history. All I did was google: Randy Scheunemann + PNAC.

So the McCain campaign is just another cover for the same neocons as before. It's beginning to look as if the necon strategy is to pick an easily manipulated idiot and ride him into the White House. Four more years... indeed!
