EDINBURG, Texas - A nearly half-ton Texas woman charged in the death of her 2-year old nephew will remain at home because the county jail lacks a large enough cell or the medical resources. Mayra Rosales, 27, must wear a global positioning system tracker.

from the Dallas Morning News - August 27

I'm not sure which is more disturbing - the fact that this woman (young woman) - gets away with murder - or that she weighs about 1000 pounds...!!

How do people let themselves gain that much weight -??

Think you're missing the scary point here, both of you....

Recently they raided a plant and put over 600 of these trackers on illegals.

Doesn't it kind of scare you that they might have these things on everyone someday?

She's the only person on Earth who eats more than Michael Phelps.

I guess she won't be leading the Dem's "race to the future".

Perhaps she fattened up with hopes to be cast as the half-human/half Hutt cousin of Jabba in Lucas' next feature.

Perhaps she's following the Rosie O'Donnell diet.

Maybe she's being developed by Global Warming scientists to be dropped into the ocean to raise the sea level back to normal.

Perhaps she's being prepared by NASA scientists to be dropped off at the North Pole to put Earth in a new orbit; a better orbital plane to lessen the harmful effects of gamma rays and solar flares due to our weakened ozone layer.

Maybe marine biologists are going to use her to attempt direct verbal communication with the endangered blue whale.

Maybe she's auditioning to be Hannah Montana's new tour bus.

Have a Happy Day!

I doubt she's going to make a run for the border, so its probably ok to let her have a bond.

we are being watched... even without the tracking devices attached to our ankles... there are plenty of ways to be tracked...

All jokes aside, this fat cow looks to have killed a child.

If it turns out this is true... Shes already a prisoner in her own home (BY CHOICE) so how do you punish her/it?

I find it hard to believe anyone could weigh a thousand pounds just by overeating, there's gotta be some serious weird medical condition at work there. But yeah, it's not like she's going anywhere anytime soon...

Got a cellphone? leave it on? They can already track you.

ahh... good. I was worried there for a minute. I thought all this fascist stuff was something new. Good to know it's been going on already and everything is a-ok. Sure makes me sleep easier.

There's merits to using outdated equipment sometimes, that being one of em - what you should worry about is when they BUILD shit with backdoors in it, like most american firewall and antivirus stuff now, cell phones, etc...

I had a girl being stalked/harrassed by an employee of her cellphone company, the bastard was actually able to record her families dinner table conversations, edit them out of context, and put them on her answering machine.

The company, of course, being under some kind of gag order about those backdoors, would not get off their ass on the matter and it came to my people, at which point it became dead bang simple once it was known he had wants and warrants for that kind of behavior before.

It's not JUST the Feddies you should worry about, when they build hard-wired back doors into stuff to make it easier to spy on you, it's a big gaping hole in your personal security for any hacker weenie to exploit, and alas that they're actually BETTER at it than the Feddies....

I'd like to see a legal precedent set by someone over being sold unsecure equipment and/or faulty product over a Firewall with a hard-coded loophole in it, cause that's just freakin nuts.
(And why I buy MY software from the Netherlands.)

People need to take an active role in their own personal security these days, sadly - once the last payment on the car was made, all the black boxes were immediately disabled, and you couldn't pay me to drive something with an Onstar in it.

Also am a bit sketchy about the GPS unit in the cab now as well, after a tech-adept friend pranked me by having it give me false directions to get me lost as a joke - which failed cause I have a manual ball-type compass hanging from the rearview as backup since I get east and west confused so easily to begin with.

One really needs a damn hefty dose of skepticism and paranoia to get by in the world today, the time when you could trust a company not to boobytrap it's products is long in the past, if it were ever true in the first place.

*Yes, for a cab driver, I have a notoriously poor sense of direction, but I have an awesome set of custom printed and laminated maps in 8x10 format in a notebook between the front seats, and a mechanical compass, so I do ok.

Ummm... Oh-KAY. What, are they afraid they might lose her somewhere? Christ, man, she doesn't need a GPS tracker - she's as big as a small planetoid. Can't they just keep an eye on her with a weather satellite? Tie her down in Lakehurst, New Jersey? "Oh, the humanity!!!"

One thousand pounds. That's commitment, baby. That's beyond letting yourself go. That's walking into a restaurant, pulling a stool up to the salad trough, and saying "I'll have the salad bar." The ENTIRE salad bar - and that's just the appetizer!

This is the kind of thing that people say, "I've got a gland problem". Yeah - your saliva glands! You hear the dinner bell ringin', and you start drooling like Pavlov's freaking DOG!

So how'd she kill the kid, anyway? Sit on him? Lose him in a fold of flab? Try to breast-feed him and choke him with the country gravy that she secretes?

It's the GPS thing that just kills me. I can't get the image out of my head, of a GPS satellite orbiting this blimp as she waddles around the house.

She's so fat that when she sits around the house, she literally sits AROUND the house!

Okay, I think I've got that out of my system...
