Barack Obama has put out an ad attacking John McCain because he "can't send an e-mail".

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9359KL80&show_article=1

Obama and his campaign team are idiots. Because, if they had done the research then they would know that John McCain can't use a keyboard because of the horrific torture he received as a POW during the Vietnam War.

As explained in the Boston Globe in March of 2000:

"McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes."

Oh jesus GET A GRIP. They are saying that he is OLD.

NOT that he can not use the KEYBOARD.

He can not us a f(*king computer. Please pick something real and important to worry about!

"He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail, still doesn't understand the economy, and favors two hundred billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class," it says. It shows video of McCain getting out of a golf cart with former President George H.W. Bush and closes with a photo of him standing with the current President Bush at the White House. "After one president who was out of touch, we just can't afford more of the same."

He can take off and land a jet on a carrier, but can't send e-mail ?

Now that's just funny.

Weird - I know quadriplegics who can send e-mails and use computers. I guess McCain's just too old to learn how to use new technology... But don't worry; his latest wife will still be there to help send e-mails for him and change his diapers.

Hello,

I feel that politicians are grasping at straws to be offended nowadays.

In fact, this thread might as well read:

"NOMINEE MAKES LAME GRAB FOR SYMPATHY VOTES AFTER OPPONENT GIVES SPEECH."

Does anyone else feel that the political environment has sunk to the level of, "He who can make a show of suffering the most offense, wins?"

Vietnam veterans mock McCain's war injuries:

McCain's war injuries were from a botched ejection, not from torture.

McCain got a VIP vacation in Communist Vietnam, Communist China and Communist Russia during the Vietnam Wars, as reward for McCain's 32 propaganda broadcasts for Communist N Vietnam.

As a US senator, McCain blocked return of 50,000 US and UK POW/MIAs.

Hello,

I find it hard to imagine a situation that the president should find himself in, where he is in desperate need of an email and no one is available to help him.

It is enough that he knows what computers are and what they can do. I do not require that he personally operate them, as he will not personally need to.

As disqualifiers for power go, computer skills are not even on my radar.

Do you think it is wise to poke fun at the old, especially when the Democrats are trying to woo the Floridian vote its way? If this is true and Obama said that McCain cannot send an email because he is old and out of touch, then all McCain has to do is reiterate that closer towards November to remind the Floridians of Obama's slight to the aged. I will remind people that as President if McCain ever won he would never have to send an email to anyone. He could tell one of his staffers to do it.

Anthony, I understand that - but when you have a guy setting POLICY about something, for example, what and where the limits are for these alphabet goons snooping on peoples email, don't you think that at LEAST a basic working knowledge of the subject at hand is a good idea ?

Too damn much temptation to shrug it off and let em do as they please cause he don't use it anyway, or misunderstand it's nature and allow things he should not.

Whether we like it or not, the internet is now part of our culture, and has been such a tremendous tool in digging past the usual mushroom treatment we mere peons usually get, that I cannot bear the thought of it being strangled during the administration of someone who has no concept of it's use or value.

And no, I DON'T want that in the hands of a policy advisor, given how such advisors as Feith, Libby, Rove and Wolfowitz walked us off a plank cause THIS administration had no clue or concept of middle eastern affairs.

I see actual danger looming here, or I would not have taken such issue with it.

While impossible to prepare for every eventuality, those who prepare for those that they do predict, are often around to bury the less fortunate.

While we're on the subject (or rather, bringing us BACK to the subject) of mocking war injuries, I noticed no one on the right has expressed their outrage over Meghan McCain's on-air comments in which she claimed that

Quote:

No one knows what war is like other than my family....PERIOD!

Isn't this deeply disrespectful of the tens of thousands of families of wounded and killed American military personnel? Does she think she has sole claim on knowing what loss and heartache are like, and those families know nothing of pain and loss?

Where's the "support" for our troops? Or don't they count?

Hello,

That comment is indeed disrespectful and ignorant, Mike...

But who the hell cares? The person who made that comment is not germaine to the political debate. They're just someone's kid, and as I've stated before, I don't care what people's kids do. Whether they are getting pregnant, serving in Iraq, or talking smack, they are not the conduit by which I view my leaders.

But if she runs for office, I may re-examine my position.

"They're just someone's kid" - true enough, but she is actively campaigning for her father, and she wasn't being interviewed because she's just some kid.

Do I care what the candidates' kids do or say? Not until their family and the campaign puts them front and center in an attempt to use them to benefit their campaign - and then you have to take the good with the bad.

Hello Frem,

To answer your question, no. I don't think he needs working knowledge of the technology, merely conceptual knowledge.

I don't think the pres needs to know how to fly a plane or drive a tank, or handle a gun, in order to be Commander in Chief.

I do think he needs to understand what those devices do.

Who else is sick of Republican fragile sensabilities and whiney phony outrage?

Crybaby cry, make your Mother sigh...

Sarah Palin said women shouldn't "whine" about the press climbing up thier asses. Hillary has grafitti up in there, and she still probably shits out lost Fox News reporters occaisonaly...Yep...Sarah, as her Republican voters call her, loved it when it was happening to Hillary. McCain's tough enough from that prison camp that even if Obama did make fun of him, which he didn't, the only crybabys squeeling like Ned Beatty would be McCain Republicans not the big guy. Ya think Fox News might be turning viewers into thier whiney bitches so the big guy doesn't have to?

And what sort of inability will the McCain/Rove/Palin campaign glorify next? Glorification of uneducated white males over fifty made them McCain's #1 demographic. "Common sense" is valued more a college education to these...Rovebots. When is the last time we heard the McCain campaign emphasize the importance of college. They emphasize the importance of faith/Church all the time. People who went to church instead of college are a huge demographic for McCain as well. McCain is targeting the uneducated in red states, that way the fact that he very nearly flunked out of Annapolis is neutral to attractive to thier base. Thompson implied at the RNC Convention that his poor college performance showed what a maverick he is. If the McCain campaign does a Top Gun/Maverick reference I'm moving to Uruguay.
