What can I say....the guy is terrific with a mike. The intimate nature of the debate did not lend itself to negativism and personal attacks. McCain tried a few times, but he scored no runs. Obama was simply too well prepared.

Like Biden last week, Obama was ready to respond to anything McCain said or brought up. It really is obvious that the Obama advisors are far superior to the McCain advisors in this regard. His opening attack on AIG was outstanding, calling for the Execs who spent $500k at a spa retreat after getting an $85 billion bailout to be fired, and the money returned to the Govt. Amazing! Exactly what Americans wanted to hear. Exactly what Dick Morris & O'Reilly were pontificating before the debate that McCain needed to do. And Obama himself is un-deniably impressive. These are hard words for me to say, but one cannot fool oneself, can one? I think most Republicans, despite some of the absurd post-debate spin, felt as I did last night; that McCain failed to do what was deemed necessary by the pundits. I kept shaking my head and going jeeesh every time Obama took the mike and just completely excelled on every point of the debate. I see now how he was able to dispatch Hillary, an incredible acheivement in of itself. So congratulations Mr. Obama. You won the critical second debate. You were at least as good as JFK was in his debate against Nixon, and I thought the reference quote about setting long-term goals, ala Kennedy's "going to the moon" was bold and brilliant.

Or it could be that Obama is all style-over-substance.

Just like the Democratic party, Obama is all talk.

I won't be voting for either of them, 3rd party hell for me. But really? If I had to choose the lesser of 2 evils...I'd still go for the guy that actually bled for his country. The one who got TORTURED and STILL kept his HONOR.

I have things to say. No one listens. Trust me.

None of you will ever change your minds. You (on both sides(because 90% of the posters here honestly believe that there are only 2 sides)) will argue with your dying breath that the other side is more wrong than you are). Both sides think they are "saving our country", just as one side converts the "home of the free", to the "home of the cowards". The "leader of the free world", to the "leader of the communist world."

Others convert us from defenders to antagonists. Both sides are wrong!
If you don't see this...... I ask you to open your eyes.

There is no obvious solution. There is no A is better than B. A and B both suck.

Do you want to be a victim? Do you want all of the US to be victims? Well, then.... vote for that pussifist Obama.

Do you want us to be the aggressive dicks who teach everyone to.... "bow before us or be crushed beneath us."? Then Macain/Palin will light your way.

We don't have a clear path at this point, but we have a choice between 2 paths that will either maintain, or remove our freedoms.

Do you want to pack a firearm? Do you want the person who plans to rob/rape you to think twice? Believe you may fight back? ...Or do you want them to know for a fact that they, as a criminal, are the only ones to have a weapon?

I believe that the right to bear arms should be closer to the "requirement" to bear arms. Who would walk into a bank to rob them, if they "KNEW" everyone inside was armed?

Some of the posters here think that Bush is responsible for every pain we've experienced. He's far from guilt free. If you think he's solo in the blame game, You've failed to be objective enough in the observation of information.
Blame exists on both sides.

I blame Clinton for being too obsessed with "Watching" other people play golf to give the "kill" order when Osama was in our sights.( http://www.curledup.com/derelict.htm)

I blame Bush for waiting patiently when news of 9/11 reached him. He could have ordered "full spread, maximum yield" on our nukes right then.

But he didn't.
He waited.
He looked for ways to negotiate. He sent troops overseas instead of nukes. Yet, some people blame him for that. Maybe he isn't smart, maybe he shoulda let the nukes fly.

Honesty.... is hardly ever heard.

All issues facing us are important, whether domestic or foreign. They can be, and have been debated endlessly. We're talking about the election here, an election 27 days away. No other issue, no other character assassination attack, no Iraq plan, no Afghanistan plan, no other anything means diddly-squat except the Economy now. McCain had maybe his last shot at this election, but the Maverick voted for the bailout, and he has the same nebulous answers as his opponent. That translates to his opponent winning.

If I were Obama, there would be things I WOULDN'T be saying right now... but I'd be thinking them.

One of the things I WOULDN'T say right now is that I would effect savings by using government purchasing power to negotiate better drug prices for Medicare. (Thanks, Bush, for shoveling $$$ at the pharmas.) The last person to tangle with pharmas and health insurances got flattened into road pizza.

The other thing I WOULDN'T be saying (too loudly) is that the only thing that will help our economy is a big reversal of the past eight years of "trickle-down" policies. "Trickle-down" has only brought us closer to third-world status: the very few rich among the very many poor. Both Joe Biden and Obama hinted at it, but the super-wealthy aren't going to be very happy about it. There is a REASON my tag-line is "Let's party like it's 1929", and that is the disparity of income, which has reached 1929 proportions.

A few other things I would keep absolutely quiet about: THE ECONOMY IS GOING TO GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER, re-regulation of the financial markets, deglomeration of the media, changing the "bailout" plan, closing corporate tax loopholes, and reducing our military footprint. All of the changes would create very powerful enemies.

I have absolutley NO IDEA what Obama plans to do, but if he is thinking about ANY of these things he would do well to keep his mouth shut.

All Obama and Biden have to do to win is to just not screw up in the next 26.5 days. And putting aside the plethora of issues and policies, the only thing that really matters is winning. Their fate is solely in their own hands now.

McCain has just about run out of strategies to defeat Obama. Like Hillary & Bill, he and his campaign completely under-estimated the length, width, and breadth of Obama's intelligence and charisma.

I think McCain must immediately curtail the negative character attacks against Obama, and re-group one final time. They need to spend their money not on TV ads, but actually buying up TV time, if that's even possibly any more. Make a case to the American people, in a semi-concilliatory manner that there is a danger to America with Obama as President...no not the danger that Palin is trying un-successfully to hype, but the danger of one Party being in control of Congess and the White House. I think that's a legitimate concern people have about our government. Especially when Obama could possibly have a super-majority rubber-stamping any piece of Dem legislation they want signed. But in honesty, I think McCain's campaign will not stop the attacks, and will not show contrition in the face of the almost inevitable. Republican "leaders" (oxymoron extraordinnaire) are too stupid to keep up with Obama, it's just that simple.

Might wanna visit this thread for some ideas.
http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=18&t=35174

I know they're both shitheads - and actually, I went from pulling third party to Obamalamadingdong as a purely defensive measure to buy time enough to cripple BOTH parties politically while we sort an alternative that's actually coherent and works.

No one's gonna save us, we gotta do it ourselves, and for THAT, we're gonna have to step up OUR game as citizens, instead of acting like subjects.

It don't end at the election, that's just the *beginning*, and we'd best not let the pressure off this time around, cause for a fact we cannot trust either mainstream party to see to anyones needs but their own.

And so, we MAKE them - it's just like the mudders in Jaynestown, if we're all together on a thing, there's too many of us, and they have to give in.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

Also did anybody else think the learned senator from Arizona was about to bust out some serious original gangsta rap while he stalked about on stage looking very angry.
