That's just how it works. I saw a snippet of a new interview with him by Charles Gibson. Bush looks bewildered and bedraggled by the whole thing. It's very sad to see, because Bush is a decent man who did what he thought was necessary to protect America from further attacks. Why is it that people think Barney Frank was behind this? After all, for most of Bush's tenure as president, Frank was merely the ranking Democratic member of the committee - a committee chaired and run by the Republicans who controlled Congress during the time in which Bush allegedly called for more regulation in the mortgage industry and less in virtually every other part of business.

So while Frank isn't completely blameless, it was a Republican-led Congress that refused to do Bush's bidding, wasn't it?

First of all, as Kwicko has so kindly pointed out, being the ranking Democrat in committee means absolutely diddly if the Chair is Republican. Secondly, while there was a problem at Fannie and Freddie it was not a MAJOR problem compared to the commercial banks. When you work the numbers (details, man, details!!) Freddie and Fannie account for only a small portion of the overall "toxic mortgage" problem. They neither made them, nor did they buy, bundle, and resell anywhere near as much as the banks. So how does that make it "all" the Dem's fault? What about that other 85%? You've never demonstrated a causal link between Fannie, Freddie, and the economic meltdown. And no, repeating it over and over and over again doesn't count!

And BTW- those "laws" and "lawsuits" that you keep referring to. You have not been able to show even a single instance of that happening, and that story about Obama suing to make Citibank lend to poor people.... hell, man, even Snopes says that's FALSE.
