If you want folk to watch two hours of video, you should probably provide a synopsis or a teaser to explain what they're going to watch or catch their interest.

Be that as it may, the less I say, the better, given the subject matter.

Don't need to sit and watch a video about what I already know.

Which, since buying a pig in a poke has never appealed to me, I'll never see.

I think this is the perfect synopsis of the movie, AU.

Sorry, but I know why I feel the way I do, and can explain it to anyone who'd like to know. I don't merely take the position of one wing or another. And folks who hear that get mad, because we're not suppose to be so sure of why we feel the way we do. Folks aren't suppose to be so sure of themselves. If my views makes someone else upset, then I'M the one who has to change? Sorry, try looking in the mirror. It might not be the other person who is wrong.

Ever think of that, genius ?

Me, genius? Wow.. thanks!

Yeah. I thought about it. That's exactly what the movie's about. It's not knocking the idea of conviction. And it's not advocating left or right. It's asking the question "How can we get along in a country when there are such strong convictions and each considers the other intolerably wrong?" - so much so that they won't even attempt to see things from the other fella's point of view.

Okay, I'm personally up for watching a less than 3 min video, reading 200 words of a post not directed at me.

Everyon's time is valuable, long rants to the general public are unwarranted. I've been guilty myself, so I'm pulling a Hoffer here.

Anything hostile directed at me, I'll skip. I might post a little troll icon. Things directed at me and not hostile, I'll read.

Information, esp. about politics, please summarize in <200 words.

It's very well done. Covers a lot of ground and gets to some of the core issues - not the topical, political stuff, but the issues of media and culture that are making it so hard to engage in productive debate. Well worth the effort.

It looks good,

and topic is imperitive I think. Thanks for the post. I'll definitely finish watching it at some point.

Good point. I don't click on blind items. As I probably won't bother with this, sight-unseen.

Yeah, it's better to avoid things that might challenge your existing beliefs.

Step off your high horse, there. It has nothing to do with "beleifs", I don't even know what the subject is, for fuck's sake. I see a shitload of blind items posted on boards every day. I don't have the time to go through them, hoping that maybe some are worthwhile, as, in my experience, most are not.

If this one is, well then, the poster could have put forth the effort of a few words to indicate what the subject was. Since they couldn't be bothered to put in that little effort, why the fuck should I?

Now, that has been changed in the original post, so the context is different. I may watch it, when I have the time.

But if you want to feel high and mighty because I won't waste my time with something posted with no information at all, well, feel free to piss right off.

Heh.. I'll have to find a ladder.

OK, there. I don't have a problem with you guys wanting to know something about the thing before you check it out. That's why I posted just such a description. DT asked for less than 200 words, so I kept it short. Causal was being coy in not giving more details, but I think the point of that was to avoid imposing any preconceived notions.

Regardless, it's not an advocacy piece. It's a relatively academic examination of the rather dysfunctional state of public discourse. It's not blaming any side and equally respectful to both.

Check it out if you have time. I think it could provoke some really fruitful discussions, especially on this board because we have some fairly intelligent people on both sides of the "divide".

Resistance is futile, but comes from everyone having little free time and having it wasted before by Al Gore and Michael Moore et al.

I thought America freedom to fascism was decent, a little discombobulated, but a dying man's last rant. Zeitgeist had some points, but it was way to quick to bop people over the head and say "religion is stupid." Inconvenient truth was idiotic. Nobel Peace Prize? How about a Razz? The real inconvenient truth is that not only is Gore boring but a moron or something, the science was so bad he defeated a basically factually solid argument. No one who cares about global warming should hail this, they should recognize it as their own Richard Dawkings : much easier to shoot down than the argument itself. As for michael moore, a lot of melodrama and poorly constructed conspiracy theories. I think moore just isn't that bright. So, either side, it's hard to get someone to sit through 2 hours of this stuff.

Make us a preview, then we'll know if we want to watch the movie :0
