What do you mean "w/o a shred of ecidence"? This is the Prosecutor who went after the Bush administration regarding the Plame outing and they have weeks of audio recordings where the Governor comes right out and says that he's selling the seat and other favors too.

As for Obama, there are widely circulated reports from November 5th that he met with the Governor to discuss his seat. Meetings confirmed by his aides, but denied this week by Obama. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is "Number 5" and he's got some problems. Probably not enough to be criminal, but enough to keep him from getting the seat. If Jackson confirms a shakedown for campaign cash, then this case is done. I'm not sure Jackson will be able to fully cooperate, but I can't imagine him being charged unless its for something stupid...like lying under oath to the Grand Jury or something (this Prosecutor hates that).

Edited to add: The ONLY way this comes back to Obama is if they can prove the deal the Governor claims to have brokered were the governor gets the union deal, the seat goes to Obama's choice, and the union gets a deal from Obama at a later date. The only evidence of this package is from the Governor's mouth and thats not proof against Obama, just proof the Governor was selling the seat for cash, prizes, and players to be named later.
