NO. I suggest you learn to read in order to be able to figure out what I posted.

That makes three questions you haven't answered:

Are you on drugs ?

What does being born elsewhere have to do with your association with political corruption ? If true, according to you, that would make Obama whiter than the driven snow. Seeing as he was born in Hawaii, or Kenya, or Indonesia - or -anywhere but Chicago.

BTW - have you figured out what your big ass assumption was ?

But But But!!!!!!

the Prosecutor in this case is Fitzgerald of Plamegate fame,

clearly he is a crooked man with an axe to grind here! We know he isn't to be trusted. The case should be thrown out at once,

because we ALL know there was nothing to see there in Plamegate either....right? Well, right?

See Rue, others can turn things around , ignore and go off on completely irrelevent tangents, like you and your irrational "GOP " remark, on this, a totally Democratic story.

And Rue, are you saying that Hawaiian's are white ? Is that what you think ?

First question, which I am answering for you:

These are your words.
"Even if he didn't play ball, if he DID know it was going on, and kept quiet, that's still a problem. But just goes to show how crooked Chicago politics is ( Rezko ) and that Obama was knee deep in it, from the get go."

Here they are with the assumptions bolded:
"Even if he didn't play ball, if he DID know it was going on, and (if he) kept quiet, that's still a problem."

But then you went on with your assumption, treating it is if it was fact:
But just goes to show how crooked Chicago politics is ( Rezko ) and that Obama was knee deep in it, from the get go."

Well, you claim Obama was involved with dirty politics and Rezko. And yet, after months of investgation and testimony and a trial in which Rezko was found guilty, and for which he (Rezko) is going to jail, no connection was found between Obama and Rezko except a land sale and being neighbors.

So, how would YOU like to be held accountable for YOUR neighbors' activities ? Or do you think it might be unfair to be called a drug dealer after your neighbor's son's drug bust ?

As for the 'other stuff' you've just blown up a neighbor-ship into all sorts of multiple connections with who knows what. (YOU at least don't seem to know, 'cause you're not naming names. "Obama IS part of the dirty, scandal ridden Chicago political machine ... and all" - the infamous, nameless THEM.)

They went poof!. Now Obama isn't a terrorist sympathizer/ ACORN leader anymore he has been morphed by right-wing blowhards into just another corrupt, sleazy, middle-of-the-road politician.

So, which is it? Guilt by assocation with Ayers? Guilt by association with Illinois? Guilt by assocation with Beltway insiders? And what'll it be next week: Guilt by assocation with Wall Street? Guilt by assocation with the UAW?? Teachers? The Big Three? Something else?

Just goes to show any politician can be immediately arrested at any time. Including the president.

"Selective enforcement" however usually creates two types of justice - immunity for govt employees and conviction for US.

Isn’t it odd that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is suddenly arrested on corruption charges the day after he announced he is asking all Illinois government agencies to suspend business with Bank(sters) of America, until the bank reissues credit to the Chicago based company Republic Windows & Doors, a factory which had to lay off 250 workers?

In Chicago, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said prosecutors were making "no allegations" that Obama was aware of any scheming.

And Blagojevich himself, in taped conversations cited by prosecutors, suggested that Obama wouldn't be helpful to him. Even if the governor was to appoint a candidate favored by the Obama team, Blagojevich said, "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation."

The two Illinois politicians have never been especially close and have largely operated in different Democratic Party camps in the state. Blagojevich's disdain for Obama was clear in court documents; he is quoted as calling the president-elect a vulgar term in one phone conversation recorded by the FBI.

Keep the Shiny side up

From the ABC blog.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/12/questions-arise.html

Quote:

On the Chicago TV show "Public Affairs with Jeff Berkowitz" on June 27, 2002, state Sen. Obama said, "Right now, my main focus is to make sure that we elect Rod Blagojevich as Governor, we..."

"You working hard for Rod?" interrupted Berkowitz.

"You betcha," said Obama.

"Hot Rod?" asked the host.

"That's exactly right," Obama said.

In 2004, then-Gov. Blagojevich enthusiastically endorsed Obama for the Senate seat after he won the nomination, and Obama endorsed Blagojevich for his 2006 re-election race in early 2005.

In the Summer of 2006, then-U.S. Sen. Obama backed Blagojevich even though there were serious questions at the time about Blago's hiring practices.

At the time, numerous state agencies had had records subpoenaed, with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald telling authorities he was looking into "very serious allegations of endemic hiring fraud" with a "number of credible witnesses."

In an interview with the Chicago Daily Herald in July 2006, then-Sen. Obama said, "I have not followed closely enough what's been taking place in these investigations to comment on them. Obviously I'm concerned about reports that hiring practices at the state weren't, at times, following appropriate procedures. How high up that went, the degree at which the governor was involved, is not something I'm going to speculate on.

"If I received information that made me believe that any Democrat had not been acting in the public interest, I'd be concerned," Obama said.

That said, Mr. Obama said, "If the governor asks me to work on his behalf, I'll be happy to do it."

So it's not like Pres-elect Obama didn't know the Gov., or didn't support him, even after he was under investigation.

So, Rappy, since Obama MUST have been knee-deep in the corruption simply by dint of being a Chicago-based politician, then it stands to reason that Bush MUST be knee-deep in the corrupt Texas political machine that gave us the likes of Tom Delay. And obviously, since W was governor at the time of much of Delay's antics, he MUST have known about it and said nothing, meaning he's in it far deeper than you think.

Surprise, surprise, another liberal Dem caught selling political office for cashy money. Like Dem Eliot Spitzer, they'll likely start calling the Democrat a Republican in the mainstream media - or at least "forget" to mention he's a Dem (from the accounts I've read so far, no mention made of his party).
Unlike the "unbiased" media, I am not shocked BO is involved. Reason RB gave for appointing himself Senator? To avoid impeachment by IL Legislature. heh.
He would make another fine addition to BO's ultra liberal cabinet.

CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday on charges he brazenly conspired to sell or trade President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder as part of what federal prosecutors called a "political corruption crime spree."

Prosecutors did not accuse Obama himself of any wrongdoing.

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in an attempt to strong-arm the newspaper into firing editorial writers who had criticized him.

The 51-year-old Democrat was also accused of engaging in pay-to-play politics _ that is, doling out jobs, contracts and appointments in return for campaign contributions.

Obama's name is mentioned 44 times in the criminal complaint. The prosecutor went out of his way to say that Obama is not implicated in any way. Most people think it was Emmanuel or the female "Senator A" that turned the Governor into the Feds. Obama will not be damaged by this, in fact it may turn out that his team is worthy of praise. We'll see. This is a distraction the country does not need now.

You haven't been to Hyde Park? No offense, but it's a hell hole. On my last visit, I saw no less than 8 full sized gang fights, and someone shot at my car, as I was driving by, just for being a car. No one walked the streets, everyone rushed from car to house, etc. It degenerated from a normal inner city neighborhood into Baghdad while Obama was representing it. I don't think that was intentional, I just think that he had his eye on promotion, and totally neglected his district.

Ironically, it's worse than that, he's responsible for the gov being caught. It wasn't a war, they were buds, but in order to help his presidential campaign, Obama took a time out from touring to go back and push a sweeping ethics reform in Illinois, which in turn, took down the gov. "Analysis: Scandal threatens to dog Obama
AP – 1 hr 7 mins ago
WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama hasn't even stepped into office and already a scandal — not of his own making — is threatening to dog him."

What a load. It's like WhiteWater Gate - a non-event spun by MSM (aka the right-wing echo chamber) into a froth.

People are tired of this crap and can see through it. No one cares, except partisan operatives like Geezer, and nut jobs.

President-elect Barack Obama is calling for the Illinois governor to resign, Obama's spokesman says.
The end.

Except I'll bet the right-wing will start whining about how Obama is a disloyal, two-faced coward who will stab anybody in the back to further his own nefarious agenda (whatever that is)..

What do you mean "start"? He's been throwing his friends under the bus, one by one, for 2 years. But don't look to us Repubs as the ones inflicting this.......Mr. Olbermann & Ms. Madow were quite the Rush Limbaugh (what did Rue call it?....echo chambers) last night. I was amazed at their take on this, and Madow's conversation with Mike Isakoff was much harder and jaded than Hannity's was with Rove. Actually I thought Rachel Madow was hysterical last night. I laughed out loud when she read portions of the complaint in Bloggie's own disgusting words....priceless! And yes, I did have to turn in my neoConNazi card to be able to watch MSNBC & CNN's coverage. Fox, on the other hand, were muted wimps by comparison.

As an aside, the more I see this play out, the better idea I get of how Obama works, and what this means for his administration.

Obama works by making contacts - as all politicians do - with the people who run the informal groups that make the decisions. And then with that opportunity, and luck and pluck as they say, he springboards forward. He contacts those groups, but is not OF them. No wonder Blagojevich hated him so much. (Well, that and the ethics reforms Obama instituted.)

Frem, you say Biden is the one to watch, who knows where the levers are and how to pull them. But Obama is a VERY quick learner. VERY quick.

He never met with the Governor about his Senate seat...except the time he did...(sigh)

What is it about the truth that so hurts these people? In this case he could say, "yes I met with him and we discussed this issue" which is reasonable and expected under the circumstances. Then "I was shocked to learn of these charges...I had no idea".

Instead he's all "I did not have sex with this woman."

What do you mean "w/o a shred of ecidence"? This is the Prosecutor who went after the Bush administration regarding the Plame outing and they have weeks of audio recordings where the Governor comes right out and says that he's selling the seat and other favors too.

As for Obama, there are widely circulated reports from November 5th that he met with the Governor to discuss his seat. Meetings confirmed by his aides, but denied this week by Obama. Obama needs to clarify this discrepency...but it does not matter because if he did not talk to him about the seat, he should have and if he did, its ok because its expected. http://www.connecttristates.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=217582

Jesse Jackson, Jr. is "Number 5" and he's got some problems. Probably not enough to be criminal, but enough to keep him from getting the seat. If Jackson confirms a shakedown for campaign cash, then this case is done. I'm not sure Jackson will be able to fully cooperate, but I can't imagine him being charged unless its for something stupid...like lying under oath to the Grand Jury or something (this Prosecutor hates that).

Edited to add: The ONLY way this comes back to Obama is if they can prove the deal the Governor claims to have brokered were the governor gets the union deal, the seat goes to Obama's choice, and the union gets a deal from Obama at a later date. The only evidence of this package is from the Governor's mouth and thats not proof against Obama, just proof the Governor was selling the seat for cash, prizes, and players to be named later.

Another guy potentially in hot water is the President of the Illinois State Senate. I forget his name, but he was Obama's mentor and political advisor on Chicago politics in the early days. Obama himself is well-insulated from this, as the complaint quotes Gov Bloghead cursing Obama out because he only would give him "thanks"....no money. They told Blogboy that he would to live with it for 2 years, and that's when he went ballistic. It had to be one of Obama's staff that went to the Feds. # 5 is the only one who agreed to the $500K.

It's Emil Jones
Quote:

A phone call that Barack Obama made three months ago to urge the passage of a state ethics bill indirectly contributed to the downfall of Gov Rod R Blagojevich.

Obama rang his political mentor, Emil Jones Jr, president of the Illinois Senate. Jones was a critic of the legislation, which sought to curb the influence of money in politics, as was Blagojevich, who had vetoed it. But after the call from Obama, the Senate overrode the veto, prompting the Governor to press state contractors for campaign contributions before the law's restrictions could take effect on January 1, prosecutors say.

Obama’s unusual decision to inject himself into a state issue during the height of his presidential campaign was a reminder that despite his historic ascendancy to the White House, he has never quite escaped the murky and insular world of Illinois politics.

It is a world he has long navigated, to the consternation of his critics, by engaging in a kind of realpolitik, Chicago-style, which allowed him to draw strength from his relationships with important players without becoming compromised by their many weaknesses.

From this, I gather that Obama was interested in helping his mentor Emil Jones get clean (enough so that he reached from his national political position back to internal Illinois politics and told Jones to get it done), and willing to let Blagojevich hang. ... more data as to how he parses his choices.

Yep, he's got a fine instructor, remember his veep pick is one of the things that brought me to supporting him - that and the fact that Palin was clearly insane.

Anyhow, expecting a presidential administration in todays toxic political cesspool to function and remain squeaky clean ?

That's a damned unrealistic expectation, it's just not going to happen - but there's scandal and there's scandal...

I couldn't care less who's humping who, Clinton puttin it to Monica didn't concern or bother me a bit, whoop de do, politicians lie, what a non-surprise, wheee.

NAFTA *did* fucking bother me, but the Repugnuts were soooo fire-eyed about Monica they just let that one slide riiiight on by, bunch of blind eyed pig ignorant philistine barbarians all grinding the wrong axe in their fucking endless partisan zealotry...

The Pres can hump who he likes for all I care, but when they get to humping US, the american public, that's when I take issue, and Bush did that, no matter how the same swine who cheerlead it all the way squeal in denial now.

For my part I actually wish Obama wasn't as nice as he is, cause he's gonna go too easy on the folk who got us into this mess, and IMHO, there's only one proper response to such treachery, avarice and incompetence.
