Had it been my daughter, and 3 men were beating on her and trying to pull her into a van...

I would have grabbed the nearest gun I had, run out, and killed all 3 before they even saw me.

Damn the consequences.

And damn anyone who would do differently.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Probably the most damning quote in the article:

Quote:

The city has investigated the matter and found that the conduct of the police officers was appropriate under the circumstances.

So THAT is what they deem appropriate conduct in Galveston, eh?

MRBLUESUN

So wait a minute, the police officers assaulted a 12 yr-old girl who didn't match the description of the people they were looking, in a completely different area to where they were supposed to be, beat her about the head and throat to such an extent that she had to be taken to hospital and leave with sufficient psychological damage that she regularly suffers from nightmares and will most likely be scarred for life AND THEN when her family quite rightly lodges a complaint and tries to sue for damages they arrest her AGAIN ,at her school no less, and arrest her and her father for assaulting a peace officer......WHAT THE HELL?!!!!

I mean the fact that they made such a blunder as to assault someone who bore no resemblance to the people they were looking for simply because they were wearing tight shorts is bad enough, but it strikes me that at that point any normal person would have admitted fault, apologised and paid the consequences of their error NOT turned around and tried to sue them for defending themselves from three plain clothes men who, by the sounds of it, didn't even announce themselves as police officers!!!

And the icing on the cake is this little tid-bit from the cops lawyer:

Quote:

Both the daughter and the father were arrested for assaulting a peace officer. "The father basically attacked police officers as they were trying to take the daughter into custody after she ran off."

Well no sh*t what was the father supposed to do? Let three strange men carry off with his daughter?

What the hell is the human race coming to....

"A thinking tyrant, it seemed to Vetinari, had a much harder job than a ruler raised to power by some idiot system like democracy. At least he could tell the people he was their fault."

FREMDFIRMA

Seems the first anonymous commenter beat me to it.
Cause that's what I was gonna say.

As for had that been say, one of my nieces...

I'd have had to get close, Forquet is not a precision instrument, but my carry piece is, and then that would be it for them.

And, knowing the plain and simple fact that once *that* kind of exchange with the powers that be begins, you're a dead man or worse no matter how right you are.. (see also: Cory Maye)

The kid and wife off to a relative with the bugout bag (kept in case of fire, flood or other emergency, containing supplies, money and needful paperwork) to distance them from the situation, while some throats get slit to make SURE and various equipment gets appropriated during a call to the local news station to report an armed attack on my home by renegade police.
(propaganda value folks, get YOUR load of BS on the screen first, you secure the high ground right off.)

And then wage war instead of bunkering down like a rat in a trap, and get the body count as high as possible.

Would some of the cops on the getting end of that be less foul than those who pulled this stunt - sure, but today, here and now, when stuff like this is downright common, anyone wearing a badge has prettymuch pissed away any right to be viewed as a human being, especially given their membership in organisations that support and defend the deeds of the police no matter how vile they are, like Police Unions and the FOP.

For the reason of covering my own ass, I'll not go into specifics, but the fact remains, if you get in that kind of confrontation and DON'T bend the knee to the lords and masters, quicklike, you're gonna get hurt, and if you DARE fight back, you will die.

And if you're gonna die, why go down easy ?

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

On Long Island (where I lived) in 1980 two cops shot a kid at a university dead for asking for their badge #'s during a bit of brutality, the cops subsequently got an award for avoiding a riot (one that their actions would have been the cause of), so see? It's part of the system.

This is what happens in an unarmed society.

The father SHOULD have just shot the animals beating and assaulting his daughter.

I would have.

Maybe he didn't have a gun, or it wasn't the first thing he thought of? I don't know.

I would love for folks to keep this in mind, the next time an anti-gun thread come along.

The police are NOT your friend. The government is NOT looking out for you.

Yes, some do good, but until we reset the entire infrastructure, we must always be prepared to fight.
