I was actually very frustrated that my reply to River6213's thread "How Do You handle Death", so I have linked in my thread "I aim to misbehave." But back to the main point. Quote:Much like the push by some to limit terms a person can serve in Congress, maybe there out to be a limit on how many threads one can start ? Just an idea. Since I'm designing my own forum, I really truly appreciate suggestions like this. I have nothing against Haken and his page here, It's been great, and will continue, but there should be a place for more controlled discussions. Endless new threads are the ADHD which disrupts constructive thought, much more of a hazard than very long conversations. I don't know if River's 2 1/2 year thread is the longest running on, but clearly too long for the system. Some have been alive for a very long time. At the moment, "I want to be a part of the hate" which was created as a place for people to vent their personal bigotry without fear of retribution, has been threadjacked by everyone, including myself, and mostly now is about the definition of evil and its validity, and some of that is civil, and some of it is a raging crossfire, though not yet a full out flame war. But more specifically, yes, it should, but probably that limit should be weighted. Seniority should play a minor role, to prevent out and out trolling, but more, I think, the number of responses that you get per thread should weigh in. A lot of people here post a fairly high number of threads, which each get a lot of response. I post maybe three a week usually. I'm about to start one because Frem asked me to, and because I want to test the serenity rules. And, also, because I want to discuss the topic. But Whozit has posted probably 3/4th of the threads, and his total number of reponses to all of his threads combined is probably fewer than that of most users. BTW, I also have to say, I envy your ability to use language effectively. In my communication obsession, the ability to put something down as a one liner is an art I need to master.
