The left has been given there marching orders from the Prez, Rush Limbaugh is the left's and media whores new boogie man! Since there are no Republicans in Washington to slap around and be targeted by Barry's whores in the press and in Hollywood, Rush has been placed in the cross hairs. Barry needs an foe and the press and comics need a right-wing target, (they can't make fun of Democrats) so Limbaugh is it. Too bad the media are such whores for the left, when you look at that cast of cartoon charcters on the left like, Barny Frank, Nancy Pelosi, James Carville etc, you'd think the comics would have a field day. But no they are whores for Barry, so papers will go out of buisness, late night comics will go back to telling joke about why there's no toilet paper in gas station rest rooms, and Limbaugh and other right-wing talk show hosts will will corner the market on political humor.

The press and the late night talk show host are missing a treasure trove of material w/ VP Joe Biden. This guy is every bit of evil that Cheney gets blamed for being, and dumber than W ever was. He can't open his mouth w/ out pissing off someone!

But, as we all know, this is how it really is.....

My favorite quote from Rush:

Quote:

Obama was angry that Merrill Lynch used $1.2 million of TARP money to remodel an executive suite. Excuse me, but didn't Merrill have to hire a decorator and contractor? Didn't they have to buy the new furnishings?

Aw, christ. It's so funny it's down-right depressing!

Let me start out by saying I can't stand Rush, I think he's a pompous windbag.

That said, I agree. 1.2 million to remodel isn't unreasonable. I live in a tiny stone 18th c. village upstate, and we just spent twice that doing a half-assed repair job on a bridge. Depends on who you hire. Merril Lynch, I don't know if you've been, it's big. This is like say a 6 month remodelling job, that's 200k/month, that's going to hire what, 20 guys, and some materials? That's not unreasonable. Welcome to the new value of the dollar.

Um. Soooooo, no chance of putting off the remodel during the financial crisis then? Is that why the economy is failing? Because the big banks have offices that are just way too 90's? No chance of maybe allocating the bail-out money to, y'know, stuff that's gonna keep Merril Lynch from bankruptcy? I thought that was the point--how's a shiny new office remodel gonna keep Merril Lynch in the black? Why can't we just skip the fricken remodel all-together?

Cripes, Dream, if I came to you with an unpaid mortgage, doctor bills, on the brink of foreclosure, etc. and you gave me a loan and I spent a chunk of it on a new Armani tux, would that not bother you? Why do we not expect these companies to show any kind of self-restraint given the trouble they (and we) are in?

For those who DON'T listen to Rush enough to 'get' his point, I'll try to s'plain.

He's half kidding, but half not. You see, even when $$ is used on such extravagant things as this, it makes its way into the economy, via construction , interior decorators, supplies, etc.... which is all fine and dandy. However, when the bail out $$ was given to the banks by the Gov't, they essentially didn't limit on HOW the $$ was to be spent. And as is the case here, the bank spent the $$ as it best saw fit..... Rush is against any sort of bail out, which is his main point. Remarks as the above by him are simply his way of "entertaining " the audience.

I don't deal in credit. Frankly, I'd rather they created jobs with the cash than use it to shuffle accounts. Let the debt rot :)

Aw, crap, Raptor, it doesn't take an initiate in his cult to understand what Rush is doing here. It's all just part of his ideology of absolute exploitation. You guys HATE government, yet you're all too happy to see government money wasted. That's called hypocrisy, or nihilism. No one in your fricken world is expected to be trustworthy or give a shit about our country, least not when there's money to be made! "Screw the country, I got 1.5 million dollars to remodel my office! Haw, haw! Joke's on the gov'ment for trusting me with it in the first place!" That you are not offended by this, that Rush can make his smarmy, winking jokes about Merrill Lynch taking advantage of the bail-out when our country's future is at stake, disgusts me beyond words. You Nero. So glad you can enjoy the fiddling while the country burns.

I'm a fan of govt. waste. I used to be near the top of a serious political party that had real ideals, but then I saw the futility of saving govt. The govt. is a giant killer robot. It's a question of whether you oil its fears and then

oh fuck. gears , It's a question of whether you oil its gears and then try to reprogram it, or just junk up the works and hope the whole thing crashes. If you ask me, the only killer robot I'm up for fixing at the moment is looking like summer glau, in fact, I'm needing a fix right now.

Oh, Feb 13th is just 3 weeks away. hmm.

Sorry, overdose of summer pics and my brain is no longer working. Yeah, the govt. is irreparable, so I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the fireworks

Hey DT,

Y'know, I can respect that to a degree. I've been thinking for a long while that the salient difference between Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats think that good things can come out of government and Republicans think that nothing good can come out of government. This is why, I'm thinking, I have so much more respect for Dems on a whole than Repubs because Democratic politicians are ethically integrated, they think government is a good thing and they want to be a part of it, whereas, Republican politicians present themselves as great enemies of government and none the less line up to join in. Sure Democrats are often terribly corrupt, but at least they're trying, y'know? Whereas, Republicans are corrupt and they're not remotely conflicted about it, which to me is a much surer recipe for brutality and oppression.

O' course, some may say that the Dems are delusional and the Repubs are realists but if that is so than the Republicans are nihilists at heart and "reality" is a brutal, brutal engine.

But, yeah, as George Washington so eloquently put it, "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence--it is force." Republicans seem to see no need to limit or restrain that force, as long as it doesn't interfer with Republican interests. Republicans seem to be out-and-out fans of force when it is meted out to their many enemies. I like that Dems, philosophically at least, are uneasy with force, Governmental and otherwise, even when it promotes their interests.
