Yep, time to burn a sick day head on downtown. Protest our new goverment. If you listen to Beck and Rush we would had to play nice with the British red coats. I would like to hear your experience in your hometown.

These are guaranteed to be real freak shows. They don't even know what they're protesting about. What are they protesting about? Paying taxes? Too damn bad! Government spending our tax dollars not in the way they want? Too damn bad! That's what you get when traditionalists become nonchalant about the social and political issues of our times, you get an Obama elected. Now, the 58 million people who did not vote for Obama are going to protest? What a laugh!

I forgot about the corn dogs! That changes everything. Throw in some chocolate-covered fried dough & pass me a protest sign!

Yeah, because paying taxes that are used for some things you might not want, that's a brand-new thing.

I am attending the Indianapolis Tea Party from 4:30-6:30 today. It will be a great day to unfurl my Gadsden Banner. "Don't Tread on Me"

And we will have the Thomas Paine reinactor as our keynote speaker.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I recall the original protest was 'Taxation without Representation.'

Of course, we now have Taxation WITH Representation. If they don't like the uses the money is put to, then it is their responsibility to vote out the responsible parties. And then vote out the new parties who misuse the money. And so on, until someone wants to keep their job badly enough to listen to their constituents.

No, I don't like the bailout. I ALSO don't like the fact that we're spending more than half our budget on the military, which we have scattered across half the friggin' world! If you're going to protest something, how about adding THAT trillion-dollar boondoggle to your list?

Yeah, because nobody ever thinks to protest the military.

Just got back. Started at officially 9am to 1pm but I got there at 7am a good crowd. Nice and cool left about 11am it'll probalbly be dispursed by 2pm. Let's see we had alot of constitutional party members, nam vets, goldwater republicans, flat taxers, and some cowboys. More of an older crowd here in Tucson AZ. Radio hosts with local politicians. All an all alot of fun. American 1st amendment being applied. The mexican selling hot dogs made out like a bandit. Of course the kettle korn thugs think there at a superbowl with those prices. I was hoping the Shriners would show up on their little mini bikes beepin their horns but that didn't happen. Not bad for alittle grass roots deal. Grandma with the tea bag hanging off her eyeglasses took the cake. This town here has alot of street junkies compared to the rest of the cities I've lived in.

The U.S. has the 2nd highest Corp. Tax rate in the world.

There's simply far too much spending by this administration, and it MUST stop. Obama asks us to cut our personal spending, asks companies to cut back , but says it's the job of the Gov't to increase spending. I fail to see that clause in the Constitution, anywhere.

First of all I don't buy into that Red / Blue crap. It's completely arbitrary and if anyhting , completely BACKWARDS because some LIBERAL news folks didn't want to paint Libs as "red" due to the clear association w/ Communist, which they so closely align, politically.

States with higher POPULATION put more in because they have more people.

I would love more than anything to let us run our states the way they OUGHT to be run, and escape the control of massive Alliance....err.... Federal Gov't entitlement control.

Sorry, it doesn't always work that way. Especially if there are large public works projects, like the TVA, that stretch Fed $$'s over several states.

"Sorry, it doesn't always work that way. Especially if there are large public works projects, like the TVA, that stretch Fed $$'s over several states."

So what you're saying is - large public works projects send more money to some states than they pay to the government.

Saying that that is WHY those states get more than they pay is a logical error.

That red states get more Federal $$ than they put into the system, and that everyone else would be better off without them????
Quote:

The Tax Foundation has released a fascinating report showing which states benefit from federal tax and spending policies, and which states foot the bill.

The report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States. Here are the Top 10 states that feed at the federal trough:

States Receiving Most in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid:

1. D.C. ($6.17)
2. North Dakota ($2.03)
3. New Mexico ($1.89)
4. Mississippi ($1.84)
5. Alaska ($1.82)
6. West Virginia ($1.74)
7. Montana ($1.64)
8. Alabama ($1.61)
9. South Dakota ($1.59)
10. Arkansas ($1.53)

In contrast, of the 16 states that are "losers" -- receiving less in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 69% are Blue States that voted for Al Gore in 2000. Indeed, 11 of the 14 (79%) of the states receiving the least federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Blue States. Here are the Top 10 states that supply feed for the federal trough:

States Receiving Least in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid:

1. New Jersey ($0.62)
2. Connecticut ($0.64)
3. New Hampshire ($0.68)
4. Nevada ($0.73)
5. Illinois ($0.77)
6. Minnesota ($0.77)
7. Colorado ($0.79)
8. Massachusetts ($0.79)
9. California ($0.81)
10. New York ($0.81)

Two states -- Florida and Oregon (coincidentally, the two closest states in the 2000 Presidential election) -- received $1.00 in federal spending for each $1.00 in federal taxes paid.
