Why shouldn't Biden disclose that? HKCavalier Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

It sounds like in the middle of an attack its all going to be ok because somewhere out there the folks in charge are running the show. Somehow saying the VP is "in the basement" does not have have the same ring to it. H "Hero. I have come to respect you"- Chrisisall, 2009.

The poor guys wife and 1-year old daughter were killed horribly. That would unhinge anyone. Joe's got a proven track record of mis-stepping politcally by saying two kinds of things: 1. Slightly offbeat stuff/bad jokes. 2. What he's actually thinking at the moment. He reminds me of Admrial Stockdale, the man who ran as VP for Ross Perot in 1992. That guy did the same things and for similar reasons, he was locked up with McCain and others in the Hanoi Hilton and tortured for 6 years. I don't blame Biden for his behavior. Per a line from his Wiki article, after his wife and girl were killed he said I'd walk around seedy neighborhoods at night when I thought there was a better chance of finding a fight. I had not known I was capable of such rage. I felt God had played a horrible trick on me. Like I said, I don't blame him. What does worry me however is why the Democratic Party wanted to nominate him. Everyone knows that a VP is picked to bring to a ticket the qualities the main candidate lacks. Example: Palin was picked because she was a woman in a time after Hillary lost by a hair. Joe was picked because he's a Good-time-charlie. There were plenty of other Dems that could have brought a feisty experienced atmosphere to counter-balance Barack's lack of experience. But why Joe? I really just don't get it. I'll admit that it can be refreshing to get a leader who actually says what he thinks, and we've certainly had a few over the years, (Teddy Rosevelt, Truman) but those guys also had a little wisdom mixed with their fire to know when to walk slower (TR: walk softly and carry a big stick) Joe scares me in that if he ever assumed the role of President he might say crazy stuff on a more focused world stage. Ah well. What will be, will be.

It had been, I think, a resort at one time, is that right? I can't remember that part for sure, it's been along time since I read about it. Seems like part of what I read was that it also served as a 'resting place' so to speak, for congressional and goverment types who had come near to cracking over the stress of the Cold War days, but I may be confusing that with something else. You know, that's prettymuch the ONLY way a politician learns empathy or compassion whatsoever, yes ? Those among us who have fallen the lowest, the deepest, and somehow survived and climbed back out of the death spiral, despite their quirks are some of the most human, compassionate people out there, because they KNOW, in a way that cannot be ignored or forgotten, what the darkness holds, and when they see others sliding to the void they're the first to throw the rope. And when they see someone else pushin folk over the edge for power or gain, they've no respect for em - believe me, I wholeheartedly believe that if Cheney ever stuck his neck out far enough (which he won't, cause he's a fearful, cowardly, paranoid little git) that Biden would make his ass *dissappear*, and quicklike - remember this is a guy who has "friends in low places" which most politicians do not, and intel contacts with the same sorta folk. So don't take the man for an idiot, were he that, he'd be dead - this is a guy whos been to the bottom of the rabbit hole and back again, that *changes* a person, if they come back at all. He might be kooky, inarticulate and seem on first glance a little dim, but if you look at his life, history and political record (note the fact that for a congressman he's dirt freakin poor) this is a guy who puts HIS ethics first, and while they are different than ours, and on many matters I am certain many of his constituents disagree with em, at least he HAS ethics.

Yeah, if only Cheney would have had an aide around to explain what he "really meant" by shooting his friend in the face. Hell, if only SOMEONE had been around to talk to the press or police about it, 'cause Cheney sure wasn't making himself available... Mike Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day... And, the dude he shot wasn't supposed to be up on his left, according to the shooting pattern they had worked out to bird hunt, and that's according to the guy who got shot. He said he was at fault, even though Cheney kept blaming himself, even to the press. I say that as a hunter, mind you, and not as a republican. Bad_karma Great and Exalted Grand Pooba, International Brotherhood of Moonshiners, Rednecks, and Good Old Boys. I think you missed the point I was trying to make; perhaps I was too subtle. But in missing the point, you once again helped prove it: The point is, we ALL have our partisan blinders on, in one form or another - even those of us who claim no partisanship. Some here are willing to overlook a "mis-speak" or a gaffe, while others want to point it out as if it were the worst thing in the world - and then those same people might tend to overlook a man shooting another man in the face as a simple "accident" - while the other camp will go on about how evil one must be to ever shoot another person in the face... Thing is, too many on both sides are willing to completely overlook their sides' "gaffes", no matter how egregious, and are all too willing to stoke the flames over the other side's perceived failings. I say it in the full knowledge that I'm exactly as guilty of it as anyone else. More than some, less than others... Mike Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day... Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
