Sure took em long enough, although given the material in question I cannot say this surprises me a lot.

And poor little Leon, not liking the idea of that long, hard fall onto a sword has apparently resorted to blamestorming and fingerpointing, hoping to spread the shit around so that as little as possible sticks to HIM, all the while plea-bargaining by copping to the most minor of the misdeeds in a desperate attempt to shield himself and the monstrous agency behind him from the long overdue and richly deserved payback for their actions.

Gee, you don't think he's maybe a little upset at being left holding the bag on this one, do ya ?

You want the power, you pays the price - and the bill has just come due, Leon - and since you don't seem to be a man of your word, I guess you're in for a rocky road, since the info in question has gone farther and wider than even your worst possible imaginings.

And it's real obvious they didn't come clean with Congress, not completely, cause no way in hell could they possibly cover it up at that point, and so we shall just wait until some newsie finds a set big enough.

Blackwater wasn't the only contractor involved, folks, and Al Qeada was the LEAST controversial of targets on the hit list, which if it ever becomes public is gonna be a real brick shitter for the agency.

There's three american politicians on it.

Interesting. Of course, it's so much worse than this, the CIA has been hiring Al Qaeda, that story was leaked last year. And I'm not talking about in 1989. Possible conflict of interests? Someone hires a rat to catch a rat but that second rat is also working for someone in the cia, so said employer puts the ax to the head of first employer. Just stabbing in the dark here, except for the CIA hires al qaeda leak. Of course al qaeda isn't the right term.

Curious story going on in iraq right now, where we're claiming it's al qaeda, i'm not so sure, it may just be the iraqi govt. invading kurdistan with no covert ops.

Yeah, it DOES make you wonder, huh? If this is the stuff they're admitting to, you know this is the MILDEST variety of this shit they're pulling. And they're admitting to this part of it hoping that most Americans will shrug it off. "Oh, well, it's Al Qaeda, and it's for our own good, so right on..."

Then Paul Wellstone crashes, and John Hightower crashes...

Curious.

Man, I'm confused. Is this like the assassination speech from Angel?

"This is getting ridiculous. The first assassin kills the second assassin sent to kill the first assassin, who didn't assassinate anyone until we hired the second assassin to assassinate her."

Just so. Most foes or opponents, you can count some things out; you can say, with at least a degree of certitude, "Nah, they wouldn't do anything like that." With the CIA, you absolutely can not say that. As far as I've seen, there is NOTHING they rule out of bounds. Will they kill a hundred Libyans to save one American? Absolutely. Will they kill a hundred Americans to save on Libyan? Sure, if they value his information enough. There's never been a case where you could say of the CIA, "Okay, fair is fair, and that sounds reasonable." THAT is why we remain - and SHOULD remain - so leery of those monsters.

Yes, I heard about that one. Didn't surprise me. But you'd get a kick out of the fact that there are people in other places who SWEAR the CIA would never lie to us, are good guys, and it's the "evil libruls" who create such fuss. Honest to gawd.

I don't think Panetta was caught up in the Bush power thing as much as some would like to blame him; I think back then everyone IN government knew that bucking anything was deleterious to one's career, at the very least. Personally I thought a lot of Congress and the Senate were silenced and went along with things for just that reason. It WAS a tyrannical government, for a while, and everyone knows you don't buck a tyrant when he's got the power behind him that Dumbya did.

I can't know about Panetta for sure, obviously, but I think it's quite possible MANY people either left or kept their mouths shut to preserve their positions, despite seeing things going on they wouldn't normally condone. JMHO

Frem,

I'll take a look. If you looked into the afghan militias Hersh mentions, that's a tangled web... the term al qaeda is bogus, but boy is there a mess and boy are we knee deep in it. We appear to be hiring people to fight other people we hire and even hiring people to fight our guys, and generally just to sew chaos.

Anyone notice Obama handing power to hire third party foreign militias to the State Dept, aka Hillary? I can't find the cite now.

Ahem....

I'm definitely the furthest thing from a "evil librul" here (which, contrary to popular belief is not any of the neocon regimes we've seen in our lives) and I'm not surprised at all about this.

I'm a guy who fears the power that two-bit cops running the streets have....

An organization with a limitless supply of resources, the ability to work in the shadows like vampires while walking amongst us in the daylight, and no matter what they do they don't have to answer to anyone.... even our elected officials?

Fuggaddaboutit

P.S.... that smokin icon cost me 25 cents and I'll just say that I'm happy to do my part and pay for other people's kids health care so idiot parents can have a better chance of paying off their unpayable ARMs and keep financing those plasma TV sales and send their spawn to college one day and I can pay for that too when their parents' financial mismanagement (negligence?) keeps them from being able to pay on their own accord.

I look forward to the next tax increase coming soon so that I can pay 50 cents the next time I use it.

Thanks libruls!

Hell yes - you mean the ones hitting Pakistan ?

Fuck, man, that's prettymuch an act of war any way you slice it, especially with the high level of civvie casualties you wind up with when the dork operating is running on a point and click interface that removes so much of the horror it might as well be a videogame.

Obama's time is up, far as I happen to be concerned, Geeze - he's just more of the same with a smoother front, and I've no mercy for any of em, although we damn well BETTER finish the job on the last administrations criminals before jumping to this one, and why ?

Cause as is no doubt obvious, jumping from one unfinished war into a new one is a goddamn stupid thing to do, dividing your resources and screwing the hell out of your objectives profile.

For me, again, barfight rules, the one on the floor in front of me gets the boot BEFORE I go lookin for the next target - and their day is comin, never you doubt it - but if we don't finish the job we're apt to get knifed in the back on the way by the bastards we didn't have the sense to finish off.

And the alphabet goons are a force unto themselves, a lawless cult of evil that in truth answers to no one, and bringing them to heel or destroying them ought to be a top priority cause that'll remove a lot of power from the hands of both cabals, AND remove the primary threat of terrorism against the american people as a bonus.

I said I'd give Obama 18 mos, 'cause that's what I gave Bush, but I'm disappointed so far. Of course I'm worried about the war, I think that at the point Obama inherited it, Iraq was potentially okay if we created a coalition (Iran, Turkey, Syria?) to help secure it. It seems we have a new war in Kurdistan instead.

Afgan. was a mess, we'd lost, and we're going to lose no matter what and so we're just making matters worse.

Pakistan wins the WTF? award. We appear to have staged a coup in order to get a tacit okay to go in to bomb semi-autonomous tribal regions which have nothing to do with US interests anywhere, and if I get any Moron Error, I mean War on Terror responses to that I'll just ignore them.

The economy is on the brink of mega tank. Barack is somewhat responsible because he's been spending like mad, when he needed to reel in the FED and change the regs, and gorram it, repeal the f%^&*ing mark to market rules etc. But seriously, the debt is about to pass the GDP. That's a good impetus for total collapse.

If at the 18 month mark Obama is sitting here with debt>GDP, dow <7k maybe c. 4-5k, interest on the debt exceeding tax receipts and bracket creep, total mid-high end incomes not much better than untaxed poverty, and a slide into socialism, then I guess that will be that. For now just watching and wishing that he would pull a 180.

Frem,

I don't sink potentially friendly ships, but I do put my crew on guard at the first sign of trouble. There's a difference between the two.

Chris,

I'm not sure what you're smoking ;) Okay, I am. Still... No way is Obama dumber than Clinton. The problem is that we have Clintons still in power.

If Obama had total control I suspect the wars would end immediately, but he'd probably still launch into some misguided socialism. Clinton wouldn't do this because he's too much of a crook.

The problem with the Obama social plan would not be "not enough thinking" but "too much thinking" some things don't work on a practical scale. Sure, you can do the FDR and drag everyone into a communal effort to rebuild society, but that really screws the pooch if people had more important things to do...

It would be nice if this disapproval could be registered in some way. Here's where a peace protest might help. Actually, it would be nice if it had about a million black men in it, that would remove all accusations of racism or partisanship, and also upstage Farrahkhan, which is always a plus, unless he led it (Oh no! I've created a monster!)

Still, a major DC protest could look all Dem/Lib-y and diverse/demographicky.
