DREAMTROVE

The man had his whole family killed by nazis, moved to the US, and start a new family only to have his whole family killed by neonazis. Cut the guy a break. I think it's Ironic that this comes at the same time that the Manson family is being released from prison.

He settled with his victim out of court, if she says to cut him slack in court they most likly will.

FREMDFIRMA

While I think Polanski is a total creep and something of a predatory freak, myself...

Whozit of all people, brings the salient point.

He made satisfactory amends to the VICTIM, and said victim considers the matter settled, this is just the State throwing a tantrum cause he didn't play it the way they wanted - which often as not, ain't got a damn thing to do with justice anyways.

Doesn't mean Polanski isn't a creep I wouldn't trust anywhere near kids - it just means that once you have come to a mutually agreed settlement with the victim, the State should butt out of it.

Also, and this really, really grinds my gears to mention in the same thread as this jerk - our american justice system is currently run by templar lunatics who can't ever let go.

I mean, these days, so much as swiping a pack of chewing gum, or forgetting to take cough drops out of your bag before going to school can wind up haunting you FOREVER, crushing careers, indirectly ruining credit, and making sure you never get a fair shake ever in life again, and can happen even without your knowledge whatever!

"Four months later, Mrs. Harpold and her husband were awakened at daybreak by the always unwelcome sound of police banging on their front door. She was arrested and taken away in handcuffs for the purported crime of purchasing more than 3.0 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine (PSE) within a seven-day period."

GODDAMN am I now glad I bought the medicines with cash while I was sick, hell, even *I* didn't know this, and coulda walked right into it - bang, instant felony, goodbye business, goodbye lease, hello hell - FOREVER!

Shit man, it's almost more MERCIFUL to kill someone as that, isn't it ?

So yeah, given the choice between practically stamping the dark mark on peoples foreheads for ALL FEKKIN ETERNITY, and letting a creep like Polanski walk ?

Let him walk, I say.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it
