Saw movie. Turns out they are still gay. They don't need special gay rights since they have mostly the same rights straight people have. I give the fella (Milk, not Penn) all sorts of credit for being gay when that wasn't popular in California. But it was never a rights issue, just attitude and cultural bias.

Nobody ever asked for a special law for Irish rights or Italian rights. Race and gender bias needed legislative and judicial correction and because they were not seeking additional right not available to other classes.

For example, they are as free to get married as anybody else, and they are just as barred from same sex marriages as anybody else. They do not deserve laws that give them more rights then other citizens have.

We all have mostly the same rights depending on where we live and the circumstances.

Women can use the ladies room (with its fancy couch) but if men use it we'll get arrested (or hit with a purse). Men can walk around topless on the beach, woman can't (in most places despite what I believe is a Constitutional Right we all need to get behind). Men play football professionally. Women can win the Miss America pagent. People live in different states, with minor variations to their respective state constitutions.

Nazis and Gay folks can have a parade (with a permit). Al Queda operatives can't (with or without a permit).

Kids can't go outside after curfew. You can yell fire in many place, but not in theaters.

You don't need laws to protect those rights. The Consitution already protected those rights. All they really needed was the removal (as unconstitutional) laws restricting those rights.

Sodomy is a good example. The Constitution contains a right to privacy that would protect consensual gay sex between adults. So you don't need a law protecting gay sex, you need to get rid of the law, through Constitutional challenge, that criminalizes the conduct.

Paciello had heard that Shemtov's husband, Sami, a wealthy businessman, kept hundreds of thousands of dollars in a safe hidden somewhere in the house.

Judith Shemtov was sipping tea when she answered a knock at her door and three men with guns shoved their way in and ordered her to "open the safe." Sami heard gunfire and rushed in to find his wife shot in the face with a .45 automatic. The shooter was thirty-year-old Tommy Reynolds, a Bath Avenue soldier so reckless that he had nearly killed a Gambino crime family associate outside a Brooklyn bar two years earlier.

Chris Paciello needed a good reason to leave New York while police snooped around the unsolved Shemtov murder. In August 1994, Paciello moved to Miami and bought Mickey's, a restaurant previously owned by actor Mickey Rourke, and managed by John Gotti's former driver Carlo Vaccarezza. Paciello invited Caruso to join him as a promoter and club director.

In November 1994, Caruso and Paciello reopened Mickey's as Club Risk. Attendance was lackluster. Paciello lost faith in Caruso's promoting prowess, and Caruso grew increasingly frustrated at being frozen out of management decisions as Paciello took closed-door meetings with Gambino family associates Johnny Rizzo and John D'Amico.

Caruso's girlfriend, who stayed behind in New York, had just given birth to their son and wanted Caruso to come back home. But it wasn't until he found a murder fugitive in his Miami apartment that he decided to cut his losses. Paciello had given Gambino mobster Vinnie Rizzuto Jr. the okay to hide in Caruso's apartment while the FBI and the Columbo family were looking for him for the murder of a capo's son.

By February 1995, Caruso had fled back to New York and vowed to his girlfriend that he would uphold his New Year's Eve resolution not to drink, deal drugs, or be lured back into a life of crime. Caruso was fearful that Paciello would kill him just for what he'd seen and heard.

Fugitive Rizzuto, who was later caught using Caruso's name and identification, would eventually plead guilty to murder and was sentenced to twenty-five years. Club Risk mysteriously burned down weeks after Caruso's exit, and Paciello used the insurance money to open a new club that boasted such celebrity guests as Jennifer Lopez, Donald Trump, Niki Taylor, and Gianni Versace. The handsome nightlife impresario became a celebrity in his own right, dating supermodels and attending charity balls. But years later, the feds finally caught up with Paciello. In 2000, the twenty-nine-year-old club owner pleaded guilty to his role in the bank heist and Shemtov's murder as part of a cooperation deal and was sentenced to seven years. Tommy Reynolds, who shot Shemtov, got life in prison.

Sometimes I am reminded of the 2002 movie Hero starring Jet Li. A visually stunning picture, it amounted to my mind to little more than a Propaganda Piece that apologized for cruel governance.

The titular Hero of the piece was a man whose home village had been brutalized during the Emperor's conquests to unify China.

Several civic-minded assassins rose up from the populace, hoping to slay the Emperor. So, the Emperpr put a price on their heads. The cherry on top was that whoever rid him of these troublesome assassins would be granted a personal audience.

So the titular Hero went on a crusade to find and remove these assassins. This, so that he could get access to the Emperor and rid the world of his tyranny.

When he was finally granted his audience, and heard the Emperor speak of his plans to improve China and make a more perfect society, the Hero realized the error of his ways. He confessed to the Emperor that he had come to kill him, and informed the Emperor that he had no choice but to slay him as an example to others.

The film ends with the Emperor's archers lining up and executing the Hero.

Moral of the Story: A true Hero endures tyranny within government for the prospect of a better society.

Actually, no, he uploaded the virus then launched a nuke into it and somehow made it back out of the ship in "20 seconds" just before the nuke exploded.
