Can't watch the video on my Mac, but the website brings back some memories. Used to work with Kyle's dad Jim Franklin, doing crop dusting work in West Texas for Burt Bruton's Aerial Spraying. Jim flew a little Piper Pawnee. It was a treat to watch him fly, and he hangared his beautiful Waco of his out at Mathis Field in San Angelo, where my dad worked at the Cessna dealer.

Looks like Kyle is carrying on the tradition, and flying another Waco of his own. Jim was killed a few years ago in a crash during an airshow in Canada, when his Waco collided with another plane flown by Sonny Younkin, who also died.

I didn't know a plane could do that.

Tho I did bounce one pretty high once. Instructor said "don't cuss, DO something!"

I like my "instructor"s take on it.

"Any idiot can fly a plane, only when you have landed the SAME plane twice, are you a pilot..."

Erm, I didn't exactly tell him how much of that ultralite I repaired after the first.. uh.. "landing", such as it was - but I did walk away, although slowly and in the wrong direction.

Got better though, boy did I ever.

That's funny stuff, PN. My dad had a '49 Piper Clipper, which was really just a widened Cub with side-by-side seating. That's where I learned what little I know of flying - he'd take me up and turn the plane over to me when I was 12 & 13. My flying probably looked a bit like that, but higher up off the ground (altitude is your friend!), and not intentional. :)
