Byte mentioned this, and it's a good point. This woman, so beloved by the right, just suggested we go to war with Iran--pretty amazing. Yemen too, I'm sure.

It's not new for her, however; she's used it to score points since before the election. Then:

Now:
Quote:

Palin indicated that his chances of winning would dramatically change if Obama simply declared war on Iran:
Quote:

WALLACE: How hard do you think President Obama would be to defeat in 2012?

PALIN: It depends on a few things, say he played — I got this from Buchanan — say he played the war card. Say he decided to declare war on Iran or decide to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel–which I would like him to do. That changes the dynamics of what we can assume will happen between now and three years. Because I think if the election were today, Obama would not be elected.

WALLACE: You’re not suggesting that Obama would cynically play the war card?

PALIN: I’m not suggesting that, I’m saying if he did, things would dramatically change if he decided to toughen up and do all that he can to secure our nation and secure our allies. I think people would shift their thinking a bit.

Palin appears to be fine-tuning her position on Iran. Late last year, Palin mistook Iraq for Iran when she suggested that the U.S. has to crack down on Iraq to prevent nuclear war in Iran. In 2008, Palin appeared to claim that the U.S. needs to “win” the non-existent war with Iran.

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/02/07/palin-war-ira/

One of the responders to that article said it better than I could: "Sarah Palin is a deranged money grubber and a witless ninny. The fact that so many “religious” people support her speaks to the utter bankruptcy and moral rot of their ideologies."

Uhhh, doesn't one have to have a brain for waterboarding to do any good? And given she's got nothing to say as it is, what could she possibly have to say that waterboarding would accomplish? Just askin...

Back on topic, and lets not waterboard anyone, thanks...

Yikes. Okay, so I know drumming up support for a War with Iran is something both parties are after, what with Obama and that "intelligence" we have about Iranian weapons that sounds like the same bait they used for Iraq.

I'm still trying to understand, she's not saying that these are the reasons we should go to war, but rather that she thinks Obama going to war would improve his chances?

I don't think we know her reasons for supporting a war with Iran, or rather, we do, but she hasn't said either the ones that would be used to push a war with Iran to the public or the real reasons the government might declare war.

The point was made. You seem obsessed w/ the view that somehow what I said was disproven, when clearly, it was not.

As to the specifics of THIS thread, look at exactly what Palin said....

"... how are we going to kick in the plan that will get this economy back on the right track and really shore up the strategies we need over in Iraq and Iran to win these wars "

Now the subject line reads -

Palin: Let's go to war with Iran!
That's no where near what she said.

Then the TPM ( who ever the hell that is ) graphic states -
Palin declares war on Iran
Um....no, she didn't.

This video is almost 1 1/2 yrs old. On the eve of the 2008 elections, Palin is talking about the wars we were and still are fighting over there. Then she mentions the STRATEGY with dealing with Iraq and Iran. The Iranian Gov't was and is heavily influencing the insurgency in Iraq.

Nothing she said should be viewed in any way as being controversial. What I suspect is being done here is an attempt to take old , dated quotes from Palin and sidle them up w/ more recent remarks she's made. It should be no surprise as to who is behind all this, and for what purpose.

The Left is scared of Palin. Not just her , but her message. And it shows.
Very telling, is how the video quickly cuts out at the end, so as to keep her comments being heard , in context, as they were spoken.

AU's right here, and I guess it shouldn't be surprising. I know better than to lift my head up whenever I hear about some politician saying something that sounds abysmally dumb, because it's usually the result of someone spin-doctoring. These people know better than to say something directly incriminating.

Still, unless Sarah Palin has changed her mind, it does seem to suggest she would support a war with Iran, and giving more support to Israel, which are things I disagree with. Israel has a right to exist, but the way we're going about helping them is making the entire region think they're being threatened, and we need to work on peace talks more between Israel and Palestine than we do need to help Israel make the whole thing more tense. And a war with Iran is a bad idea with our current economy, plus I really don't buy our intelligence about Iran and their nuclear program.

Figures that you would think it unfair to hold her accountable for past quotes. But seeing how that's bitten you in the ass some many time (and oh so recently) it's hardly surprising.

No.

The strategies we need over in Iraq and Iran.

The WARS , and there are 2, included Iraq and Afghanistan. It's such common knowledge, that Palin didn't feel the need to explain. In hindsight, and out of context, it is a bit confusing, but everyone knew what she meant at the time.

Think. We never saw this quote until when ? Just after she made the remark about Obama and going to war w/ Iran. Why is that ? Sure, she made it well over a year ago, but it was and remains a throw away quote. ( Nothing's " bitten me in the ass, btw , but keep trying to divert attention away from the topic. I would, if I were in your shoes )

We damn near did get into armed conflict w/ Iran, if you recall, but thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

However, revisionist history and a twisted political agenda is what is fueling this nonsensical non-topic.

She said what she meant. STRATEGIES with Iraq and Iran. The 2 were synonymous, as the Iranian Gov't was funding the insurgencies in Iraq.

Things aren't going very well for the Republicans lately - the tea-baggers and Obama's showing up at their luncheon and smacking them down aren't exactly the image they want. So they've decided they'll try to set Obama's agenda for him, and they've decided unilaterally that he's going to war with Iran.

They don't seem to realize that the U.S. has neither the materiel, the manpower, or the money to go to war with ANYBODY we're not already at war with. But paying for things and living in the real world have never been neo-con strong suits.
