Quote:Palin indicated that his chances of winning would dramatically change if Obama simply declared war on Iran:Quote:WALLACE: How hard do you think President Obama would be to defeat in 2012? PALIN: It depends on a few things, say he played — I got this from Buchanan — say he played the war card. Say he decided to declare war on Iran or decide to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel–which I would like him to do. That changes the dynamics of what we can assume will happen between now and three years. Because I think if the election were today, Obama would not be elected. WALLACE: You’re not suggesting that Obama would cynically play the war card? PALIN: I’m not suggesting that, I’m saying if he did, things would dramatically change if he decided to toughen up and do all that he can to secure our nation and secure our allies. I think people would shift their thinking a bit.Palin appears to be fine-tuning her position on Iran. Late last year, Palin mistook Iraq for Iran when she suggested that the U.S. has to crack down on Iraq to prevent nuclear war in Iran. In 2008, Palin appeared to claim that the U.S. needs to “win” the non-existent war with Iran.

Figures that you would think it unfair to hold her accountable for past quotes. But seeing how that's bitten you in the ass some many time (and oh so recently) it's hardly surprising. "

But until she goes back to restate, I'm going to think that what she said was what she meant. I know better than to lift my head up whenever I hear about some politician saying something that sounds abysmally dumb, because it's usually the result of someone spin-doctoring. These people know better than to say something directly incriminating. Still, unless Sarah Palin has changed her mind, it does seem to suggest she would support a war with Iran, and giving more support to Israel, which are things I disagree with. Israel has a right to exist, but the way we're going about helping them is making the entire region think they're being threatened, and we need to work on peace talks more between Israel and Palestine than we do need to help Israel make the whole thing more tense. And a war with Iran is a bad idea with our current economy, plus I really don't buy our intelligence about Iran and their nuclear program.

Okay, so I know drumming up support for a War with Iran is something both parties are after, what with Obama and that "intelligence" we have about Iranian weapons that sounds like the same bait they used for Iraq. I'm still trying to understand, she's not saying that these are the reasons we should go to war, but rather that she thinks Obama going to war would improve his chances? I don't think we know her reasons for supporting a war with Iran, or rather, we do, but she hasn't said either the ones that would be used to push a war with Iran to the public or the real reasons the government might declare war.
