i think this is what egg-headed types call the "sublime." or used to, because technology inspires more awe than mother nature--now its the natural sublime. in the face of atom bombs, it's kind of hard to get excited about geysers. nice for nature to remind us, once in a while, that it is really, really big--even if it has to kill us and ruin our travel plans.
