Ok, here's a nice topic coming out of a stupid conversation around me...

So, if the Prez decided to drop by your place for dinner on the way out of here, what would you serve up ?

My selection - Cheeseburger and fries with an MBC Sunset Amber Lager, and for afters, a slice of apple pie with vanilla-caramel ice cream as a topper.

Good, solid grub, and you don't get much more american than that, I think he might appreciate a break from fancified cuisine, yanno ?

So what would YOU offer ?

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

Whatever we got around. Have some homemade chili in the freezer and could whip up some cornbread, chop some onion, and grate some cheese while it thaws in the 'wave. Salad on the side and some Heineken, Abita Amber, or Heavy Seas Marzen from the fridge.

Sauteed shrimp in butter and caper sauce over pasta and some white wine or champagne. (You can get a tasty sparkling wine for no more than regular still white wine. We enjoy it with meals.)

Given a bit of lead time I'd get out the ice chest and Sous Vide a batch of pork chops with salt, pepper, and herbs for his entourage. Just tried this last week, and it'd be better for feeding a bunch of folks than just us two.

WHOZIT

I'd heat up a can of Cornned Beet Hash and serve it with a can of "TAB". For dessert he'd get a "Milkyway" bar.

MINCINGBEAST

We'd have an aragula salad, organic and fair trade of course, and then soup and bread. Everything I would serve would be flavored with my dna
.

CANTTAKESKY

I'd offer what I cook best: Lasagna with locally farmed free range ground beef and MSG-free Italian sausage, with thick, thick layers of rBGH-free cheeses, and organic tomato sauce.

TRAVELER

I like Mexican. Since I don't cook, my refigerator is unpluged and my stove has not been used in over a decade, I would take him to one of our local Mexican restaurants. The problem is deciding which one. There are so many excellent ones to choose from in this city. So I hope he likes Mexican, because my car naturally heads toward them.
