1. The progs here can't spin this article (Fauxnoise ect) Its from CNN, a mostly liberal news source.

2. If the Repubs win, they better not be the batshit insane group they have been. I would prefer mostly Independants, and Libertarians... but almost anything would be better than what is there now. (Yes, Obamacare crushed the Dems)

This is news? To whom exactly?

I love it when "it's gotta be valid because CNN said it, and they're left-wing MSM", but another article would be trashed for the same reason as being pure propaganda. Nice RWA, file-cabinet reactions.

Wulf, this is an editorial. See that tag line at the top that says "commentary?" Notice that the section of CNN online it appears in is the "OPINION" section in your URL?

I don't disagree with your statement. I don't think even left wing people would disagree with your statement. But an opinion article is not a credible news source. I hope you realize that.

I know full well its an op-ed piece. But to see something on CNN like that? IMHO CNN is just liberal lite.

And being Cneter Right is not a bad thing, as much as some here might think so. COnservative, republic, with some leanings towards liberalism is well and good.

Its when you go too far one way or the other that things get awful. Right now, we are waaaaay to far left. Before we were waaaay to far right.

Honestly, we need a new path. Libertarian, republic, would be nice.

Not exactly news worthy. I'd also say that under Bush, you had tipped a lot further right than centre.

Left right is relative, but I'm going to agree with Niki. So yes, that means america is somewhere around me, how nice. Thing is that I don't spend the way america does, and I don't imagine the folks on the left do either... I don't invade my neighbors either, or the people halfway across town.

And it's taking SOOOOO long to swing back. Like it ever will. Fear & hate will be forever played to prevent it IMO. Even with the Obamanator leading us (the far-left socialista that he's painted as, by the neo-center tea-bagging re-labled NeoCons).

I disagree. Obama is pretty left wing. It's just that folks on the left have decided that authoritarianism and corporatism is right wing because they don't like it, and so when a lot of stuff that they don't like comes with a democrat, they think it's right wing.

There's nothing particularly left wing about a peace platform or civil liberties. At the moment Michael Steele seems more on board with both ideas than does Howard Dean. As far as big spending social programs public works and stuff that's just generally left wing, Obama is fairly down with all of that.

So Obama's a hard-left socialist (according to just about every con and neocon here), and a huge majority of voters voted hard left in '08.

Sounds to me like maybe we're more a center-LEFT country than righties are comfortable with. :)

Gallup Poll has conducted the same poll for the last 20+ years. It has consistenly shown:

40% call themselves Conservative
40% call themselves Independent
20% call themselves Liberal

The most recent one showed the Conservative number rising a bit to 42%. Obama knew this, that's why he campaigned as a Moderate. But now, Obama and his team feel invincible; after all they defeated Hillary, they defeated McCain, and won the White House. That's pretty impressive, so they're confident they can't be hurt by rolling out more and more radical policies in full view for all of America to see. Independents decide everything, and apparently now more than half of Independents say they will vote Republican this November. Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.

Still surprised you find it so unusual that CNN should do something like that. I know it probably comes from watching too much FauxNews, where it would be a cold day in hell before they'd EVER say anything about the right, but it's no surprise to anyone else that CNN, and even MSNBC, have no problem critizing the left.

Show me one single example of FauxNews ever saying anything negative about their right-wing cronies. I dare you.

for your naiveté

I disagree. Obama is pretty center. It's just that folks on the right have decided that moderation and universal health care is left wing because they don't like it, and so when a lot of stuff that they don't like comes with a democrat, they think it's left wing.

See, such a discussion is kinda meaningless when rightwing folk keep shoving the goalposts further and further to the right and calling that the middle.

Especially when no one is willing to call bullshit on it, so... officially.
"Bullshit!"

You too DT, you know you're doin it, and on purpose, you wanted to see how long it'd take before someone called it, so stop the clock now, ok ?
A bit slick on how you slid it in from the side, but come on man, the same stunt, twice, and the second time as a deliberate piece of bait ?
Tsk, tsk, gotta do better than that, you old tomato-farmer!

Well I'm centre-left (to the extent that this scale means anything) and I agree with most of what Obama has done, including the list above (a lot of it's more down to pragmatism than idealogy). I'm certainly more in line with Obama than the more left-wing types on this board.

Note that we both are looking through different lenses, my list of the same actions would sound different.

CITIZEN

CNN is a fairly right wing news source, it's left of Fox News, but that's like saying the Guardian is right of soviet era Pravda.

The US political system is skewed massively to the right, centre-right in the us is solidly right wing anywhere else. The republicans would be a far right party anywhere else in the western world, while the democrats would be considered centre-right.

That's about how I see it, Citizen...especially these days. Of course, as far as I'm concerned, it's been far right ever since Dumbya took office, and is only now center-rightISH, given the Tea Baggers are about as far right as you can GO.

That list also includes a bunch of things Dumbya did as well, so I guess that makes him a lefty...what a joke! Dumbya was for amnesty; every Prez snce and including REAGAN has said we need to get off oil dependeency, Obama's just actually trying to DO IT, and so forth. I agree with the majority of those thing and think the list is slanted waaaay right...comunists??
