Just picked up my trusty old MacBook from the shop. It died a few days ago; I almost did the Forrest Gump voice: "You died on a Tuesday..."

Hard drive took a dump. Lost everything - but this time I had backup! It'll take a while to rebuild my iTunes library, but almost all of it (except for a few freebie samplers I'd been sent) will be recoverable.

Meanwhile, for $200, they installed a brand new 360GB hard drive (versus the old 120GB unit) AND installed Snow Leopard for me. So I'm all current once again.

I may end up funding this guy's retirement, since I've also got another MacBook that a friend gave me when it crapped out, plus my old "volleyball" iMac that died a while back, AND an 80GB iPod Classic that funked on me a few months ago. I'll start taking stuff in, one by one, and see what this guy can do with it. Maybe I'll donate my old Mac II to his museum, just because. I still remember when that box was hot shit, and I was the envy of my friends because I was running a 21" Trinitron monitor on it.

Funny that almost 25 years later, that Mac still works fine. The only other one I've got that's never given me any grief is my lime green 1st-generation iMac, which has worked flawlessly for well over a decade now!

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.
