Howard K. Stern, the only man present at three deaths, three of four he would need in order to inherit, has gotten his first conviction in connection with the murder of Anna Nicole Smith and co.

Here's the failure: Justice is a funeral procession. It was fucking obvious to any sane person that he was the killer when he killed the second guy, and a crack investigative team could have caught it when he killed the first.

Investigation ?

As opposed to grabbing the nearest poor schmuck they can pin it on, looking the other way for friends of the force, or using the incident to curry favor with the wealth and powerful...

Simply saying it could exist.

Here's something that bugs me:

Okay, I get why govt. is destined to always suck: The underlying idea is that some small select group of people can be mentally and morally superior to the rest of the people, which is a fascist fallacy. This underlies everything that the govt. does from regulatory agencies to law enforcement.

Yet so often everyone on the street already pretty much knows who did it and why, and the "authorities" are never going to go there, so...

So, why not this: We the people collectively investigate, everyone posts all the details of a crime to a wiki, anonymously, and pretty soon we can all hash out what really happened. Sure, it could be done badly, but if done well, it would be a real disincentive to commit crimes.

Maybe that's what wikileaks really needs. It's not really a wiki. Perhaps if it were, and soldiers and civilians from both sides were posting war docs, then it would be more effective.

Hmmm...something seems wrong with your assertion.

Although I have wondered why we should not just do away with the jury and just convict based on my word as the prosecutor...after all I'd never try to convict someone who was not guilty.

That would be unethical.

That is clearly what those who despise Government feel is the truth, however I do not think that is quite as universal as you would believe.

Story, you're confusing cause and effect.

It is the realization of the logical fallacy that leads one to be anti-govt. Not the other way around.
