Less than 24 hours after votes had been tallied in the midterm elections, Sarah Palin is out with a glossy Web video touting a string of victories Tuesday of GOP candidates she backed this election cycle.

The more than 60-second spot, which was e-mailed to supporters Wednesday, features the voice of a Palin stump speech amid images of several conservative candidates who enjoyed the backing of Palin, including South Carolina Governor-elect Nikki Haley, New Mexico Governor-elect Susana Martinez, and Florida Senator-elect Marco Rubio.

But the video, which doesn't actually identify any of the winning candidates while showing them on the campaign trail, is primarily about Palin, who is repeatedly heard being lauded by cheering supporters as she delivers inspired messages about shaking up Washington, DC.

"Based on what I'm seeing there is more than enough reason to have faith in America," Palin is heard saying. "I'm confident and I am hopeful because this is our movement, this is our moment, this is our morning in America."

The video comes even as some Republicans are grumbling about her role during the midterms, which saw the former Alaska governor back more than 40 House and Senate candidates.

While nearly half of Palin-backed candidates were victorious, her picks of some GOP primary challengers over establishment-backed candidates who were believed to have a better shot of winning a general election has left a sour taste in the mouths of some in the GOP.

To that end, two notable Palin-backed candidates are absent from the new video: Alaska's Joe Miller and Delaware's Christine O'Donnell. Miller appears to be behind write-in candidate and incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski while O'Donnell was soundly defeated by Democrat Chris Coon.

Carly Fiorina, the Republican Senate candidate in California gifted Sarah Palin a high compliment on Monday.

"I certainly think she's qualified to be president of the United States," Fiorina said in an interview on CNN's The Situation Room.

But when the former Alaska governor, who endorsed Fiorina in the primary race, visits California Saturday with Michael Steele, Fiorina won't be in attendance. Instead, she said, she will be campaigning with Republican Sen. John McCain at an event for veterans.

"Sarah Palin is here to endorse her book I believe and to raise money," Fiorina told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer. "I am here running for office so we're all busy."

During the 2008 presidential election, when Fiorina was an economic adviser McCain's presidential campaign, she said Palin didn't have the experience to run a major cooperation.

It takes a great deal of talent for a politician to combine a dogwhistle to birthers and a veiled insult to Sarah Palin in just a few sentences. But Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller (R) managed to do just that.

In a Fox News interview, Miller could barely bring himself to say he thinks Sarah Palin is qualified to be President of the United States. When he finally did, though, all he could muster was the fact that she clears the lowest hurdle, meeting the benchmarks the Constitution requires of U.S. Presidents.

At the Roll Call/CQ election analysis session at the Ronald Reagan Building this morning, Roll Call Executive Editor and Fox News contributor Mort Kondracke blamed Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint for Republicans' failure to capture the Senate.

“The people who got slapped the hardest in this election — besides Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama — are Jim DeMint and Sarah Palin,” he said. “Jim DeMint and Sarah Palin are responsible for the fact that the Senate did not go Republican. Thomas Mann, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, then said: "Think of Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint as the new faces of the Republican Party. It's a nightmare for the party."

As Sarah Palin basks in both the cash of, and the love from the Tea Party, a new Washington Post poll reveals that her political popularity among the nation as a whole has never been lower. Conservative Republicans give her a 71% approval rating and tea partiers put her at 60%, but the nation as a whole gives her only a 37% approval rating, and a 55% disapproval rating.

The most striking number from the Washington Post poll was that only 17% of all Americans surveyed said that they held a strongly favorable view of the former Alaska governor. In contrast, 41% of respondents strongly disapproved of her. Palin’s rating with Independents mirrors her overall 37%-55% approval/disapproval rating. Her favorability rating gains one point with Independents to 38%, while her disapproval rating holds steady at 55%.
Palin’s approval ratings have remained in steady decline since October of 2008. Her book didn’t help. Her gig at Fox News has not helped, and it is safe to say that a reality show on the Discovery Channel is not going to revive the flat lined national political perception of her. America has made up its mind about Sarah Palin, and has all but closed the door on any White House ambitions that she might hold. Even the nationally polarizing Hillary Clinton was able to have an overall approval rating around 50% during the 2008 campaign. By the numbers, Palin is even more polarizing than Mrs. Clinton was.

The half a term governor of Alaska is a niche brand whose appeal is limited to Republicans. It would be a disaster for the Republican Party if Sarah Palin was their presidential nominee in 2012. A Palin nomination would virtually ensure not only an Obama reelection, but also an expansion of the Democratic majorities in Congress. Never in modern American electoral history has there been a less popular politician as seriously discussed as a presidential candidate. Palin may have no chance of winning but that might not stop the GOP from nominating her.
