Hello,

This smells like an anti-alcohol hit piece. The sort of thing prohibitionists would use to make their case.

No doubt alcohol is at least as dangerous as tobacco... but interesting to see them label it more dangerous than crack or heroin.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

There is zero chance of prohibition coming to Britain!!

One of those weird scientific studies: how do you quantify how harmful different drugs are to individuals, and society - and then compare the two? The scoring system is inherently artificial and arbitrary imo, not like an ordinary scientific measurement.

To the extent that we are to interpret an agenda here, see this as pushing for decriminalisation of drugs like ecstacy/cannabis, not criminalising/restricting alchohol.

"The Lancet article was co-authored by David Nutt, a professor and Britain's former chief drug adviser, who caused controversy last year after he published an article saying ecstasy was not as dangerous as riding a horse."

It's not personal. It's just war.

America loves a winner!

As one who use to drink a fair bit, to hardly ever drinking at all anymore, I find it perplexing as to why we legalized liquor and tobacco, but not marijuana.

I think the problem is that we both glorify and demonize drinking and smoking to such an extent, that folks do it to excess, simply as a means of dealing w/ stress, rebelling and basically off the rest of society.

"Alcohol ranks "most harmful" among a list of 20 drugs, beating out crack and heroin when assessed for its potential harm to the individual imbibing and harm to others,"

You could see that as an argument to legalise crack and heroin, not to mention a lot of other drugs.

But of course, every government in the world will just regard it as an excuse to launch another pointless ban of something or other.
