The music thread was getting too long to load. 50 embedded youtubes cause any machine I own to crash.

So, this is a continuation thread. I think we'll need a new one every so many videos.

Thanks for the Amy Lee. I get annoyed at people who think she is "too mainstream to be symph" it's the kind of counterculture snobbery that's been around all my life, probably forever. She's awesome, anyway, I was going to post a different one, but I'll skip it for now, I better get to posting though...

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Are you trying to say I posted too many videos? >_>
(I totally did, just checking if that's what you're saying.)

In case anyone missed the aforementioned song thread: http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=18&t=47107

I would highly recommend the flash blocker add-on if you're using Firefox. Since it won't load them until you click on them, it makes video-heavy threads much easier to deal with. When I tried to load the thread in Safari, it took much longer to load and froze the browser for a bit. Just another reason I love mozilla.

Kudos on the Nightwish and Epica. I love both those bands. And very welcome for the Amy Lee. I saw Evanescence on their first major-ish tour and it remains one of the best performances I've ever seen. She sounds damn near to perfect live. There are very few of her songs I haven't tracked down, so if there are ever files or anything you want, I could probably upload them somewhere or send them to you.

Cool! Yes, definitely. I have or had the complete nightwish, but as I haven't been able to play my mp3s in 18 months or so I don't have anything post Dark Passion Play, should there be any. I know its coming soon.

I saw Nightwish with Annette, I think it was their first show in the US. At one point she was introducing a song, using her the knowledge of very close to no English, and she said "next I have something to do sex to you." and she tots some coahing from fans in the audience and said "oh, sorry, I mean To have sex with you." and then Tuomas came over and whispered something in her ear, she looked very embarassed, and said "no no no, I have song with sex, for you?"

Anyway, they had a meet in greet next day, and I kick myself for not going. I also missed Epica when they were here, because I had no transportation.

But the ipad and the mac both have trouble with too many videos, I would love to have something that loads them selectively. I think the iPad version of safari does that automatically, but because its apple, it autoblocks most of them for being copyrighted.

Android will load it, but wont play them, because it's quirky. I have Froyo, and it doesn't really work all that well. honeycomb is maybe better, but I haven't used it.

But definitely. Send me an email.

Double post.

ETA: I don't think *you* could upload too many songs. Wulfie maybe... nothing against hair bands, they're good as far as they go, but it would get old real quick for me.

I have a lot of Epica, and a few other bands. I used to have more massive amounts of symph, but a nasty computer crash killed a lot of my files. That's what did it for me an windows.

A friend told me "you gotta check out Sarah Connor Chronicles."
Me: I can only get the most recent few eps on hulu..
Friend: you want watch it on this site *link*
Me: thank, cool. Uh oh. Now I have a virus.
Friend:download this virus killer, it gets that virus.
Me:oh, okay. That killed my virus. And I can get it to stop scanning. And it just killed my computer. MY FILES!

Anyway, fortunately for me I have OCD, so I have ten thousand back ups, loss of works and writing was minimal music and Music, I lost only the most recent stuff. Some new bands that I have now forgotten. One was dragonforce, which is okay, because if I listen to it I go nuts. I actually forwarded that song to a friend after you posted it, with the heading, its like dragonforce, if they didn't suck. (Which I feel a little bad about because Herman Li is an amazing guitarist, but it doesn't, alas, make the result, musical.)

Ooh, good choice. They played that one when I saw them. I have to admit, it's dangerously close to being a religion instead of band

I would have liked to have seen Tarja on stage, but I get what the falling out was about: Her husband had already set up her solo career, and "lead singer goes solo and replaces band" is such a well known music meme, you sort of have to take preemptive action. I love them both though.

All of them

I could upload to some file-hosting site so they could all be downloaded. Actually, I've been meaning to do that just as a certain level of backup, even though I compulsively back up my rare tracks on flash drives and such.

And humorous songs came up in the other thread, so I can't really go without putting this one in the mix...

And what is probably one of my favorite covers of all time:

This whole album was stuck in my head for at least a week a few months ago:

Oh wow, I never thought to be so delighted by a Justin Timberlake song! Oh, I'll be laughing half the night.

Some classic songs released shortly after I was born, so I grew up with these:

I think the title of this thread should be changed to "Song Sharing: Volume Two" or something. I notice fewer folks coming into this one.

Ah, those songs were released shortly before I was born, but I know them well. Crumbling Down is a good song, but I think my favorite Mellencamp song would probably be:

A funny and catchy reason I'm a Mighty Boosh fan:

Some classic fantastic Bad Religion:

Anyone like musicals with muppets?

Couple songs I can't find good links to:

Freak of the Week by Marvelous 3 - junior high era me.
Mutant Generations by Steve Macdonald - some wonderful filking.

And my favorite Nightwish song is probably Sleeping Sun. I won't link it, though, just in case (horror of horrors) anyone is getting burnt out on the Nightwish in this thread.

Cantata Profana

"Once there was an old man,
One, who treasured nine sons
Fair and sturdy
Seed of his own body,
Nine fair, sturdy fellows
Naught of work he taught them,
Neither trade nor farming,
Ploughing not, nor sowing,
Naught of handling horses
Nor the care of cattle.
Only this he taught them:
Hill and vale to wander
Hunting the noble stag

Through forest aroving, hey-yah!
The bounded ahunting, hey!
All nine sons and sturdy brothers
Through forest aroving hunted.
Farther still they wandered
The hunted on and on
Still longer and longer, until
Deep lay a mysterious bridge
Wondrous stags had crossed it,
Heedless on they followed
Not knew where they wandered
Lost in forest shadows,
All were changed to stags
Slender stags, enchanted roving
Through the forest

Hey, at last the loving father
Could abide no longer
Straight he took his rifle
And set forth to find them
Hey, his nine fair children.
On he roamed to where the bridge lay,
Found where the wondrous stags had crossed it
Nine enchanted stags had passed there
Swiftly then their trail he followed
Reached at last a cooling wellspring,
Nine stags astanding. Falling on one knee,
Hey, he sighted on the leader.

Ai! But the largest stag gave answer
Ai! Of all the sons the dearest,
Ai! Called in answer to his father:
"Dearest, loving father,
Aim not at thy children!
Or surely our antlers
Must pierce thee and pin thee,
Must hammer and hurl thee,
Crashing valley to valley,
And boulder to boulder,
and mountain to mountain,
Will dash thee, smash thee, slash thee
Crashing cliff to crater,
Flesh be paste and bones be powder,
Naught but dust survive thee,

Then the loving father
Called unto his children,
And grieving answered,
pleading called
unto his children:
"Oh, my dearest loved ones,
Oh, my darling children,
Come, oh come,
and follow home now,
Come now,
your sweet mother waits you.
Come with me,
my children,
Your mother stands waiting, lonely,
Loving, grieving,
all to herself alone.
The lanterns are lit.
The tables are set
The glasses are filled
As glasses stand waiting,
So does your mother stand,
As wine in them brimming,
So, too, your mother's eyes."

Yet again the leader,
Dearest of all children
Called aloud and answered thus
Unto his father:
"Dearest loving father,
Go back, oh, go home now
To our lonely, dear, sweet mother,
But we cannot go!
We shall never return,
Because our antlers
Cannot pass thy doorway,
Only roam the forest groves;
And our slender bodies
Ne'er in clothes can wander,
Only wear the wind and sun;
And our dainty legs can
Never stand the hearthstone,
Nor tread but leafy mold;
And our mouths no longer
Drink from crystal glasses
But only mountain springs."

Once there was an old man,
One, who treasured nine sons
Fair and sturdy
Naught of work he taught them,
Neither trade nor farming,
But only to wander as
Nine huntsman ahunting.
And farther, farther
On and on they wandered.
All were changed to stags then,
There in the forest shadows.
And so their antlers
Cannot pass through doorways,
Only roam the forest groves;
Their slender bodies
Ne'er in clothes can wander
Only wear the wind and sun,
Their dainty legs
Can never stand the hearthstone,
Only tread the leafy mold;
Their mouths no longer
Drink from crystal glasses
Only from clear springs.

------------
I can't really explain why I like it so much. Here is the last part, which tells the end of the story.("Csak tiszta forrásból" is "clear mountain streams)...

Indeed, Siggy, but here's a blast from the past, including the Lyrics - I think it almost pathetically hilarious that I had a Libertarian mention it today as especially relevant, only to have me yank the CD from the rack and loan it to him.

Judas Priest - Electric Eye

Quote:

Up here in space
I’m looking down on you
My lasers trace
Everything you do

You think youve private lives
Think nothing of the kind
There is no true escape
I’m watching all the time

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye

Always in focus
You cant feel my stare
I zoom into you
You dont know Im there

I take a pride in probing all your secret moves
My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye

Electric eye, in the sky
Feel my stare, always there
Theres nothing you can do about it
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

I’m elected electric spy
Im protected electric eye

Protected. detective. electric eye

Man does THAT ever sound familiar these days!

FREM: I keep telling my dd, the way they control the music is not by going after EVERYONE, but by grabbing one or two people at random and spiking their heads at the city gates. Kinda like the police tactic in Toronto... don't move the WHOLE crowd, just rush in and grab ONE person... usually someone behind the front line. The answer to that, of course, would be to link arms. I wonder what would happen if people got together enough, if knowing which jurisdiction the trial was being held in, turning themselves in by the thousands and clogging the justice system.

Of course, you could always donate to the Electronic Frontier Foundation
