QUESTIONABLEQUESTIONALITY

During an interview Tuesday, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly repeatedly tried to nail down an answer on whether Milwaukee Teachers Union president Mike Langyel condoned teachers using fake medical excuses to get out of work to attend protests in Madison. But when the union prez refused to address her question directly and suggested her question was “the wrong one to be asking,” Kelly laid down the law, reminding Langyel of his role as her show’s guest.

“For better or for worse, I’m the anchor and you’re the guest,” she said. “So I’ll come up with the questions and you can answer them or not.”

Yeah, I saw this. I wouldn't say she bitch slapped him....she can be much tougher. What I found hilarious is that he kept saying "for the children"...when he meant "for our paychecks and power".......well, it's true....

Wow,

Fox News asking the hard questions that people care about.

Is this really an interview asking this man if he condones teachers lying about a sick day?

First, who the fuck hasn't done that, and why does it matter. you are allotted a certain ammount of sick days...it's not like you can take the whole year off this way.
Second, it is absolutely appropriate for them to use these days for what they are doing, which quite frankly, is in defense of their schools as well as their own rights.

Don't think so? apparently there are 5 states that don't have collective bargaining for their teachers, and guess what? They rank at the very bottom of U.S. SAT scores...litterally. 50th, 49th, 48th, 47th, and wow, the last one broke the trend and is 44th.

Apparently Wisconsin is like #2.

Yeah, how about a compromise and Wisconsin agrees to every demand they have regarding curriculam, class size, etc. and they all take a 20% paycut and have to pay all their own benefits and lose their collective bargaining rights for everything but 'children's issues'.

I'm sure they'd be all for that one.

Kane, it really isn't 'nuff said.' That's really the frustrating part. It would be nice if you actually said something. something that wasn't simply a vague and reeking cloud of generalities. You seem to know who you don't like and what names to call us, but you really aren't particularly concerned with information. I'm not positive you know why you like who you like either. I very well may be wrong. It would be nice for you to prove it...otherwise its just throwing poo. If that's fun for you then great.

At risk of getting into trouble here, I find it really funny to imagine you two crouching over the tub lapping up water from it, makes me laugh, funny image. Never thought about that before.

And the puppet thing, I think I need some of those, I could have all my pretends charactors have names on here and I could play at being them and write all kinds of things, but I think everyone would figure out it was me.

Thank you Righteous. But you're pissing into the wind; those you're trying to address aren't capable of considering the nuances of a situation, they choose only to parrot talking points that reflect their ideology and call others names

You got it; and yes, they DO want to do nothing but talk to one another, reinforce each other's name calling and fullisade of jerkass rhetoric. It's why they're here. There is no desire for debate or discussion; surely you've caught on to that by now.

As he said, "everyone's" creating sickpuppies to back up their stance...everyone obviously indicating himself. They feel the need to have alter egos to give weight to what they say, which only indicates their weakness and lack of self-esteem. The intelligent people here don't need sickpuppies, they can make ACTUAL POINTS, only the ones who want to do nothing but spout their own poutrage need them. You don't.

Back to the issue of teachers. If they were really good at their jobs they would leave public education and get recognized and compensated for their hard work and talent in private education.

Hmm, I don't see a mass exodus of all this "talent" so I guess it doesn't exist.

I don't think it's quite that simple, actually. It also doesn't take into account those who WANT to improve public education so chose to work there, nor the fact that there are only X number of private schools available to hire them, nor the fact that some private schools may well have criteria beyond just how good a teacher is, nor probably other things I haven't thought of.

I'd call it a snark, personally. I've known a lot of teachers, and damned good ones; they're fighting a system which overcrowds their classrooms, underprovides books, etc., and treats them like dirt, but they hang on, because they believe public education should be free to all.

There's nothing else to respond to, it's just back to gutter fighting, which I will let others enjoy.
