A pointless personal attack. Why not change the subject to point to the actual story so people might read it.

Also, it Niki, with one k, which I suspect really *is* short for Nikita, because I can't think of anything else that Niki would be short for.

Yup, DT, he achieved his aim; he got you to pay him attention. Shame on you.

Niki is short for "Nikovich"...I've explained this before, but here goes: As a teenager I had a crush on the second-banana on "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", whose name on the show was Illya NIKOVICH Kuryakin. I was sick of Sandra Beecher, which kept being "Sandy Beach" from other kids, I hated the name Sandy, and at that time if you were a Sandy, you were supposed to be petite, blonde and look good in a bikini, none of which I was. I only later discovered that Nikovich means "Son of Nick", but I liked the name, so I kept it.

By the way, Niki can also be short for Nicole (most common), Nicolette, Veronica, among others.

I just came in here to change the title; didn't bother to watch the video. I'm just sick to death of the idiotic title shit Kane and his ilk like to spew. Since it's aimed at me, I'll respond: Once.

Hmmm, apparently one can't change titles here anymore. No biggie; the intelligent among us know this is Kane Bullshit, so I'll leave it to the trolls to have fun with it. It's not worth any further attention from us or them.

Regardless of the title, this is a noteworthy story.

ETA: I went back to normal FFF to change the title of the thread. If you reply to me, we can keep the new thread title going.

Because it's Kane. Ideas don't matter, it's all about being the nastiest motherfucker around. Ignore the troll, or do like me, and just mock it.

Oh, gawd, CTTS, you’re right. Since you said that, I watched it. How awful. I’ve a feeling this, and other things that have happened will happen more and more, and I’ll be interested to see how long it goes on and how big it gets before someone dares to say that we’re poisoning the oceans and screwing up the balance-—then watch them be jumped on by everyone on the right...

Stuff like this always saddens me deeply, and makes me glad I'm no younger than I am, given what I believe is coming. This alone is going to change the species balance, I'll bet; everything that depends on anchovies is going to be hurting. Except us, of course, we'll still get anchovies on our pizzas if we're so inclined, just pay a bit extra for it.

I tried that...didn't work, or did your title change, from what I see. Just irritating, nothing more. Haken says only the originator can change the title, I guess now in both versions. That's more good than bad, far as I'm concerned, as it gets us free of those stupid title changes.

Actually, I didn't watch it. I would have, if I weren't annoyed, and it had been presented as a news story.

Niki, you reacted strongly in the past when people have used Nikki or Nicki, so I figured it was not Nicole. Niki, if taken literally, is only a subset of Nikita, unless I'm missing something. But Sandy Beecher is a pretty cool name.

While we're on inaccurate name spellings, it's just CTS. There is no article in her name.

Thanx for the clarification of CTS, my bad. As to my having "reacted strongly", I'm afraid that's a matter of perception. I have MENTIONED that my name is spelled with one K, because it's often gotten wrong everywhere I go. I stopped doing so when I realized some were doing it deliberately--but I'd like to see where you got the impression I "reacted strongly". I fear your view of me may be tinged, and I'm sorry you misunderstood me. That was quite some time ago, but I absolutely remember that I've only mentioned it and requested whoever it was to use the correct spelling...now, whenever it's wrong I just ignore it.

I don't know what you mean by "subset", but Niki is used as a shortened version, or nickname, for numerous names. As to my given name, part of the reason I chose another was my home situation as well as the teasing; I was trying to leave a lot behind when I graduated high school, and it helped.

I'm a big fan of his character, Dr.( Ducky ) Mallard, on NCIS. I watched the entire series before I realized that his first name was ...

Donald.

Yeah, Raptor, someone here actually (maybe even you) told me McCallum was on NCIS, which my husband watches all the time. So I sat down and watched. After getting over my shock at how OLD "my Illya" was, I liked the character. Unfortunately, the other characters, the writing and the acting turned me off so I never watched again. As much, probably, as because I want to remember him as he WAS -- but after a couple of episodes, I gotta grant that he's doing a bang-up job with his character, and I'm glad he's got a job.

Being too young to remember him in U.N.C.L.E, I can say that 'Ducky' is truly a unique and fantastic character in NCIS.

As for the writing and acting...I couldn't disagree more. Sure, there are some eps which are weaker than others, but over all, NCIS is one of the few bright spots on t.v. today. I'd even put it in the realm of Firefly. There's the banter between Tony and , well, everyone. Gibb's troubled , dark past... and Abby (sigh). And don't get me started on Ziva... me-ow!

His character on UNCLE was bland...a Russian mostly used as set-ups for the top banana (Robert Vaughn). NO question Ducky is a more well-rounded character. Nowadays some series are more complex than they used to be, and UNCLE was "camp" anyway.

But it's too predictable, too pat, for me. To compare it with Firefly is just ... No comment. Can't even stand up to shows like West Wing (my gawd, the WRITING!), much less Firefly!

Sorry, but no banana, in my book.

Twice you used the word 'banana' in your reply. And in different context.
