Just as silly as the other one. "Psychotic" is a stupid word to bandy about...at least the other thread used "psychic" as a snark, that's not as bad.

(The link doesn't come up for me, by the way)

Both sides engage in the same things for different reasons. It's politics as we know it in America today. Period.

Ah, I got to it by copying/pasting the link. This is stuff we've been going over for a while now, nothing new.
Quote:

Republicans won dramatic victories last November by promising to mitigate high unemployment. "This coming election is about one issue: jobs," to-be Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said weeks before election day. "It's about jobs that were promised to the American people by the current administration, and were never delivered."

But in the three months since taking over the House and expanding their voices in the Senate, Republicans have yet to pass a jobs-focused bill, instead prioritizing numerous social and cultural issues that are unrelated to job creation -- and have little or no chance of becoming policy.

Here are six such legislative goals they've been hard at work on.
1) Curtailing Abortion Rights

2) Defunding Planned Parenthood

3) Defunding NPR

4) Investigating American Muslims

5) Declaring English As America's Official Language

6) Reaffirming The "In God We Trust" Motto

I'm surprised they haven't introduced a flag amendment, it's the usual thing to do, or has that already been passed? "English as the official language" and flag amendments are so common it's a joke.

The link is valid; these ARE exactly the things they’ve introduced as legislation, and I’ve yet to find ANY legislation or other acts that are focused on jobs. The title and implication are absurd; the facts are valid. If we want to have a substantive debate, let's talk about THAT, not just play partisan games.

We could also talk about why not a SINGLE right-winger on this board has answered the question of why the Republicans they elected have NOT done a damned thing about jobs and are focusing solely on social issues. They're so vocal about everything else, why no reply to that?

Agreed. All that stuff is horseshit. Talk about your old bait & switch. As I posted yesterday, Republicans are commiting political suicide with that absurd agenda.

You have to differentiate between the States and the Federal Govt. to answer that one. On the state level, you basically have a big difference of opinion on how to create jobs. Republicans want to give corporations tax breaks in order to entice businesses to open up in their state, therefore creating new jobs and new tax revenues. Democrats want to raise taxes to cover the states' budget shortfalls, without hurting state employees in the process. There's the rub. I can almost see each side's validity.

On the Federal levels, perhaps you've forgotten, but a House majority of Republicans has no real power to get anything thru the Democrat Senate and President Obama.

...and about NPR. First of all, it will not be defunded, as a House vote to do so could never get past Obama or likely even the Senate. And for me, ypur average knuckle-draggin' neaderthal Conservative...I don't give a rat's ass what NPR's political positions are, and I don't know anyone who does. I love NPR & PBS for all the great entertainment & educational programs they provide; things you'd never see anywhere else, like...Ken Burns Civil War, Baseball, etc...and old Ed Sullivan videos of the Rolling Stones etc., and Nova, and it goes on and on.

Granted, JS. But what they ARE proposing has no more chance of succeeding (most of it anyway), and that's what they're choosing to put forward. Why not put up some legislation that they believe would create jobs? Why else try to get elected on that platform? Oh, wait, cancel that; it's obvious that crying "Jobs!" is an easy cry, given the situation, whether they ever intended to do something about it or not. Silly me.

I, too, could see the validity of both sides on the state level, except that it's been proven over and over that tax cuts DON'T increase revenue, and given the fact that big corporations are about the ONLY ones making huge profits in this economy (which they're hoarding from what I read, not using to hire more workers). Actually, if corporations aren't hiring, maybe it's because of lack of demand, which lack of demand could at least partly be aleviated by people having the money to buy things...y'think?

As to NPR: me, too. But it, like Planned Parenthood, Social Security, ACORN and others of that ilk have ALWAYS been targets for the right, so it disgusts me that they get away with this. If they had their way, they'd eradicate NPR...that doesn't bother you at all?

I was going to post something enlightening and engaging, but then I read the above post and decided I'd wait for more open-minded folks. Why waste a good font.

Niki, I won't get into a debate about tax revenues rising or declining after tax cuts. It's a hopelessly ideological debate where both sides say they have the facts to back them up. On the NPR and cultural issues, I believe I've made my position very clear, but I'll say it again... I like NPR and PBS, and want them to continue to be funded in part by tax dollars.

Well, only the ones who are having hollucinations and dillusions are psychotic, I expect that an equal number of democrats and every other type of people are having the same symptoms, that is what psychotic means after all. I know you're just playing, but people love to use psychiatric terminology wrong, don't get me started about the misuse of the term "obsessed" that is one of my biggest pet pieves about popular vernacular. Errrrrrrrrgh.

America loves a winner!

The first 2 are basically the same thing, so not real sure why they're repeated like that.

NPR should be defunded. Not the proper function of the Federal gov't to pay for biased propaganda like that.

Investigate some Muslims ? Sure. Connect the dots BEFORE someone else gets killed, for a change.

I fail to see the need to print federal instructions in 37 different languages.

I prefer another motto... like Live free or die, myself.

But none of those are MORE important than creating new jobs. It's just that Obama's train wrecking of this country can't be fully stopped until 2012.
