Thankfully, no tsunami, but another major quake along the ring of fire. I just found out about this last night, and haven't heard any mention of it.

Well, at least it hasn't worked back around to Alaska, Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California yet. I've been kind of expecting that to happen at some point.

Sad about New Zealand though. Hope it was near one of the less inhabited areas.

Haven't heard/read news yet today, and of course I'm on Pacific time so behind everyone else. I hope nobody was hurt. I'm sure we'll be hearing all about it in the next few days, barring any political bullshit that takes center stage.

Well, the fact that you're closer to that part of the world than 'everyone else' kinda lends me to think you'd hear about it first.

The only way I found out was via my iPhone Epicentral app. Like to see what's shakin', around the world, ever so often. Saw this rather large quake, almost due north of NZ, but pretty much out in the middle of no where. Lucky there was no tsunami from it, or any resulting under sea landslides. ( at least, not yet )

Probably why it didn't make much news, probably not even in New ZeAland.

There was a tsunami warning, but the impact was very mild.

Still, a bit nerve wracking for the poor old Kiwis who have been through enough of this kind of stuff lately.

Then they got lucky. Last week was a bit busier than normal for the planet.

I wonder what the folks at the USGS think about all this...

( Saturday, July 09, 2011 at 08:57:12 PM EST )

No tsunami, thankfully.

* Originally reported as 7.0, but now seems to be corrected at 7.1.

Never said it w/ regards to quakes. Is your lying hereditary, or something developed, through being a life long Left winger ?

Again, son - you have a PROVEN track record of lying. You've been doing it literally FOR YEARS here.

Oh, and that quote? That's very much a direct quote from you, in just another of your inane replies.

Never once have I lied on this board, so your claim that I have a 'proven' track record of doing as such, is baseless and invalid.

Normally Quicko and Raptor's carrying on bores me, but for some reason today its extra petty and pointless/silly so it is making me laugh. I think they both enjoy it and would really miss each other if they couldn't squabble here.
