The power and the ability of the common citizen, to chose their own destiny, is unique to our country.

It is true power. The will of the heart, and the ability to follow its judgement.

A gun, a tool, provides the true safety net in that endeavor. With it, the artist can paint, the writer can write... without fear of the darkness.

Those who inflict their view of gun-control on the rest of us, are the killers of dreams. They kill personal achievement.

They make victims of us all.

This, I will not abide.

(A dose of self-determination, freedom, free-thought, and hope provided by your faithful Wulfie.)

Making people register firearms, or obtain licenses to have certain types of firearms doesn't reduce the ability of a person to defend themselves.

I do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.

Unique to our country, eh? No other country has any of that, eh? Jezus, Wulf, get a grip!
Quote:

You really, actually think a gun gives you "true power". Hooo, boy, are you gonna get a commeupance when the SWAT team comes a-callin'! Because with that attitude, coupled with your OTHER mental aberrations, it won't be long!
Quote:

SAFETY NET?! Guns make it so artists can paing and writers can write without fear?!?! Goin' off the deep end here...
Quote:

Gun control is the killer of dreams?! Oh, gawd, you're certifiable.
Quote:

They make victims of us all.
So you're a victim, eh? That makes sense; those who believe they are victims are the exact people who worship their guns, thinking everyone's out to get them. I can just see you, huddled in your basement with your assault weapon , expecting...gosh, I dunno, listening to you it would have to be the gestapo or something...to come raging in any second.
Quote:

This, I will not abide.
Well, gee whiz, if you won't abide it, I guess all the rest of us better do what you want, 'cuz gawd knows, when there's something Wulf won't abide, the world had better bow down...

No, tiny little man, "a dose of self-aggrandizement, paranoia, fantasy and self-delusion provided by a truly crazy dork". I give up, nothing, NOTHING will ever bring you back down to reality, you poor thing, if you were ever there in the first place. It's just hopeless, you've got yourself so well fortified by your fantasies and overblown rhetoric, nobody will ever get through

You say the most absurd, assinine, ridiculous things...there's just no hope for you, is there? Have you ever seen a psychiatrist? They might have some medication that can help you with that...or a LOT of medication...

More and more I suspect you are about ten years old. SURELY no adult, however ignorant, could possibly think the way you do. Is your computer in that basement where you huddle, dreaming your dreams of glory? Wouldn't mommy and daddy tell you about the real world? Wait a few years, maybe you'll get over it.

(A dose of sanity, perspective, reality, and a suggestion to seek treatment provided by an adult)

They paint just fine if you think of the gun as the brush and the person you're shooting as the paint, and the wall behind them as the canvas.

I think that's how Wulfie was envisioning painting his "masterpiece".

Go to YouTube, search for " mythbusters paintball ": ( I'm too lazy to post the direct links.) Watch Adam paint the Mona Lisa in 80 milliseconds, then shoot Jaimie with 1100 paintballs at once. If you've never seen them, AWESOME!

I am pro second amendment and think people should be allowed to own guns, but I think things like background checks are good.

By the way, Herman Cain is in favor of gun control. He's come out in favor of leaving it to the states whether to have gun control laws or not, indicating a sharp break with the NRA and placing him well to the left of the Supreme Court on this matter.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

If there was agreement on the right to keep and use and carry firearms, period, then I would be quite content to vote for a plethora of common sense legislation to ensure responsible use by responsible people.

I yearn for the day when that may be the case.

You know, it's funny. I seem to remember panic in the streets during Obama's campaign in 2008. "Oh no, cried Chicken Little. They are gonna take our guns away and forever change our American way of life by repealing the 2nd Amendment."

By a show of hands, who remembers that!

Here we are in 2011, and no such thing has happened. I don't suspect that it ever will. Of course, we still have those that are crying "wolf." By the way, I'm all for a sane person owning a gun (properly licensed of course). But when was the last time you saw a hunter pull out an Uzi to hunt deer?

Hello,

If he eats the bloody thing, he can kill it with a minigun for all I care. I just don't like animals killed for pure entertainment. There should be a practical reason to exterminate it, like food. If you enjoy killing your food, fine. But don't kill it just for fun and leave it to rot.

I personally enjoy trying to hit small targets from 100 yards and more with a civilian (semi-auto) version of an AK-47. It's not known as a particularly accurate weapon at such ranges, so it can be quite a challenge to target shoot with it, especially on iron sights (no scopes). I've little doubt that I could take down a deer with it from such a range if the need arose (as in, if society collapsed and we all had to hunt and barter for our food, which I don't see happening anytime soon, or in my lifetime).

Hear, hear!

I'll gladly second that emotion. If you eat what you kill, then fine. But don't go out and spread out deer corn and bait a feeder and wait in a blind 25 feet away, and then have the gall to call it "hunting". You're not "hunting deer" at that point; you're "ambushing deer", which is really not a sport. :)

I think if you shoot it you should eat it, or your friends should eat it, you should see to it that it is eaten.

Even though I've been getting more into states' rights lately I still think that the right to own guns is a national thing since its in the Constitution and it needs to remain national.

Hell, I'm even more of a waste-not-want-not kind about that, skin it, eat it, wear it, and make stuff with the bones - anything less demeans the taking of its life.

As for the whole panic over guns, you DID see the "Ten Years Later" thread I posted about MI going shall-issue and how that played out, right ?

And besides, I had at the time lead and brass contacts in former yugo territories and was makin good bank on the ammunition shortages related to the whole oh-gawd-we're-doomed thing with the gunbunnies, still would be, if the damn state dept hadn't fucked it up....

ETA: The thread is certainly worth a read, as it contains the only example I've ever seen in my life of gun-grabbers admitting they were factually incorrect, despite how often they are.

Thanks Frem. I don't know where the fuck I was whne you posted this originally, but I'm glad you brought me up to speed.

A great solution to a sticky situation. What people, any people, want in society is a voice, to be heard, a piece of the pie - the American Dream, whatever that is.

If given the opportunity to have a chance at getting what everyone else has the opportunity to get, people will choose the right to pursue that dream. Take that away, all hell breaks loose.

To think these guys sought out a solution, thats a win right there, but they took it a step further. Cooler heads prevailed.

You know Kwix, I can appreciate your sentiments.
Hell, I consider you half sane (avatar notwithstanding) anyways so you having a gun doesn't concern me as much as others (you can't see it, but I'm actually saying that with a smile).

For me, it's always been about our most precious commodity - FREEDOM. We just need cooler heads among us.

I too believe that society has a ways to go before going over the deep end. I've never hunted deer, but one day it may come to pass that we will return to those days of hunting for food.
