I found this interesting. I suspect the drone manufacturer did this as much to increase publicity for their device as to make money on this transaction.

More than likely, although consider well that an unscrupulous merchant may very well turn and sell such things to nefarious folk too - that's the thing with tech anyways, tis a double edged sword, once something has been built, it's only a matter of time before the other guys have it, and use it on you...

Not to mention the stupidity in our application thereof, like just how many drones were lost before the dumbass chair polishing officers realized that operating then on open channels with unencrypted control codes was a bad idea.

It's always bothered me that, with the exception of spying on americans, and most of THAT uses the equipment of gutless jackboot lickin telecom companies - our Sigint and Humint operations are less useful than a fucking google search.
(And yet cost billions, argh.)
