Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

My real complaint against this game is that it A) does not seem to include opportunities/objectives to harm civilians, making it rather unrealistic and B) does not appear to feature the opportunity to play the game from the point of view of the insurgent population.

I remember some years ago there was a video game that DID allow B, and it was a very unpopular feature. For my own part, looking back on it, I think it was only equitable.

The game is also an unrealistic portrayal of Blackwater because it appears to lack a button you can push to:

1) Call in a frat-boy-esque kegger party at your immediate location

2) Call in extensive military cover-up

3) Demand explicit acts between or from one or more nearby civilians at gun point

4) Demand bribes and/or mug civilians

5) "Haze" your AI-bot teammates

6) FISHDO option to skip missions

7) A debriefing screen after every mission, win or lose, that describes in hilarious detail the incompetence you displayed or the international incidents you caused.

Anthony, I think you're thinking of counterstrike. It was actually quite popular, mostly because the gamers weren't really concerned about the politics of playing either side, but rather more interested in the balance and abilities of the side. It was basically like playing cops and robbers, and there are other mods for it that change the sides up a little, like one that's humans versus zombies.

Hello Byte,

Well, when I say 'unpopular' I mean with the Politically Correct set who cried out en masse against such a heinous thing.

I'm sure the players loved it.

Such games should contain the ability to go rogue, switch sides, "frag" a superior officer, and even track down and execute people like Erik Prince.

The original SOCOM for PS2 allowed play from the "Terrorist" side online, although of course the game was heavily unbalanced in favor of the SEAL team - but that only made it a challenge, not to mention all the hacking/cheating, but occasionally it was entertaining, especially going head to head with the Death Dolls, got to meet some interesting folk that way.
