LOL, I gotta hand it to Howard, he's still frikkin' hilarious.

Look dude, ANY movement is gonna have its thirds (one third that get it, one third that kinda, and one third along for the ride). He interviewed the last third for the funny.
Like when he interviewed Iraq War supporters, they were all "Because Saddam blew up the Trade Center & has nuclear weapons pointed at us..."
He squeezes the jokes out of any group mentality.

Chris, even the so called 'leaders' of this movement have no gorram clue why they're protesting. They're having to 'make up' a list of issues, as they go along. Hell, in some areas, they've stopped even trying to formulate any list, because there's no consensus of why they hell they're even there.

Is "Makin' it up as you go" so bad?
Better than "Followin' blindly as you stop" IMO.

So, expressing a negative opinion of a situation is negated by the inability to offer a detailed plan for correction of said situation?
Does that negate the actual situation itself?
How do you effect change by being a happy cog losing ground?

And more importantly, what is the meaning of life?
To get ahead of others? To look out for 'number one'(not the Star Trek kind)? What is family, if not a microcosm of community, and, by extension, the world?

*fell off soapbox*

That it.

Quote:

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Hundreds of protesters gathered in Cesar Chavez Park on Thursday to stand in solidarity with the growing nationwide demonstrations aimed at corporate greed, but some members of the peaceful event showed hostility to media members over basic questions about the goals of the protest.

Organizer Anthony Bondi said he has what he referred to as a “message team” working on the primary goals of the local protests, which he admitted “was kind of vague.”

“That message team will reveal that tomorrow [Friday] morning,” Bondi said.

“So you guys are in the process of forming the reasons why you are here?” asked CBS13 reporter Tony Lopez.

“Exactly correct,” Bondi said.

Just making it up, as I go along, huh?

Just as the Howard Stern interview of the OWS kids showed, they're not even sure WHY they're there, what they want, except maybe to find some tail ( assuming they have a tent )

That part had me laffing so hard there were tears.

But to the point- that still doesn't NEGATE the situation being PROTESTED.
How can you not get that? They play with the world economy like it's a board game. Thew WANT hard times so deregulation & loopholes can make them more money. They will end up making it a reality with 'rating' currency & stocks.
AU, what WORLD do you live in? OURS? Do you have some special power of immunity to the inherent inequities of this financial crisis? An inheritance or something?

The problem is how those other get what they have.

"It's wrong," the sign said, "to create a mortgage-backed security filled with loans you know are going to fail so that you can sell it to a client who isn't aware that you sabotaged it by intentionally picking the misleadingly rated loans most likely to be defaulted upon."

When others abuse the system and then break that system it hurts everyone. The protests are about greed, pure and simple.

Yeah, a real tale of woe. And while due anger is directed to those who played that game, the real anger should be directed at those in D.C., who allowed, hell, all but forced it to happen.

And let's not forget those who were stupid enough to take on mortgages which they HAD to know were well beyond their means. Those who took out loans ( for homes or education ) which were too much for them to handle, and yet they did it anyways. They had better options, yet they chose the 'easy' solution. And it bit them, in the end. Why should the rest of us be stuck picking up the bill of those who made bad choices ?

Isn't the whole Occupy movement really Howard Beale leaning out his window and shouting, "I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!" 35 years later, without quite understanding exactly WHAT they're mad about, or exactly WHO they're mad at?
First step is realizing you're mad, and accepting it. Then you figure out who and why. Then you do something about it. It's early days yet.

DC did not force it to happen. They did however allow it with the repeal of Glass-Steagle act and other banking regulations, you know the GOP mantra of de-regulation.

You mean the ones that were told they would be able to refinance into a fixed rate mortgage before the rates change. You know the people that where lied to just to get loans out the door so they could be sold.

Oh, and we have no choice but to clean up the mess investors left us. It is not going to just go away.

Why is anyone responding to Raptor? Re-read his comments; see if you find ANYTHING of any substance which needs responding to.

It's been explained that Howard Stern chose those he interviewed so he could get the craziest out there in order to go for the laughs.

It's been explained that the 99%ers are still in the process of forming precisely how they wish to proceed; their grievances are valid, but unlike the Tea Party (which was molded by others into what they were demanding), the 99% movement is grassroots, so needs to come to a consensus.

Neither will ever make any impact on him, nor will anything ELSE. So...?

In 2008 Obama got a lot more Wall Street cash than McCain did. Three years of Obama's bashing of Wall Street, and now more money is going to Republicans. That's really why Obama and his leftists and union stooges are all perturbed, and that's why George Soros' money is bankrolling those that want to destroy capitalism.

God I love Alan Grayson! He says it like it IS, straight out, and is articulate (as opposed to the candidates on the right).

Tell me righties, were any of those facts wrong? Sure, you hate any liberal, ANY liberal (which of course means you hate Jesus), no matter what they do or say, but by gawd, if someone in the Tea Party had said PRECISELY the same thing, you'd be cheering right along with them.

Just discovered it's even EASIER to ignore Wulf...I can't recall the last time he made a valid comment on anything. Difference is, I think it's just possible he actually BELIEVES what he says, given all his love of fantasy, movies, etc., whereas Raptor is just here to get attention.

The 99%ers don't need a leader yet. Once there is enough grassroots support, it'll be time to set something up, and I just ADORE how they like to compare them to the Tea Party, which has had how long to be politically active? And what have they done, aside from pssing laws to make abortion more difficult, kill unions, put MORE people out of work, keep the rich from making any "sacrifice" like we're all supposed to be doing, and essentially stall ANYTHING that might help from the government.

They've had quite long enough now to ask the question: WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

Having fun making signs:

Keep families in their homes
Living wages are a family value
I'll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one

...and the response we're getting is absolutely amazing. The honking, thumbs up, waving, V sign, is happening more and more. Thus far, after two Saturday demonstrations and three days demonstrating at the freeway exit to San Rafael, I've seen only two fingers and one thumbs down. I guess we're not quite the tiny minority the right is desperate to make us out to be...

Still wondering... What was it the tea-baggers think they accomplished?

And when?

They CLAIM to have started before Obama came into office (so that means they so AREN'T just a bunch of racist right-wing gun-toting racist assholes, much to Wulf's disappointment), but they didn't have any impact or effect until the 2010 election, so really, what impact did they have in the years before that election?

Odd that Wulfie won't give the Occupy folks a month to make a difference, but is happy his nut-gargling tea-baggers had an impact in only three short years.

What I would like to know is WHAT "positive impact" the Tea Party has had on culture and government? They've stalled government so that we lost our credit rating, promoted an agenda that has cost Americans MANY more jobs than were already lost, stripped working people of their union rights, made the country more divisive than ever, put women through all kinds of invasive processes which, face it, MEN wouldn't tolerate for a second, played fast and loose with the voting rights of American citizens, passed numerous untenable laws in various states, cut so much that cities/counties/states are having to do without firemen, police, teachers, etc., through their intolerance promoted anti-Muslim prejudice around the country and denied Muslims their right to religious freedom, furthered an unimaginable wealth gap between rich and poor like this country has never seen--all that is just a taste--while their one agenda seems to be steadfastly protected the wealthiest among us and corporations from having to pay a PENNY more in taxes, instead limiting "shared sacrifice" to middle and poor classes.

Oh, and fighting regulations which protect citizens, hold 9/11 responders and disaster victims hostage to get what they want, too. There's more, but that's all that comes to mind in a couple of minutes. Yup, they've definitely changed our culture and government...but in any POSITIVE ways? I don't think so.

Hee, hee, hee; trust Raptor to bring the first Godwin to the discussion.

Like woman, I am a mystery.

Grayson/Weiner or Grayson/Feingold would be a dream ticket to me and one I'd throw all my support behind. We need men like them leading this country because then things might actually get done instead of just a bunch of childish whining and bickering. They'd actually be like, "No no no, you shut the fuck up now. Ah ah! No, mouth closed now." and make things happen.

Socialist and unashamed about it.

Your attempted deflection and denial is nothing short of sad.

Fucking sad.

Actually my preferred ticket would be Alan Grayson/Ron Paul.

Which I suppose makes both sides look at me like I've lost my mind, but the very act of doing so proves to me that those 'sides' have lost all sanity in their partisanship.

Yeah, in your world, hard working, honest, main stream Americans who love freedom = 'crazy '.

Count how many US flags are proudly being waved at TEA Party rallies, and how many US flags are being walked on, burned or shit on, at the Occupier's make shift ghettos. It's comical that you try to elevate true patriots on the Right, over the deluded , useful idiots on the Left.

No this line is comical, along with saying "mainstream Americans. It is fucking astounding that how much you don't understand what this country is about.

Oh, and rather have people spit on or burn the flag in protest then wrap themselves in it for there own personal agenda. At least the first on is honest.
