Another John Walker (Lindh) was a United States citizen captured as an enemy combatant during the invasion of Afganistan. He was charged with a number of crimes related to his service with Al Queda and the Taliban. He pled to helping the Taliban and to carrying explosives while committing a felony and got 20 years without parole.

He said: "I provided my services as a soldier to the Taliban last year from about August to December. In the course of doing so, I carried a rifle and two grenades. I did so knowingly and willingly knowing that it was illegal."

Some would call that treason.

I think the real lesson here is that we need to be harder on people named John Walker who commit crimes.
