How the hell is it coming down to this....Newt Gingrich the leading candidate for nomination for President? I don't much like George Will, and I can usually see right through Karl Rove's predictable brainpan, but on the subject of Newt's candidacy they're both right.....he will destroy the Republican Party, although Boehner's already helped immensely in that regard. Obama's $ billion dollars of campaign destruction and his vast force of media kindred spirits versus l'il ole Newtie and his 20 years of scuffed and scarred D.C. and media baggage. Oh yeah, that'll be a fair fight.

Newt's " baggage " pales in significance to the revolutionary marxist up bringing of the current Commander OF Chief.

Hey Jongsie, I'll trade ya one clunker for another, I'll take Rappy if you take Wulfie - at least Rap *occasionally* says something not completely brainless, and even when he don't it's often entertaining in much the fashion of watching a spectacular train wreck.

Which is about what the conservative end of the political spectrum has become, I think, having yanked so far right they've fallen off the edge of sanity into downright parody.

I still say we clone Eisenhower.

Consider Ron Paul before a sci-fi fantasy? Anyone? Anyone? It wouldn't matter anyway.

Every election, they give us who they want to win, and a throwaway candidate. Either the candidate is a joke to begin with, or the candidate obviously throws the race.

It is not much different in various military dictatorships I've both lived in and heard about.

If Ron Paul didn't have a blind spot concerning radical , militant Islam, I'd very much consider him for a real candidate.

But he does, so I don't.

Funny, but no one other than you, me, and Sean Hannity EVER seemed to give a crap about Obama's past. Everyone else is fair game of course, but Obama always gets a pass on all that. That's just how it is, and it's not changing for 2012. Republicans have to do better this time with a candidate who can beat him, and I don't believe Newt or Mitt have the qualities to do that.

He will always get a pass on all things past, present, and future. He's all "historical" don't you know, and that fact trumps everything....ev er ree thing. The Left and their endlessly carping dependent-class constituency will support him into oblivion if necessary, all the while blaming any and every Republican scapegoat they can find. So-called Independents are weak-minded fools who sway in the wind like human 8-balls, and Obama has lots of money and media propaganda at his disposal to get them back on his side.

To your original post, JS: Yeah, sad day, isn't it? I think you'd find even the majority of liberals can't believe it's this bad and wish they had a viable candidate. I sure do!

I guess that's what happens when things like the Tea Party get power; ultra-extremists who virtually set the agenda for anyone running. Damned sad; extremism is never good for a country, or a government. HOPEFULLY after this one things will settle down somewhat and 2016 will get things back closer to "normal", whatever that is. Me, I've never seen an election on either side that was THIS weird, where one party puts up candidates who are truly an embarrassing joke. Maybe if it weren't this bad, Huntsman would have had a chance. I don't like him that much, but at least he can talk SANITY--maybe because he's so far out of the running he can get away with it or something, dunno. But the current slate are like something out of a Heinlen novel!

No it wouldn't - I've posted the sordid tale of what happened to Victor L Berger and others often enough, point being that the bastards in the hellspawned halls of congress feel quite free to just ignore election results they don't agree with, which renders the whole process a sham and a scam, just bread and circuses cause in combination with the usual fuckery from both sides, gerrymandering, the backroom selection of electors, it's all a dog and pony show for the masses anyways - and if you don't believe that, say by some miracle of elsewise Republican incompetence that Ron Paul takes Iowa, care to take bets on whether they'll even ACKNOWLEDGE it, much less accept it ?

Me, I'd go with a Grayson/Paul independant ticket, but I already stated why I flat out will not support him so long as he's got an R by his name, and frankly I wouldn't support him if he changed it to a D neither - till he stands on his own instead of playin yessa massa to the party of Neofeudal Fascism, I'll never accept him as anything more than a potential veep.

Of course, anyone who thinks the issue ain't ALREADY been decided is just deluding themselves, get ready for four more years of that wussy pissant Obama and his wishy-washy manner of talking a good game, but folding when the chips are down, argh.

Oh, and speakin of Newt - the man has NO respect for checks and balances, given his statement about arresting judges who dare disagree with whatever lunacy he means to propose, the last republican who thought that was a good idea was that fucking monster Lincoln, and even his supporters balked at it cause it rendered the whole concept of checks and balances a farce.
I feel that statement along thoroughly disqualifies him from office period since it's in blatant violation of the Oath of office.

For those who haven't heard, Frem refers to this:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/18/gingrich-ill-send-a-u-s-marshall
-to-arrest-any-judge
/

Quote:

Continuing his crusade on the judicial system, GOP presidential frontrunner Newt Gingrich said Sunday morning that he wouldn’t mind arresting any judge who he disagreed with.

When asked by CBS’ Face The Nation host Bob Schieffer if he would “send capital police down” to make any arrest, Gingrich specified further his comments from Saturday.

“Sure, if you had to,” he said. “Or you’d instruct the Justice Department to send a U.S. Marshal.”

Gingrich called the judicial branch of the U.S. government “the weakest branch of the three.”

Methinks Gingrich either doesn't know what the Judicial Branch's duties are, or he's deliberately lying. Or both. No new tale to tell there, eh?

I like the title.

So my problem with Newt (besides that he's like someone's leftovers and not presidential material) is that he acts like he cares about family values, but how many wives has he cheated on? Hypocracy much?

Hoo Lordy...
Quote:

The Republican Jewish Coalition erupted in applause when Gingrich announced “If he accepts it, I will ask John Bolton to be secretary of state.” He previously told about 70 conservative activists about his plans when he was asked how he could assure conservatives he would be trustworthy. He immediately promised to appoint Bolton as the paragon of trustworthiness.

Just in case you forgot Bolton who had to be given a recess appointment to the U.N. due to his extreme views and legendary anger-management issues

Seriously, fucking BOLTON ?

The guy whos very presence at the UN turned half of them against us, got us kicked off the councils and relegated to a sick angry joke ?

The "diplomat" who manages to offend EVERY sane person in the room the instant he opens his gaping filth spewing gob ?

Shit, why not just hire the Mouth of Sauron and be done ?

By Buddas brass balls, what's next, hiring that shithead formerly known as Ultimate Warrior as secretary of education ?

*shaking head*

This guy needs a fucking white coat with extra long sleeves and a rubber room, not a candidacy.
