Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Quote:

Is President Barack Obama a weak president? Opinion writer LZ Granderson explored that question in a typically pointed article. Granderson took the position that the president's apologies are appropriate and helpful, but some of our readers would disagree. These readers indicated they feel the president is hurting our position internationally. Others spoke in Obama's defense.

Why Obama's apologies make sense

This reader suspects the president may not feel motivated to act in the country's best interest.

Probity: "There is a difference between apologizing and groveling. Apologizing was absolutely the right thing to do. It should be done in a way that is sincere yet commands respect. Obama is subservient when dealing with other nations leaders. That is the problem and not the apology itself. Obama isn't American at heart. And no, I am not a birther. I don't care what his birth certificate says. He spent much time as a child outside the U.S. and some would argue that it gave him experience but it is obvious that it gave him a negative opinion of America. His associations, his wife's comment about being proud of America for the very first time, his refusal to participate in several patriotic events and abasing himself when dealing with other nation's leaders show his true colors."

Primewonk: "Obama is NOT subserviant when dealing with other world leaders. Not sure where you guys get this. By stating that Obama is not an American 'at heart' you demonstrate profound ignorance. He spent four years living outside the country starting when he was 6. I seriously doubt you would make this claim about other young children. My father was in the military. I lived in other countries from first to third grades. Does this make me not an American at heart? Face it, you tea baggers are still upset that a smart well educated black man won the election." http://news.blogs.cnn.com/?hpt=hp_t3

Can anyone but me hear Faux News in the background in "Probity's" comments?

This very statement that those who don't agree w/ Obama are ignorant is both false and disingenuous.

First, the standard insult , of anyone who doesn't agree, as being less intelligent, uninformed, or otherwise too unenlightened to glean from the greatness that IS Obama.

Please.

Second, this man , even by the MSM own admission, wasn't properly vetted.

So yes, if you're calling those who don't know Obama, or who he truly is 'ignorant', then there is some truth to that. But this ignorance was on purpose, by the MSM, because they all WANTED him to be President. They thought it good for the country, regardless of his reckless views and complete lack of understanding on the history of this country.

What the hell does he care anyways? He came to " fundamentally transform " , because he did not nor does not believe in what is GOOD about America.

He agrees w/ Rev Wright - " God DAMN America! " .

That's truly who Obama is.

Anyone who uses the term "teabagger" can be safely ignored.

Good to know. Ignoring you now. And all your teabagger friends, who coined the term to describe themselves. ;)

Hello,

This quote is of particular interest, as I was not previously aware:

Quote:

In fact, “teabaggers” who try to blame the term entirely on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and other liberals need to bone up on their own history.

The label began with some of the movement's own members – before they found out that “teabagger” also refers to a vulgar sexual practice, as conservative writer Jay Nordlinger concedes in his recent National Review article.

Never forget what this man is. You keep forgiving him his trespasses and speak to him as though he is a reasonable human being. You keep forgetting the things he's advocated. If you respond to this man again, you are being foolish.

Anthony, I'm surprised you didn't know about "teabagger" being their own chosen term before they discovered its other meaning. It was a big kerfuffle at the time and provided a lot of amusement toward the movement...it got a lot of press. I actually found it kind of sad at the time.

Nonetheless, it was their choice initially; now it's used as a derrogatory label. I think it's wrong to do so, as it ignores the obvious fact that they made a mistake, changed their name, and now is only used as a negative slap in the face. HOW it began has some meaning, but little; the fact that it is used merely points to the person using it, and that yes, they shouldn't be taken as seriously.

None of that changes the facts, which are easy to discern by anyone who cares to listen. The facts are that those against him have done everything possible to make the President "the other", quite successfully to those who want him to be, so that they can rationalize their hatred and prejudice.
