I know politicians use the excuse that they were tired when ever the make odd comments. Like Obama's 57 states remark. But this is why I've always said that Santorum is weak. He just is... as a conservative, and more specifically, weak of spirit. You can just see it in his eyes, the sound of his voice... he's simply worn down. And when you're tired, and don't really have any core beliefs, you sorta plod along and try to fake it. Yeah, it sounds like he says 'niggah', but what's that even suppose to mean, if he did say it ? No, he was trying to say something else, stopped, and uttered a " uh " , to try to get back on track, and when it all runs together, it sounds like 'nigga '.

Sounds like he was starting to say 'nic ...' something, and then said 'uh'.

Gov't nic ? I got no idea. And I bet he doesn't either, but he sure as hell wasn't saying , or thinking, nigga. Please.

14 seconds of his speech and it's clear he wasn't using the "n" word. It does not fit the context even of tht little clip.

Next time ou might want to cut it down to say...7 seconds...or none.

Hey Signy,

This one is kinda deranging. The sound quality is pretty high and his mouth is clearly visible the whole time. It sure as hell LOOKS like he almost said "the N-word" and backed out of it the way he backed out of "blacks" that other time.

But dayum, if he's a guy who would make that kind of a slip, it means he's calling black people "niggers" all the time in his private life. That just kinda boggles my mind a little. For someone who's gotten so far in public life to be so openly hateful toward another race. I miss the days when "unconscious racism" was the problem, not this bold-face white supremacy crap.

I'm sorry, my right-wing pals, chalk it up to left-wing hysteria on my part. I'm just trying to get back to Kansas here. And what the hell happened to Toto???

Oh, there you are!

Is there any other tape confirming this? That sure sounds like what he said. But even I can't buy it, and I'm a guy who thinks his appeal to evangelical southerners is race-based. I think that's why he can't win anywhere except the Old South. A mistake like that is simply unthinkable. And to think it's deliberate is even worse.

But I think the tape is of questionable credibility. What's going on with the last couple of seconds? Somebody was playing games THERE. How can anyone know they weren't playing games in the middle?

But I also find the response of the " LIBERAL MSM " astounding. IF they're so anti-conservative, elitist biased, why aren't they all over this?

Of course you did, because you believe all white Republican males are racist, homophobe, misogynistic greedy capitalist pigs, right ?

Is Santorum a racist, who is so worn out from this campaign, that he's becoming unraveled, and starting to lose it ? Did he have a Michael Richard 'moment', being up on stage and under so much pressure, that he just let his guard down... just enough ?

The dude is all but buried in this race, and if there's blood in the water, especially this season... well, it's feeding time.

The thing not thus far considered is he might be playing, again, to the ultra-right. You can be sure that's what a good portion of THEM heard, and quitely applauded--and it's what some of them have SAID in the past. I'm pretty sure he doesn't say things like that in "real life", and I'm not willing to extrapolate it that way from what I hear, either, but it's not impossible.

The only people who are going to care about stuff like this are the people who already hate Santorum and would never vote for him, and his supporters that will defend anything he says.

Yes. Regular people, for whom it is a non-story, the MSM is just making it one. Or who never even hear about it, or have no interest once they HAVE. Most of us go through our lives dealing with our LIVES, making a meal, doing the laundry, going to work, etc., and pay little or no attention to the vagarities of how the MSM chews up everything endlessly until something else comes along to chew up. Some of us here pay a lot (maybe too much) attention to this stuff, most of the rest of the country doesn't.

More than anything, thinking about this is ridiculous. I find it impossible to believe he talks that way in his life, so either it was "code" to those who wanted to hear something or some other word, and most of all, who CARES?

If the MSM doesn't make a big deal out of it, then you know it's nothing. They'd want nothing more than to phony up some non issue and make a race issue out of something that isn't....

Oh, hold up. They're already doing that now.

Never mind.

If it's "code" - like the "Dixie dog-whistle" of "states' rights" during the era of the Civil Rights Movement or like Newt Gringrich's "food stamp president" remarks of this campaign (despite the proven fact that Dubya was indeed the biggest "food stamp" president in history) - then are you comfortable with candidates that use such "code" to send messages to their perceived constituency? Are you okay with a candidate who calls the President of the United States a "nigger", as long as he catches himself short and only calls him a "nigg-"?

Santorum's campaign hasn't come up with any explanation at all, as far as I've heard.
