http://www.politicususa.com/romney-nra-obama-guns/

Quote:

Romney stood before the NRA and claimed that Obama is limiting gun ownership, “This administration’s attack on freedom extends even to rights explicitly guaranteed by our Constitution. The right to bear arms is so plainly stated, so unambiguous, that liberals have a hard time challenging it directly. Instead, they’ve been employing every imaginable ploy to restrict it.”

But it is Mitt Romney who has a record of limiting gun ownership, and supporting a national assault weapons ban.

Let’s look at Mitt Romney’s record on the Second Amendment. Did you know that back in 1994, Romney supported the Brady Bill and the 5 day waiting period? Were you also aware that this self-proclaimed champion of Second Amendment rights signed the nation’s first permanent ban on assault weapons while governor of Massachusetts?

...

Romney also claimed that Obama is proposing new laws to restrict gun ownership, and he promised to only enforce existing laws. President Obama has not proposed any new gun ownership laws. He has proposed zero new laws that would restrict gun ownership. When pressed on this claim, the Romney campaign can’t name any specific gun laws that Obama has proposed.

Mitt Romney also tried the tried and true tactic of whipping up paranoia in gun owners by claiming that if Obama wins a second term, he is coming for your guns, “In a second term, he would be unrestrained by the demands of re-election.” (The truth is that if Romney wins a first term, gun owners should be very concerned).

There is absolutely nothing in Obama’s record or comments to suggest that he has some secret anti-gun agenda planned for his second term. Since he can’t run on his record, Mitt Romney was trying the only strategy that he has at his disposal. He is going to lie about President Obama every day and hope that voters cast their ballots not for him, but against the president in November.

Just like in 2008, the biggest to threat to gun ownership won’t come from the candidate on the left. It is the Republican nominee that NRA members should be most concerned about. Gun control isn’t a big issue for the Obama administration. They seem to have little interest in it. In contrast, Mitt Romney has shown more than an interest in limiting the Second Amendment. He has actually done it.

So, since Romney is so clearly anti-gun, we must all be blind not to see clearly his agenda, eh?

Those armed right-wingers represent a nascent fascist movement, and while they may be deluded and stupid... no, especially because they are deluded and stupid... they can be dangerous. Fortunately for the rest of us, we are not afraid of guns either.

Yanno, I've listen to you spout intolerant, undemocractic and quite frankly incomprehensible stuff. When words fail you (which is often) you reach for the ever-handy video clips from movies which are unrealistic at best and lunatic at worst. You seem to think that just because blacks are racist you can't possibly be... as if you BOTH couldn't be wrong. Logic is beyond you.

Freedom is a slippery word. rappy uses it to explain why he should be able to take as much money as he can from others. YOU use it to explain how you would impose your views on others- at the point of a gun, if necessary. Did it ever occur to you that that is the opposite of freedom? You go on and on about "freedom" when you sound like nothing so much as a nazi. And yanno, they called themselves patriots too.

I suppose it never occurs to the dumb shit that some of them people are doing so in response to intolerant crazy fucktards praying for their day of the jackboot to come...
Having realized that negotiation, common sense and the like means nothing to the jackals, the moment does come to even the most pacific, liberal person that if the matter is going to come down to them or us, maybe the future would be better served if it wasn't them.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Analysis/DyingLikeAnimals
JACKALS
Quote:

"Finally, we have a strong leader ready to put those malcontents in their places! Where do I sign up?" Jackals are like Lemmings and Snakes: they eagerly collaborate with the villain because they think his campaign of terror and genocide are just causes. Whether it's out of hate, fanaticism, or ignorance, they prefer the villain's despotism to a more benevolent regime. Usually, they're harmless once the villain is dethroned: their prejudice comes out only when the bad guys are in power.

Worth a mention that such scum are also the first ones thrown under a bus when such a regime does obtain power, becuase they are too stupid, gullible and dangerous to leave wandering around, and tend to go to their doom quivering and wailing about how unfair it is as they get the only "reward" such traitors truly deserve.
Cold damn comfort for the people they fuck over on the way, though.

Also noteworthy is the thought that if certain elements of our society are so hell bent on such an event that no amount of persusation, logic or reason can apply, that if the only real method of prevention is to act first...
Well.
But go on, in your arrogant presumption go right on thinkin that the folks loading up are on the side of hate, intolerance and savagery, not like reality ever enters your little plastic bubble.

Me, too. I wish he'd put up something snarkily-serious like that, because something occurred to me after he attacked me by saying huskies weren't children, or somesuch. I realized afterward that I've HAD experience raising children, while he's had none thus far. Just hate it when I miss a chance to show his ignorance! ;o)

The gun thing? It's such a piece of shit and, like virtually everything else here, exists merely to snark at one another. The fact is that Obama's raised no taxes and done absolutely nothing to curb gun ownership, in fact has done the opposite and INCREASED the places guns are legal.

The NRA isn't stupid, they know fear is a fantastic motivator, so saying Obama deliberately did nothing his first term (tho' I'm not sure how his opening up national parks would help in any such "ploy") so that he could go all Brady on them his second. This would mean first that he'd have to be omipotent and KNOW he was gonna get a second, or that he'd forestall the chance to do anything while he had the power on the POSSIBILITY he'd get a second.

Obviously it makes no sense whatsoever. Of course the NRA knows this--THEY'RE not dumb, they just count on how dumb their audience is. And predictably, they ate it up! Mmmmm, dumb people with guns...fun!

Oh, speaking of which, they're at it again:
Quote:

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure Ted Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.

This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle. Here's everything you'll ever need to know about Ted Nugent:

http://www.newshounds.us/2007/08/26/proof_ted_nugent_is_a_draft_dodger
_will_hannity_keep_defending_him.php

Quote:

Since we've been discussing Ted Nugent lately, this seemed a good time to bring up Nugent's draft dodging. It's well known that Nugent claims to have gone to great lengths to flunk his Draft Board physical. What's not so well-known is that he got a student deferment at the same time he was touring with his rock band, putting in an average of 300 shows a year. How was he going to school and touring that much at the same time?

One of our readers sent me a copy of an extract of Nugent’s Selective Service records, obtained via a FOIA request (copy below). As you can see, Nugent received student deferments in 1967 (1-S) and 1968 (2-S). But according to the Internet Movie Data Base website, Nugent has been “performing professionally since 1958, non-stop yearly touring since 1967, averaging more than 300 shows per year '67-73.” Hmm, that would include the two years he was supposedly too wrapped up in his studies to be serving his country.

But that hasn’t stopped Nugent from insisting that if he HAD served, he would have been one big mofo soldier. As the Rutland Herald reported, Here's what Nugent said he would have done if he went to Vietnam:

"… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."
The Herald also noted that Nugent’s efforts to avoid the draft make President Bush look like a war hero.

(Nugent claims) that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside his pants caked with excrement and urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment.

Quote:

RELATED:

"He has the rage, but he doesn't have the war record. At 18, he was called up to serve in Vietnam. "In 1977 you gave an interview to High Times [the cannabis user's journal of record] where you claimed you defecated in your clothes to avoid the draft."

("I got 30 days' notice of the physical," Nugent told them. "I ceased cleansing my body. Two weeks before the test I stopped eating food with nutritional value. A week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. My pants got crusted up.")

"I never shit my pants to get out of the draft," says Nugent, good-naturedly.

"You also told them you took crystal meth [methamphetamine, the highly destabilising drug sometimes described as poor man's crack] before the medical - as a result of which, and I quote: 'I got this big juicy 4F.'"

"Unbelievable. Meth," he replies, in a tone of deep sarcasm. "Yes, that's my drug of choice. You've got to realise that these interviewers would arrive with glazed eyes and I would make stories up. I never did crystal meth. And I never pooped my pants."

"But you did dodge the draft." "I had a 1Y [student deferment]. I enrolled at Oakland Community College."

"You said then that you wanted 'to teach the stupid bastards in the military a lesson'. I'd have thought you'd have loved the army. Guns. Travel. Danger." "Back then, I didn't even understand what World War II was."

"So basically," - I admit that I have, unaccountably, started to speak Nugent - "you didn't want to get your Michigan ass blown off in Vietnam." "Correct. I did not want to get my ass blown off in Vietnam."

"I know you do a lot of charity work for wounded veterans. Has it occurred to you that someone else may have died in Saigon because you didn't go?"

"Absolutely."

Nugent's name, as I am sure he's aware, appears, along with those of Cheney, Bush and many of their fellow Republicans, on a website called chickenhawks.com. It lists those who have evaded or abbreviated their own military service then, later in life, developed an appetite for war and machismo, either personally or by proxy.

"So has this made you..." "Certainly. Because I failed to serve in Vietnam, I feel an obligation now, to do everything I can to support those defending our freedom. Do I feel guilt and embarrassment? Yes."

"You missed your calling."

"I wish I'd understood how important America's fight against our enemies was. But did I go to Fallujah two years ago? Damn right I did. And was I in Afghanistan, manning a 50-calibre machine gun in a Chinook - ready to rock? Yes. Was I there for years? No. A couple of weeks. But I am not a coward.""
