BEAUMONT, Texas — Investigators say a Southeast Texas woman who allegedly was upset to get only a card and flowers for Mother's Day has been accused of killing her boyfriend.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Paige Parkerson of Beaumont was arraigned Tuesday on a murder charge. A booking official had no immediate information on bond or an attorney for Parkerson.

Police say 22-year-old Clifton Barkin was stabbed and died at the couple's home. Parkerson was arrested early Monday after calling the victim's mother.

Evetta Wright told the Beaumont Enterprise that she took her son Sunday night to buy flowers and a card. Wright says she believes Parkerson expected a more expensive gift, like jewelry.

The couple's two sons were asleep at home during the incident. Both are now with relatives.

I really hate this sense of entitlement people have that leads them to do stuff like this. Guys who become serial killer rapists, women who flip out over not having expensive gifts lavished on them.

Y'know why chivalry is on the decline? Because it's STUPID. And ABUSIVE. Basically it's just women taking advantage of men. I'm glad that idiotic notion is dying out.

Not soon enough for this guy though.

I have a friend who is an MD director in a hospital. She told me every day after high school she had to "rush home to hide the guns" from her mom, who threatened to kill her husband. Some kind of mental illness, possibly medication-induced. Took my friend daily therapy in college just ot graduate.

I suspect this homicide was by illegal aliens, since they only spoke Spanish. Which means their religion was Catholic or Santaria witchcraft. May also have been gangbangers, especially the woman, thus PTSD from seeing violence and killings, or participating in killings. Anyone with PTSD can go homicidal during an ordinary argument. As a Catholic she did not like living in sin with her common-law husband, so she wanted an engagement ring. If she's a voodoo witch, then killing things with knives is part of her religion. Mexicans have a not-so-ancient history of human sacrifice and cannibalism.

At least she didn't cook him up in a pot and serve him to the kids, as a disgruntled employee did to the managaer after being fired at Red Lobster.

Aye - I tore a strip off my niece about that shit.

That stupid petty juvenille game where the guy tries to get in the girls pants without offering anything but empty promises, while the girl leads him on with her empty promises of him maybe getting there while trying to scam him out of anything she can - that's bullshit, that's not a relationship, that's a low intensity WAR, bonus points for only being with the sumbitch in the first place to protect herself from other sumbitches in a neighborhood that sees rape as a social faux paus and always blames the girl anyways.

A lot of people NEVER really grow out of that crap, and even a lot of freakin marriages don't, which is how they end up like that.

One thing that's chased a lot of girls away (and alas, unfortunately attracted as many) is that my overriding relationship principle is one simple thing.

YOU. DON'T. OWN. ME.

A principle I fully reciprocate, mind you, but most folk can't seem to wrap their puny little mind around the concept of a relationship built on mutual respect for each others personhood - even my ex took a little over a year AFTER we broke up to finally get it through her thick head, but since her upbringing and environment had never exposed her to true and honest friendship as opposed to some form of exploitation, she had a lot of trouble getting the concept that maybe I was helping her cause I wanted to do it, even if there was nothing in it for me.

She did sort of have an epiphany about it when she challenged me about helping her, asking what my angle was and I offered this:
Quote:

"If anyone ever needed a minder, it's you - and you certainly need a friend, and did you never even once consider that I do these things for people BECAUSE I WANT TO, because it pleases me to do so, rather than for some notion of brownie points in some afterlife or social order I couldn't give a rats ass about ?"

As I have long maintained, to truly know a person, remove ALL consequence for good or ill from their actions and then watch what they do.

My Paladin buddy mentioned that sounded a bit like Crowleys Law.
"Do what thou wilt"
And maybe it does, but often enough, what I "wilt" is to do something nice, that will make someone HAPPY, just for the sake of making them happy, cause I damn well please to do it!

Our societys ridiculous mutual-exploitation "relationships" hearken again back to that puritannical idiocy I wanna ram a stake through the heart of, IMHO.

Yeah, when people's concepts of romance (cultural and upbringing) turn out to have no basis in reality, the meltdown tends to be a major spectacle. Rage, inability to blame themselves for their own failings, taking it out on everyone else... If people are lucky there's just yelling and broken stuff (and the common movie portrayal of the angry girlfriend tossing the guy's stuff out the window, setting his stuff on fire, or throwing things at him is pretty terrible in of itself). Less lucky, we get into the murder and the serial killer scenario I mentioned. All because people are deluding themselves or completely unaware of the implications of their ideas and the ideas society basically forces down on them.

Almost as bad as the favour trading mindset is the mutual pining romeo and juliet nonsense or the self-flattering about leading people on despite a lack of interest instead of cutting them loose. What a mess. There's pretty much no model for a healthy relationship anywhere in mainstream culture. And I'm almost certain that's intentional social manipulation. None of this can POSSIBLY be as difficult as people are making it out to be, otherwise our species would've gone extinct a LONG time ago.

If people were sensible about this, they'd realize that there's seven billion people in the world and they're not all that different. It doesn't MATTER 1) who you hook up with, 2) what you give them /they give you, or 3) whether you break up. In fact I'm pretty sure most people are hardwired to break up after about two years - long enough to raise a kid out of their really dependent age and get tired of their partner's quirks that were only just tolerable before then. It prompts the person to move on to other partners, because it offers the potential offspring better diversity and versatility.

People need to stop obsessing. When they're not being desperate or playing games, they'll probably snag themselves a few one night stands or a relationship or two. This is none of this a big deal. Anything else is just way too much effort, for them AND for their love interests, which is why they'd get rejected and why the relationship probably ends up not working out. Not to mention the questionable ethics of playing games, which is also basically self-sabotage and generally a bad idea anyway.

Hopefully said people in Byte's story don't move on too far from each other, kids deserve to be close with both parents, even if said parents aren't together anymore.

Byte's take on romance isn't my thing. But I do agree that mutual respect is important.

I assume you're my pal until you let me know otherwise.
