It bothers me minorly that he was lying. He later admitted to stealing the information by hacking into the harvard computer system. I understand why people say cover statements when they're lying that they wouldn't have said if they were telling the truth, because it makes the cover story more believable, but it's an unfortunate thing to have said, and one of many that plays into his movie character.

I don't see how his asian gf is an issue here, unless she has an underground tunnel to the kitchen of Wendy Deng, where she can swap recipies for potstickers with the stepford fox.
