This Van Gogh-like rendering produced by satellite images shows the whorls and cycles of the Kuroshio ocean current off Japan, from June 2005 through December 2007.

Orbiting Saturn at a distance of 621,000 mi. (999,000 km), the Cassini spacecraft captured this image of the planet partly shadowed by its gaudy rings.

Billions of people are seeing London through many different filters and lenses during the 2012 Olympic Games. None of those views will look quite like this one from the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership satellite.

Magnetic field lines make their connections on July 23 and 24, 2012. The magnetically powerful areas were rotating into view as the image was captured, providing a wonderful profile of their activity.

U Cam, is a star 1,500 light years away, nearing the end of its life. As it begins to run low on fuel, it is becoming unstable. Impressive, huh? Always blows my mind, how beautiful and awe-inspiring the universe is. Your choice of home pages is spectacular tho', and probably better than mine, which is Google. I look so many things up every day that Google works for me, but I think I might have a better perspective on everything if I looked at yours first thing every day!
