Frem, do you know if there is anything to the rumor that Monsanto bought Blackwater?

I supposed since Monsanto is public, if they did acquire Blackwater it would be a matter of public record. But I figured I'd ask you instead.

They own a subsidary of Blackwater, one that they had hired to spy on, harrass and otherwise mess with activists for so long that when Blackwater fled to Dubai ahead of some pretty damn serious criminal charges, it was considered more cost effective to sell that aspect to them than try to move or liquidate it.

Remember that Blackwater has somewhere more than thirty front companies, various shell companies, PO Box LLCs and heaven knows what else, and that's just what we know of.

I believe that the little piece Monsanto now owns as an in-house security force (aka pack of goons) used to belong to Total Intelligence Solutions LLC - whether they own it outright name and all, or just bought the equipment and hired off the staff isn't really of any difference, save that they can *SAY* they didn't in the media, of course.

I don't have a whole lot of moral high ground to bitch about companies keeping a private army on the payroll though, since we're kind of one ourselves, the in-house security arm of a realty company.
(mostly for collective bargaining in regards to insurance)
Functionally though, it's more of a contract gig - anything extra is at my whim alone, although when it comes to helpin out the people of site three, my whim can go pretty far.

Anyhows, it's not so much a direct yes or no answer as it is... complicated.
But that they're both evil as hell, that I give ya.
