Caught this video on The Daily Show. It is sad, sick and funny as hell.

First Clint Eastwood, now Chuck Norris.......nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

What is happening to our film icons? Did they drink the kool aid? Say it ain't so!
Truth be told, I blame L. Ron Hubbard.

BTW Obama won the election over Lone Wolf McCain by just under 10 millions votes and 192 electoral votes, NOT 20 million votes as Norris' wife wrongly claims. Makes you think if there are actually 30 million evangelical voters out there. If that were the case, McCain would be receiving all the love Obama is now getting for turning this country around.

Personally, I think McCain took one for the team. It was just too easy. First, Old Man McCain was chosen to oppose Obama; then he picks the sorriest running mate in the history of running mates, Sarah Palin. Right after Bush & Co. ran the luxury liner U.S.S. America aground while admiring his handy work - the near economic collapse of our nation, the richest in the world. Jsut too easy (I betcha Cheney thought it all up one night after shooting that guy in the face).

They say that deaths come in 3s.

Michael Clarke Duncan, then
Chuck Norris, and
Clint Eastwood

It is a sad day indeed..............

You didn't already know Norris was a hard-core right winger? I'm surprised, I thought everyone knew that as much as they knew Charlton (SP?) Heston was.

So you don't get any further shocks, there are 146 Republican celebrities listed at http://www.ranker.com/list/actors-republican-actor-and-conservative-ac
tors-list/famous-conservatives
-- tho' they count Ronald Reagan as one, soooo...

You DID know Adam Baldwin, our beloved Jayne, is a hard-core righty, didn't you? Hope I didn't ruin your day.

There's a list of Democratic celebrities at http://www.listafterlist.com/tabid/57/listid/11772/Politics/Celebrity+
Democrats.aspx
--I didn't count, and no cout is listed, but it's a pretty long list.

Interestingly, looking at both lists, I wasn't surprised by many of the names (tho' Curt Russel being a Repub gave me pause and Jimmy Stewart made me sad, as did Gary Senise, and I got a shock discovering Kevin COSTNER is a Dem?? Never would have imagined that, somehow--and Michael Jackson!), and I like and respect those on the Dem list more than I do those on the Repub list.

What I also found interesting is that, reading down the two lists, I realized I wasn't surprised by most of the names on the Dem list, as those people have stood up publicly for their beliefs, while I was more surprised by the fact that the Repub list didn't have many I'm familiarl with as having espoused their political beliefs or stood up for a cause.

Lastly, amusingly Frank Sinatra is on BOTH lists...??

There's hardcore right-winger.... and then there's completely off-the-rocker batshit Capital "C" Craaaaazy.

I don't think Adams quite to Norris levels of the latter, just yet. Thankfully.

Aw, gee.

We can't scare you with Osama Bin Laden (somebody unnamed offed him, but we won't mention who), and we can't scare with "the Roosians" (they turned out to be barely capable of getting out of their own way), or the Chinese (the Yellow Peril is our buddy now).

All we got left to scare you with is " 1000 years of darkness.

Boy, are we desperate.

According to the Repubs, that could happen.

I never gave it much thought, although I kinda had a feeling that Eastwood was a republican from all the Dirty Harry movies. But I had no idea Norris had gone bye-bye, and his wife, OMG, talk about batshit craaaazzy!

I am quickly learning.

BTW was Paul Newman on the Dem list? I'll check the list, I get a feeling that he is.

In what universe is Chuck Norris a "film icon"?

Also, his "thousand years of darkness" bullshit is just more crap he dug out of Reagan's grave.

What, the blatant bit of rightwing agitprop that was "Invasion USA" didn't give that away ?
Mind you that was filmed before the general public knew about Operation Northwoods and our Goverments repeated and ongoing planning to fake such attacks as excuses, but it offended the hell out of me cause *I* knew, even if no one would have believed me at the time.

Grated worse that my mother had the hots for him, though.

Yes, Paul Newman is a Democrat. Of course. Most of those on the Dem list are what I would call "intelligent" celebrities. Not all, of course. But most.

A quick sampling of those I expected to be Dems:

Allison Janney
Ashley Judd
Barbara Streisand
Ben Affleck
Ben Stiller
Bette Midler
Billy Crystal
Bonnie Raitt
Brad Pitt
Bradley Whitford
Bruce Springsteen
Candice Bergen
Cher
Chevy Chase
Danny Glover
Dave Matthews Band
Demi Moore
Diana Ross
Dixie Chicks
Dustin Hoffman
Ed Asner
Ed Harris
Eliza Dushku
Ellen DeGeneres
Gene Wilder
George Clooney
George Lucas
George Peppard
Glenn Close
Hank Aaron
Harrison Ford
Helen Hunt
Jack Black
Jack Nicholson
Jackson Browne
Jake Gyllenhaal
James Caan
James Cromwell
James Garner
James Taylor
Jane Fonda
Jennifer Aniston
John Cusack
John Fogerty
John Glenn
John Goodman
John Grisham
John Leguizamo
John Mellencamp
Jon Bon Jovi
Jon Stewart
Kevin Bacon
Kevin Costner
Kevin Spacey
Kirsten Dunst
Leonard Nimoy
Leonardo DiCaprio
Margaret Cho
Martin Sheen
Matt Damon
Meg Ryan
Melissa Etheridge
Meryl Streep
Michael Douglas
Michael J. Fox
Natalie Portman
Nicole Kidman
Norman Lear
Owen Wilson
Patti LaBelle
R.E.M.
Reese Witherspoon
Richard Gere
Rita Wilson
Rob Lowe
Rob Reiner
Robert DeNiro
Robert Redford
Robin Williams
Ron Livingston
Sara Jessica Parker
Sean Penn
Sharon Stone
Sheryl Crow
Shirley MacLaine
Steve Buscemi
Steven Spielberg
Stevie Wonder
Stockard Channing
Susan Sarandon
Ted Turner
The Black Eyed Peas
Tim Robbins
Tom Hanks
Will Rogers
Tommy Lee Jones
Willie Nelson

Some I like, some I don't, but most of them I've come to think of as pretty bright, and a good number of them have stood up for what they believe in. Few surprised me as being liberal, tho' I admit Tom Cruise was unexpected, tho'.

Ouch. I didn't know that. Saddens me.

Okay, on the Republican side:

Tom Selleck
Stephen Baldwin
Ernest Borgnine
Jon Voight
Jeff Foxworthy
Craig T. Nelson
Bing Crosby
Clark Gable
Kurt Russel (now THAT's a big shock to me!)
Larry the Cable Guy
James Cagney
Kelsey Grammar
Ward Bond
Gail O'Grady
Ben Stein
Pat Booone
Chad Everet
Ava Gabor
Fred MacMurray
Mel Gibson
Adam Sandler
Angie Harmon
Dean Cain
Dick Clark
Kevin Sorbo
Jessica Simpson
Mickey Rooney
George Peppard
Ethel Merman
Ricardo Montalban
Gene Autrey
Jim Nabors
Cary Grant
Jaclyn Smith
Rip Torn
Connie Stevens
Adolph Menjou
Drew Carey
Fred Thompson
Gary Cooper
Shirley Jones
Fess Parker
Sylvester Stalone
Leslie Nielsen
John Gavin
Dick Powell
Jackie Mason
Paula Prentiss
Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
Hedda Hopper
Freddie Prinze
Tom Berenger
Andy Garcia
Mauren O'Hara
Jon Cryer
David Lynch
Joan Rivers
Arnold Schwarzenegger

I LIKE many of these people, I respect the acting talent of some. But few surprised me, as they are not celebrities who, having heard them over the years, I ever considered particularly bright...not stupid, mind you, just not particularly deep thinkers. There were a couple of surprises, but only a couple. And I've not noticed most of them standing up for what they believe in.

Obviously, but it makes no difference. What I found interesting, however, was that the list of Republican celebrities includes MANY who are dead, while the list of Democrats has few, if any. I wondered at the time if they were trying to pad the list of Republicans, but I don't know. There are numerous other dead people on the Republican list, I just gave a sampling of each.

Good point, about them padding it. I would also imagine it ties to the older-skweing nature of the GOP. The list of living celebs becomes outdated more often.

Mmm, also excellent point about the fact that older people make up a large part of the Republican Party. I'm still curious as to why the Republican list has so many who have passed on, while the Democrat list has very few.
