Funny. Claiming such absurdity, after Obama was universally seen as getting his ass beat. Altitude, the moderator, and now this.

Face it, ya got beat. Deal w/ it.

Yes, Obama lost the debate. That does not mean the things Mitt said were not lies. Right in this thread you have fact checks and sources showing exactly how Mitt's arguments and claims are untrue.

Now Rappy can show the Mitt did not simple shove shit (lie) during the debate? If so I would love to see it. I mean that might start so actual discussion in this thread. Posting pictures and doing your proverbial victory lap will not.

You mean when Mondale kicked Reagan's ass in their first debate? Is that the one you're talking about?

Yeah, last time a challenger beat an incumbent President this badly, it spelled doom for the incumbent, didn't it?

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.

The only thing "universally seen" about it was that he won on style - on facts, he lost. This is all over the place (which granted, one who isolates himself as much as rappy, will never, ever see).

But again, as always, Rap only hears what FauxNews and right-wing talk radio tell him, and will never know otherwise. Those sources would die before admitting that Romney lied, and are only crowing that Romney supposedly won. Ergo, Rap will follow the herd, sadly. That there can be no recognition of anything but that is very sad.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

It's worth noting that Romney's move to the centre is all posture, look again at the policies (Mother Jones calls it):

Quote:

on substance, Romney hasn't changed a thing. He still won't accept a dime in revenue increases; he still plans to cut taxes substantially on the rich while claiming he's doing no such thing; he still wants to voucherize both Medicare and education spending; he still wants to turn Medicaid over to the states and slash its funding; he still wants to increase the defense budget; he still wants to repeal both Obamacare and Dodd-Frank; and he still claims to be a deficit warrior even as he refuses to provide any details about just how he'd actually cut the deficit.

It's not personal. It's just war.

Mitt won on style AND facts too. 90 Billion Obama has put toward failed 'green energy', the empty, bogus claims by Obama on what Mitt plans, are purely fantasy, based on things Mitt never said or claimed. Most of what Obama is fussing about are the fictional claims Mitt never made, and when faced with the reality, Barry runs away and then cries " he lies! " .

If Barry were half the man the media myth made him out to be, he'd have spoken up, right there on stage, and confronted Mitt. But he didn't. He didn't want to be seen as an 'angry black man', or maybe it was because TOTUS was off for the night, or maybe it was the altitude... who can say for sure ?

Oh, I can say. Obama was finally shown to be the incompetent phony we all knew him to be.

So you agree with Mitt that "clean coal" is a failure. Good to know we're all agreed.

Just amazing. If there was any doubt left in my mind, it would be gone; Rap unquestionably either deliberately talks shit to get attention or is the most ignorant, blind person we've ever had here. Given that there have been myriad facts and figures provided to show both Romney's AND Obama's untruths, in several threads, and he goes right on insisting that Romney didn't lie, giving some absurd explanation and continuing to say vile things about Obama which have absolutely no basis in fact. How can any human being BE like that? Is he truly and really a representation of the far right...are they actually that deliberately ignorant?

Yeah, there have been lots of disagreements, Rap's been called names and has said astonishing and ugly things before, but for me, this one takes the cake. Such deliberate, unblinking insistence on never acknowledging the truth blows my mind anew...and yes, that was even possible (tho' I didn't think so).

I can see insisting on something, given the psychological stuff people have put up from time to time about how people being given the facts will cling to the untruths even stronger, but this is MANY things, each one carefully debunked with facts and figures by MANY sources...not just the "librul media". It's now pretty much an accepted thing that Romney lied his way through the debate, and Obama lied too. What kind of person...

Oh, shit, why bother. I've been here before. I guess there really ARE people as amazling ignorant as Rap, or as desperately in need of attention that they'll stoop so incredibly low. Why on EARTH does anyone here want to even acknowledge the insane things he says?

The more I see of humans, the more I love my dogs.

Thing is Mitt had been making the claims the President said he had. Mitt also lied many times during the debate.

The funny thing is, if people are JUST NOW making up their minds about who to vote for, and they do it on the basis of how a person "sounds" then their vote is pretty meaningless. People like to call themselves "independent", but what that really means is wishy-washy, thoughtless, reactive.

We're in the midst of the biggest die-off since the dinosaurs, but since most people are distracted by shiny things and their timelines cover about 1 month, they won't notice until it's too late. So in the grand scheme of things, the debate is pretty pointless since neither candidate can afford to focus on our REAL problems.

Yes.

POLL: Most Republicans Still Believe That Iraq Had WMD | A new poll conducted by Dartmouth government professor Benjamin Valentino found that 63 percent of Republican respondents still believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the United States invaded in 2003, even though this assertion has been thoroughly debunked. In comparison, only 27 percent of independents and less than 15 percent of Democrats believed in the misinformation. Additionally, 64 percent of Republican respondents believe that President Obama was born in another country. As the Huffington Post’s Dan Froomkin notes, “this latest poll result seems to indicate a refusal — unique to the modern Republican Party — to acknowledge facts.”

I think what Chris has is a rational intolerance of irrationality. Rappy is flat out irrational. To be even-handed, so is CTS. When I find people who are completely unwilling to look at facts... particularly facts that they don't like .... I find there is no point even talking to them. So, which one are you? Irrational or rational?

Why bother to ask that question? I must be irrational since you, my kind and dear old friend of six years, can't even acknowledge my name with my posts these days.

And Chrisisall is as rational as an Arcturian dogbird...(irrational Star Trek reference). He should be appointed Sheriff of Serenity...(irrational Galactica reference).

I disagree. A vote is a vote, however it's arrived at, so the vote of those who vote the way you described is as meaningful as the vote of those of us who've paid attention.

Obviously "fictional claims Mitt never made" is totally wrong, given Romney's actual statementshave been quoted by the fact checkers, with the actual facts rebutting them detailed. That, of course, means nothing to the person who wrote it, so why bother?
Quote:

I agree; the deliberate and persistent insistence on NON-facts by so many doesn't speak well of our country, and is pretty scary. "...this latest poll result seems to indicate a refusal — unique to the modern Republican Party — to acknowledge facts" is right on, and continues to blow my mind daily, especially as I'm confronted with it daily here. While I don't think it's unique to the Republican Party, it certainly seems to have become more entrenched in them currently.

Chris is one of the most polite and rational people I know here, and I share his "intolerance of irrationality", however rational or not it may be in me. The irrationality I see here by the representatives of the right scares the hell out of me for what it means to America.
