Romney admits "I was wrong" on the 47% remark

"In this case, I said something that's just completely wrong." After the videos, which were posted on the progressive news website Mother Jones, caught fire, Romney called a last-minute press conference with pool reporters while he was in California at the time. The former Massachusetts governor acknowledged the comments were "off the cuff" and "not elegantly stated," but he defended the main point of the message, saying he was criticizing the increasing size of government and entitlement programs. The following day, Romney still stuck by his comments and elaborated on the logistical reasoning behind his remarks. On Fox News Thursday night, Romney was asked what he would have said if the president had brought up the controversial statements–which is when the GOP nominee went as far as to say he was "wrong." It's a 2007 video praising his racist "God Damn America" pastor, being critical of Katrina relief policies (in favor of a policy he voted against two weeks before), and talking in a southern accent about stopping support for whites in favor of helping only blacks. More federal money was spent rebuilding New Orleans than was spent in New York after 9/11 and in Florida after hurricane Andrew, combined.

And, judging by the reaction, it seems unlikely that the video will "dramatically impact the race." Though many conservatives blasted Obama's rhetoric and his comments, news of the footage failed to jump to broader media circles -- something that will no doubt be interpreted on the right as another sign of pro-Obama bias. More problematic for Hannity was the reaction of Tea Party-backed congressman Allen West. "I don't think it's going to really go anywhere," he told Greta Van Susteren, saying there was no apparent "so-what" moment in the speech. Hannity's day-long hyping of the video drew a rebuke from guest Juan Williams later in his show. "I love coming on your show Sean, because I've been here now for all these conspiracy theories," Williams said. Hannity said there was no conspiracy, that Obama was pushing racial divisiveness by talking about the federal response to Hurricane Katrina and the lack of federal money for black-owned business, and that he seemed like a different person because of his accent. "You guys are playing a race card now," he said. "Why are you protecting what should be condemned by everybody?" Hannity asked. "Are you kidding me? I would condemn it in a second if I saw it in the way you are describing," Williams said. "When I see that you guys throw dirt and see what will stick. All you do is hope something's going to stick this time." "You guys?" Hannity said. Williams pointed out that George W. There were a couple reporters at the event, but they only thing posted came from the prepared remarks, the only video was a nine mintute segment from the prepared remarks. The entire video was kept from the public. The off script remarks were never reported by the reporters in attendence. Yes, we had to dig because the media never did it's job. Here is a Senator and Presidential candidate advocating black liberation theology, sporting an angry southern accent, and fueling racial division and none of it, not one word not one remark ever got reported. I note for the record his opponants at the time were Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, not Republicans. They were hiding his remarks from fellow Democrats...not Republicans. Face it...you Democrats never got a real choice in 2008.
